@@i--a5906 Yeah, and? Just because I offer to take my friend out to dinner as a birthday gift doesn't mean I get to order for them. If I agree to buy my kids a house, that doesn't mean it's okay for me to push upon them a house they hate and don't actually want. Offering to pay for your child's wedding expenses is considered a gift, it's still the child's wedding that they want to have, not theirs. If they actually don't give a shit about their children's wedding and that the people getting married are happy, then they shouldn't have offered. Gifts should come with no strings attached, otherwise it's not a gift, it's a hostage situation.
Buzzkillington you are so right!! I came out of an abusive situation where I would receive “gifts”, but with strings attached/they would be revoked if I wasn’t doing exactly what the gift-er wanted. To this day I feel so uncomfortable receiving gifts, even though they now come from people with positive intentions.

If I push my opinion on someone, stress them out and act all disappointed and whiny when they want to choose something else, I'm not in the right just because someone finally got the last word against my being an insufferable control freak.

What I really hated about this episode was the mother and the fiancé’s mother gushing about how she always puts others first, but they can’t even let her have the dress she wants. Those two really pissed me off.
Binge watching Luke's content, and I found this video. There's no way a wedding goes on hold for 8 years without additional information that's a huge red flag. You could see it on that bride's face when she said how long the engagement had been. She knows. No one could take over temporarily so that they can have a wedding and a honeymoon? Did she have to put her fertility on hold? Now the older women are telling her what to wear? Caregiver fatigue is a thing, and this poor woman should not have been that man's caregiver anyway. My guess is somehow MIL expected her son and any partner to put their own lives on hold for the brother. They could have always gotten married at the courthouse and then saved up for a fancy wedding later or something. There's something piece of this we're not getting.

I never considered lavender before for a wedding dress, but it's a subtle subversion of the classic white that would suit traditional family and an unconventional bride. The white or off white lace overlay makes a good combination.

You are right on. The dress she settles on is very clearly trying to be two different dresses and the compromise is just okay. She is beautiful in any dress and the gowns are always lovely but you are right for reals.

I found it surprisingly easy to pick mine - I walked into a store and told the lady everything on my hate list, which left me with about 3 to try on. Then I picked the one that was my preferred colour out of those.

Yeah, I really think so. To my knowledge, most countries in Europe don't do the whole wedding party thing either, I've gotten the impression that american weddings are way more rigid in terms of having to involve people (at least traditional ones). To me, it's just weird...like tf, it's MY dress, why would it be my mum's (or worse yet, MILs) business. :D

Personally I really love Randy 's gowns . I am also a fan of Randy . He is a wonderful designer . He started out as a designer and now all his hard work is paying off . I couldn't be more pleased . His wedding gowns are amazing .

My dress was the first thing I started looking for when I was engaged. I also believe if you choose the dress first the theme of your wedding will flow. Once I chose my dress I chose my flowers, invitations, service cards ect to compliment the dress. Even the groom and his attends ties were selected to complement my dress.

I wanted a simple wedding, with a cute cocktail dress, in the park next to our house. My mother, on the other hand...I ended up in a gold silk gown with a beaded lace jacket in a church. It cost WAY more than I wanted (of course, she paid for what I couldn’t afford) and I really didn’t enjoy any of it. I still owe her for a wedding I didn’t even want.

The reason why it slopes up is because you still want to be able to walk but also have a little bit of drama in the back. So it curves down round the back in order for the tule to drape correctly.

Idk if she realizes we don’t know each other but I’m 23 years old now and I look forward to her post every year. It’s the most consistent thing I have to look forward to. I love Lori!

I'm American, but live in Taiwan, here wedding dresses are any color of the rainbow, rented.
At least 3 gowns are worn for engagement photos and another 3 for the wedding/reception type deal.
(No isle walking usually I traditional wedding. Groom picks up bride at her place at an auspicious time, goes to his family home at an auspicious time. After some tea ceremony and praying to ancestors, move on the to the reception in the same dress. Enter, walk around, stage stuff, then go in the back, change into 2nd gown, toast at each table, go back, change to 3rd dress, say goodbye.)
There is no dancing, just everyone eating.
