I used to own and operate a nursery, greenhouse, garden center, landscape design & build firm. Personally it has been my experience that if it is mud your dealing with, not somewhat muddy it is not worth putting a grade on because it will not dry like you left it. Someone with drive over it and it is rutted again. I found I spent much less time letting mud season end of dry up from a rain & then grade. You get a final results once and for all without having to continually redoing it. Now that is from a commercial viewpoint that you are doing for a client that is spending money with you. In your case Courtney you may find you need to do it more often so the ruts do not become so deep that it is difficult to level them out because of you constant use of the area.
Yeah, I plan to add my finish gravel this year. This was the base. 6" or so of 22a. I'll be adding 4" of 21aa. We twist and turn, cross drive, beat the heck out of our driveway right now. Normal down and back travel is typical for most, and will be the norm here in the long run. Right now, it needs to be graded, vibrapacked, finish stone added, and packed again.
As a kid growing up I wanted a john Deere now I am almost50 and have a JD I got it with are family farm it was pretty new. After few years the full injectioners went took it to JD they told me it was that and it was the one of the tufts motor they ever made, long story short they couldn't fix it had it5 weeks and change me 1800. For grease job so I ended up taking it to are locally tracker and saw place they fixed it and it was the fuel injection which they fixed with same JD (parts 300.00 ) and JD place wants1400. Each and their are4 of them. So I bought brand new Kioti tractor. Also had to buy special tools 1300. So think twice about buying a JD you can not fix them because all off the special tools I have close friends who have very LG farm that grows potatoes for frto lays they refuse to buy anything JD anymore
Hey Courtney...Works quite well...That dog might be in my future..THanks for sharing sir!
The driveway was way too wet. The stone was packing up at the blades and falling in clumps behind the blade. The areas that hold water, well, obviously wet lol. Need to hit again when it's fully dry and it cascades over the cutting blades instead of falling over in large clumps. When the front blade would get so full and wouldn't go over it was allowing material to go around the sides. This was very evident when in the standing water and turned into a slurry. It was so wet it couldn't go over the top of the cutting blade so it went around the sides. Over all it shows the capability of the land plane and it worked for the most part but when it's dryer out you will have a much better result. I think you are rushing spring time to arrive. hehehe. Great video Cory. Checking the seed area, let's be honest, your brother-in-law got bored recording you and wanted to view the deer. Hahaha.
Haha, no doubt spring fever was kicking in. Certainly, works way better when dry, but the drive needed some work. It ended in better shape than it started. Those deer out there are funny, sometimes never leaving the field all day while we're working.
Congrats on the expansion of your business deep into the implements side. You carry great brands/quality equipment. You will kill it! As I’ve stated before you really HELP a great many folks by providing detailed how too & safety information. One of a very few places that actually get it right!! 👍👍
I appreciate it Gene, very kind of you. Have a great weekend!
Agree but seeing all those implements & equipment outside makes me think a big shed is needed.
Music and grading is nice after a hard day.
Looks like it did a pretty good job even in the mud. Great drone footage as well..
Yeah, felt pretty good to get out on the drive again.
Great video. Awesome footage of the Land Plane at work. 🚜🚜🚜
It looks so satisfying running the landplane plus looks like your starting to have quite the inventory of equipment 👍🏻. Another great videos Courtney and Chris 👍🏻, have a great weekend 🙋🏼♂️🙂👍🏻
It is a easy job, even when it's not ideal. Hope you have a good one too!
Yes it really is satisfying running the land plane until I snag a rock and make a 100 yard trench before noticing…lol
Ciao Bravo, così si fa.
Io spiano con 30 38 e
È una meraviglia.
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy your 3038e!
I’m surprised dirt dog said this about the smaller machine. I had a 1025r and I used a 48” box blade on my driveway with the scarifiers down. The 1025r was able to pull the 48” box blade with the teeth down and the box full of gravel uphill without any problems. I feel confident it could do it. Yes it was working the tractor but nothing crazy. Keep up the good work.
I have stopped my 1025r dead in its tracks with the shanks all the way down on a 48” box blade….on flat ground. Your 1025r must be taking steroids 🤣
Do you think a b2601 will pull a 5' box blade ok?
All depends on the material your in & how wet or dry it is
@@jpjp3873 I talked to a John Deere dealer and the said a 2025r would be able to do a 5’ land plane. The Kubota b2601 is similar sized but probably a little more powerful so I would say you would be fine with a 5’. I wouldn’t go bigger though.
Sorry. I just saw that you said box blade. The box blade holds more material than a land plane. I would say if the 1025r can do 4 feet then the 2601 should do 5. It might struggle a little so other variables come into play such as material you are dragging, hilly or flat terrain, etc.
Those small tractors are very versatile, well worth the money, all your videos show that!
great video as always. With the land plane vs the box blade, I don't see how the land plane would be that much more beneficial than just having a box blade and using the box blade to do the leveling.
Well it was a bit wet, so you'll need to do it again in a couple of days. Looks like really good therapy to me!
Just a tad soupy! We're back to being covered in snow the last couple days, but this week's forecast looks to warm up!
