Wow serious currents there. Eh did Tay edit out the bit where poor aul Donovan picked the short straw? Good man Donovan! Hope Trinity ain't damaged. Find out next ep!
Wow guys, it’s not easy on the dock never mind the high seas, as usual trinity nailed it, so looking forward to seeing you guys, been a year now, lots of love Mark and Janice xx
I remember this night on the wall! I’m sorry we weren’t aware you guys were having issues but I’m glad Okaliptüs came thru for you and Trinity is safe ♥️♥️
Hiiii Lisa - so glad to hear from you haha! It was such a crazy night right? Don't be sorry - it was all in good fun really, always learning on this boat haha
So glad you all pulled together and made it through a very rough weather event... great job to Sailing Okaliptüs for helping out. I hope you all did get to finally catch up on your rest after that long night and that Trinity pulled through undamaged. It looks like you all are in good spirits and ready to carry on with the adventure, thank you for the episode this week. Sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for more!
It was very unexpected indeed, however - this is how we learn and grow! Thank god for Sailing Okaliptüs :) We did get a little bit of rest despite the noise. You'll have to stay tuned next week to see how the adventure unfolds... thank you for being here
Similar thing happened to me years ago in Paros with a 45 knot Meltemi trying to smash my stern into the dock . Had to motor forward for 20 minutes until one crew member came back and we could up anchor and get out of there. Anchored in the middle of the bay with 60 m of chain and held no problem. Learnt my lesson.
Thank you for sharing! Those Meltemi Winds are no joke - It's most definitely safer to be on anchor and moving with the wind in those situations. Glad you guys ended up more comfortably than you started out! Mistakes = Lessons learned indeed :)
We call Preveza as the nymph of the ambracian gulf and the sea. As you see yourself not injustice. But guys come on send a massage to assist you in anything you want. As we say here the more hands came together the more the blessing from the lord. I hope that was the last danger you faced and the bride of the gulf let you leave.
Ahhh the NYMPH is surely a good name for her! Many hands do make light work you are correct! Maybe the lord will connect us again AHHA :) enjoy the season!
ugh... ya... never be up near the fishing dock for the town... always try and get as far back toward the marina as posible.... and you see the cat is side tied.... at this time of year with hardly anyone... you should side tie... that town que is always suspect.... you need to keep a weather eye in Preveza. couple of questions... could you not have anchored in behind the city breakwater in the mouth of the river? lots of cruisers go over there. i sit over there when the weather is questionable... and ya... I never leave my dingy in the water over night. and lift your pasarell... it will stuff that mettal through the stern.... and ya.. you had room.. you could have left... your anchor was slipping... due to weather... when im sitting on that dock i have 150 m of chain out.. so i can haul some in if we slip a little... and that Catamaran is safe.. it just looks nasty... and ya... that town dock is not safe except in good weather as per the cruising guide... its only safe in a north wind and North east wind. but ya.. learning experiance... if i had the bear there i would have left... and headed over to the creak.by the old military base... glad you had good cruisers to help
The weather in Preveza is totally unpredictable haha! It was our first time to try a med mooring so we decided to use anchor - next time we know alongside will be more comfortable. We now have our dinghy and pasarelle up whenever we are not using them. We had to stay on the quay wall due to some delayed work being done on our batteries. Next time we will be sure to stay out in the bay. Exactly, every mistake we make is a lesson learnt and a story to tell!!
@@SVTrinityTube practice is good.. if your doing more practice for med mooring i would suggest the port dock in Atherinos at this time of year.. it should be almost empty.. I have shown a few " new to med mooring " cruisers the procedure there as its quiet. protected and you can do multiple approaches without some one trying to mess you up while you learn.. it may also be good for some of the crew to practice an approach so they understand what your looking at and what your concerns are when doing an approach.. you can never have too mush knowledge in the team.... that way if they see you struggling with a beam on wind.. or trying to fit in a spot with current.. they understand what is going on. another place you can practice and should still be quiet this time of year is down at the port of Poros in Keflonia.. and if you speak to the worfanger and tell him your doing docking training.. he will let you do dock approaches also with the crew if he has no boats on the jetty or pontoon dock.. take advantage now.. docking in the Aegean can be spicy.. and when the charter boats get into full swing.. it will get harder and harder... you will need someone to do boat watch till you have boats on either side of you in some busy ports... but sometimes it can be entertaining. Safe travels... and keep the gelcoat scratches to a minimum..
Preveza just couldn’t let us go that easily… were you guys on the edge of your seat, just as much as Donovan was??
And another great episode from the Trinity crew! That was a night to remember, for sure! Thanks for the shout out! Xo
All thanks to the Okaliptüs Crew! We'll have to get Zoe on board next time to finish the crew ;) hopefully we cross paths soon!

The open seas are calling…. See you there next week ;)

happy sailing
