    I’m just starting out and I’ve slowly collected all the tools I should need over the last year and this is the most helpful video I’ve found so far. Using the jigs and a right angle square with anti slip tape has helped so much in “starting off square”. Thank you so much

      Heck yeah man. My bump jig on site is either my speed square or any straight piece of anything. Just to make certain things are flush. Even the old Eagle eye isnt as good as a bump jig. I read your info in a magazine online before and thought that the Mascon name was awesome. I'm sure your father was as talented of a builder as you are a leather artisan. I really am intrigued by leather craft. I'm actually borderline obsessed with it at this point. It's 915 pm and I'm making my first bag. Anyway thanks again buddy.

    Appreciate the video as always, man. Been using a lot of my scrap aluminum flat bar for the same purpose - glad you gave me the idea

    Man I’m just starting and I like your methods. I was in your area when I was in the Army back in 98-99 fort eustis for job training. Thanks enjoyed

    Thanks for sharing practices and techniques. Is there a reason you don't cut along the silver straight edge line? Does it leave the material too short and the yellow straight edge corrects for that?

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  3 роки тому

      1. I’m right handed and I need the straight edge on the left to cut along.
      2. I don’t like using 1/4” thick as a cutting guide. Too thick.

    So glad you are feeling better!!! Awesome as usual. Do you run the grain of the leather stretch from side to side? Or just cut where your patterns fall?

      Thanks for watching! And yes, I’m feeling much better. It all depends on the specific hide and patterns

    Awesome use of jigs, very helpful, alot better than using the side of a ruler. For small templates, you should consider 3D printing, opens up so many possibilites, you could combine #10, 9, 6 into one step,

    Loved it! 👍👍 The only questions I have are;
    1. How do you stop the square of the stamps from imprinting?
    2. You did drop the Shell stamp a 3rd time didn’t you? 😂🤣😎

    • @MasconLeather
      @MasconLeather  3 роки тому +2

      1. Practice stamp on a scrap to gauge pressure. And ease up a bit.
      2. Um .... yes... don’t tell anyone. 😆

    What is the purpose of the notch on the inside of the steel squares? Is that to allow your blade to start past where the corner would be?

    • @MasconLeather

    Great stuff Artie!! Your content has really stepped up my leathercraft vernacular. Because of you I made my first briefcase and I even went as far as making a 17ish liter backpack. Along with a bunch of wallets for the Fam. Keep I’m coming bud!

    Is there a quick way to make a square (literally, 4 equal sides/90 degree corners) with the bump jigs without measuring