@@GoodWorksTractors we are gonna be mowing grass soon- & the trees are starting to bud out down here in Okie land!
The land plane is my favorite attachment for driveways or leveling a yard.
Courtney, great video, but a Kubota BX 2380 handles a land plane with scarifiers just fine. scarifiers are harder to find on 48" planes, but Land Pride and a couple others have them and 23 hp has no problem handling them. They do make a big difference as they dig down and pull the stone up where it has been compacted over time.
If you stone it - I'd suggest roll out builder cloth or pour small fine and medium (crushed 1" into fines) lay it down first and then the next day or two over top with good 1" rock
and you will find the fines will lock in the lower area. Make it nice and thick if possible and give it time if possible. A good rain will help lock it down.
Over time you will save a fortune by placing geotextile fabric, then a bigger rock and then a number 57 rock on top. It's inexpensive too.
Looks like it's doing a pretty good job.
Very glad my driveway is only 100' long and doesn't require this kind of maintenance.
Yeah, 100' is a little easier to maintain.
Glad my driveway is 1/4 mile. I dont have to see/hear folks driving by. No "fishbowl" for me
Sweet work toys... young man...well earned.....glad to see the "lake" gator still in the stable...😂😂, anyway thank you🚜👨🌾🌠🌠👍.
Haha, oh yeah, Gator is still lurking!
Great on a nice, flat, level driveway, but what about hilly, rutted drives? When your front wheels drop down and that picks up your scraper, accentuating and exacerbating the unevenness. The only way I've found to somewhat combat that, is to use a chain for my top 3-point, to allow the implement to self-level to a degree, but it's still a challenge.
Really enjoy your videos! Was wondering if you can do a video about the actual setup of the land plane in this application. Specifically how deep the front blade is and what kind of a rear gap, if any, there is on the back end. Many thanks.
Cheers from Nova Scotia 🇨🇦
Those planes are pretty handy. I’m going to be due for one eventually . . . May end up hitting you up for one! 👍🏻 - Samuel
Driveway looks great, think doing while muddy is best time, after it dries will be very smooth,a roller would really finish it off!
That's true!!
I've been watching your channel for a while now and the editing has come a looong way! Great job! Your brother does the editing?
I appreciate it Adam, Chris does amazing work!
That did better than expected in the mud
Yeah, even though not ideal conditions, I was pleased with the results
Looking good old boy. !!!!!!
Haha, thank you sir :)
My driveway was to high. I used the box scraper to remove the gravel then I used the scarifiers to loosen the clay and scrape it. Thats really the only time I've ever needed the scarifiers.
Don't hear of driveways being too high very often. Too much material brought in originally?
For rippers, they would need a much larger box beam. The cost years ago when I built my box scraper it was over 2x the cost. Plus the costs of rippers. and the labor of making the holes. The holes also allow moisture to get inside the tube.
Add some dirt to the bucket when using back dirt implements, it acts the same way a ballast box does on the back
Great job, I use a land plane on my 900 foot gravel driveway, it works really well, and it doesn't require a great deal of time to level and grade it. Are you planning on putting any other gravel on that driveway?
Cool video. How well would that grader work on a very hard packed gravel driveway? Thanks
It looks like fun.. but my driveway is too short to justify the cost. 😞
That's okay... You have lots of other toys I am saving up for. 😁
Gotta get me a pallet fork for my 1023e.
Haha, I hear ya!! Have a good weekend!
Im thinking of fabbing one for my garden tractor. Since those are all i currently own, and driveway is not very big
I haven't done any heavy maintenance to my Gravel Driveway in over 30 year and it is still in great shape. I used Afton Stone (Crushed Limestone) and the drive has held up to Propane Delivery Trucks, my 34' Diesel Class A Motor Home and the Lake Effect Snow off Lake Michigan. Drive is over 1/10 mile. I have seen other driveways around here where they used Road Gravel (22A & 23A) falling apart after a few years. I have spread fresh stone to replace the stone removed by the blower about every 10-12 years and the FEL back dragging is all I use to spread it around. I am afraid that if I used a Land Plane or Back Blade I would ruin the drive.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Are you in all sand? I am and along the lake as well, new 800 ft driveway in 18' still a sandy 2 track. I'm not sure what stone to put down.
@@GoodWorksTractors But one must drive their tractor. :)
@@1989Falkor lots of clay here. Call up a couple gravel pits in your area. As many as you can actually. See if you can get a majority to agree on what you should use. Different regions require different materials.
@@1989Falkor No, I am on the edge of a Cedar Swamp and mostly clay. When we first bought the property in 78 you could not get in during the spring and winter and it stayed that way until I retired from the Navy in 93. That is when I had the driveway put in and it took a couple of years before we found all the soft spots and placed additional stone down. I would still recommend the stone, but it will take a while for it to get packed down. Depending on the traffic, it took all summer and into the fall and I was still pinging stones with the snow blower set for the highest clearance. By the next spring it was good to go.
Love my grader acraper
Heck yeah, great tools!
I would have recommended much larger gravel for a base. Small stuff in my driveway just continued to go down untill i started putting on 1" septic tank gravel.
I talked to five contractors and pits in my area. All recommended 22a.
The difference between the position control and the quarter inching valve that the 1023E has is that you can set the position control, lock the tab and repeatably got to that exact same height time after time. The quarter inching valve is virtually impossible to do that with.
Nice work. Some of the stuff looked like you were spreading wet concrete, half expected to see a finish crew behind you.
I
You ride, your brother is forced to chase you everywhere on foot. Something you want to tell us? 🤣
Haha, I choose to plead the 5th!
Position control came out in the 30’s how new stuff don’t have it?
Nice job
Don't forget you can angle your land plane using the 3pl arm to contribute to the road crown, else you just make a really flat road.
A couple features that a MF GC1705 vs a 1023 13:40 is position control & cruise control.
Great video! I'm a new tractor owner and want to get the most from my attachments as I build my collection. I just built a new home last summer. We moved in in fall and I had no tractor yet nor the time to do any of the landscaping and other outdoor maintenance I needed/wanted to do. (Hunting season was upon us!!) As things are thawing out and getting muddy here in NH I am in need of not only doing some yard shaping where I want to plant grass but I also have a 150 foot S shape driveway that I need to maintain and create a drainage ditch for. Will this be the better option rather than a box blade for multi-purpose use for driveway and lawn area? Does this land plane let you set one side higher than the other to make the crown?
Land planes aren't really the best for multipurpose, but I think much better than a box blade for driveway maintenance. A box blade will be multipurpose and handle your landscape tasks better. You can adjust your side link to set one side higher than the other.
Just wondering what your goal is for the attachment areas such as do you plan on out rock down to keep down grass from growing in the attachments
Fingers crossed, we move into a new building by April 1st. Everything will be headed there.
With my 1025, I'm torn between land plane or box blade...
Idk why specifically, but I'm leaning box blade..
If you can only choose 1?
Not for anything crazy, obviously with the 1025... Just some normal driveway maintenance for a myself/in-laws/friends...
If it's driveway maintenance you're looking for, I'd go land plane all the way. These are the worst conditions you can grade in and it still did a good job. Looks like smooth butter when it's dry out.
What size tractors give you the most business? What size tractors do you want to grow your business? Be sure to feature these tractor sizes/implements in your videos? It will allow your viewers to "test drive" the products you want to sell.
Subcompacts rule the roost. However, variety is the spice of life!
Actually, that worked pretty good...but, I never would've thought that you were a "MUDDIN' " fan!!!
Hi Courtney, will a b2601 handle a 5' box blade? Thanks for the great videos by the way!👍
Yes sir, that is the size I'd recommend.
looks great in that soft dirt but how well would it work on arkansas rocky road
This is made to grade roads you’ve installed. I added hundreds and hundreds of tons of gravel to build this road.
👍
In the beginning of the video when you are using it, Seems to me you are using it when the ground has to much moisture in it. It’s packing up in and around the 1st blade and not cascading over like it should. That essentially turns it into a box blade after it heaps up at the first blade. It does work great when there is a lot more rocks in the area you are using it in.
Edited:
Guess I should have watched the whole video where you stated it was to wet. 😬
Haha, yeah too wet, but still wound up better than it started :)
Satisfying
Indeed
@@GoodWorksTractors Maybe one day we will not get these 1" snowstorms and it will dry up lol
Haha, I know! Weather needs to make up its mind!
@@GoodWorksTractors EXACTLY
Can you get the 48" with scarifies?
Looks like it's kinda muddy. A couple of days to dry might make it work better
Haha yeah I’m guessing it won’t be dry for awhile.
What type of material did you use on road? We use half inch minus rock
6” of 22a and we’ll add 4” of 21aa to top it off this year
Do I have a question. On the wheel spacers you are sponsored by will you have to take them off to use a trailer
Does that 1023E have wheel spacers?
Would you guys possibly ship to Canada
Coming this year, just not quite yet!
More sand than clay near Parchment?
Lots of clay here
Good Works Tractor 🚜 will a 5 ft tiller work on a 1025r l get a real good deal 👌?
Yes, but take it easy. Might not be able to go full depth depending on your terrain. If you were buying new, I'd recommend getting 48" though, but you'll likely be fine and good deals are hard to pass up :)

Heck yeah

Why play loud ass music. You should watch your video once the voice to music is really loud.
Gee, we never thought to watch our videos. Maybe we'll give that a shot sometime.
Do you not enjoy the fact that John Deere uses the cheapest nastiest Chinese tires that money can buy. My lawnmower got a flat 20 minutes after it was delivered , DEALERS ANSWER WAS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER TIRES . I wonder why ? i have had so many front tire flats i cannot count , i finally bought better tires (not carlisle) . i cut one of the old ones apart with a sawzall and between the lugs the tire was less than a millimeter thick .Rediculous ! You pay five grand for a lawn mower and get five dollar tires. P.S. will never buy green again.
Has life gotten so ho hum that people watch videos like this?
To each their own. Maybe go look up some anime videos!🤣
You def are not a tractor person then.
Different strokes for different folks.
Its much better than listening to all the MSM lies.
