@@Chris_F I just started going into training mode and doing the exact concepts with the cpu block options like the mediums after a light string. Been trying to find new approaches to opening up characters like Akuma vs My Ed, and this example was literally what I needed! Thanks. Spacing Traps eluded me for so long since I didn’t really know I was auto piloting all my pressure. It’s obvious to me now after analyzing my footage. I tend to have the same timing to my walk backs, counter pokes, etc… and it makes since why I’m consistently just out of reach of Master at Diamond 5. I got the tools, but I’m not recognizing what the opponent does during my turn. Hopefully, I’m not blowing smoke and I can actually apply this!
I feel like a lot of pro FG players tend to gate keep this vital information. This isn't really explained well in the game, nor are there any users online going into this detail. Their best advice to a rookie player tends to always be "getgud" and nothing more. So thank you so much for opening the eyes of many folks who are trying to get into fighting games, and not keeping all of the "secrets" to yourself.
This alone is one of those things that can take someone stuck on diamond right to master in a couple of sessions. Trying to tick throw to get the read, and going for a tick into shimmie or delayed button in the next interaction is so easy and valuable. Even if it doesnt work introduces the rival into a mental game state of mind, he wont be comfortable.
Better to leave a comment of gratitude. Pressuring like this is a big shortcoming of mine because i dont use spacing traps and thats what you taught me here.
I just want to thank you for all the consistent content, tech , etc you've been uploading. I'm glad I found you on Twitter and now UA-cam. Keep up the amazing work.
Other people said this already: I think your tutorial are really good since they tackle very specific situations and explain the funds very well. Much better than a single tutorial that tries to explain the whole footsies stuff and genrally ends up oversimplifying things. Just subscribed. Have a nice day!
Haha this is the video I needed! As an Akuma player, I usually do st.lp 3 times in a blockstring and go for a panic option. I didn't know exactly what to do, but with this video, this will def help out a TON!! Amazing content as always Chris! :)
Ohhh man this is SUPER helpful. I'm always on the receiving end of this. I didn't see any other person talking about this. Seriously, I only rank up cuz of your vids. Thanks again.
With all of the fancy training stuff they put in the game (even AI now), teaching and providing an easy method to get in and train specifically THIS, is the biggest omission by far. All of the other stuff like combos can be learned in time. But this is essential for learning how to really play the game and most lower level players will never realize it and will stay low lever because they lack this knowledge.
Thanks for keeping the constant stream of knowledge flowing my friend. This stuff really does help. Nice to get useful chunks of information in short digestible videos like this. Appreciate you 🎉🎉🎉😊
this is a great video. like others have said, not many people mention these kinds of mid/high level strategies and the reasoning behind them. thank you
Bro is a Street Fighter professor. Seriously though, I just started learning SF after getting Tekken King rank in T8 and I've been watching your videos from 1 year ago and writing down notes. Slowly I'll get to your current videos.
Thanks for watching for so long! Are you enjoying tekken still? I wish I had time to put into that game too but I’m already spread thin enough as it is
@@Chris_F I think in small bursts Tekken can be fun, but can get really taxing with the amount of mixups, aggression and knowledge checks there are at higher elo. I’m trying to get into Street Fighter to see what it’s all about tbh. Watching high level SF looks decently fun with a more patient and neutral based game than Tekken. I just started playing Ryu 3 days ago to learn the fundamentals and the barrier of entry is pretty high to even do basic fireballs consistently. Doing fireballs while walking toward seems to be tricky for me on leverless. Right now I’m just doing half circle forward which gets me 70 percent fireballs and 30 percent dragon punches. I guess it just takes time, but i do enjoy learning about game theory through your videos so far.
I recently switched to ed and I had a feeling that I was lacking on my blockstring pressure. In general, I am weak with that and Ed relies on it a ton since he lacks a command throw and an overhead. This is very helpful, thanks!
Great info. Hope to practice that & use it in vs. Throw, MP, or step back HP for my main (though slow walkspeed). And wait/block if you think a reversal will happen. Good examples in the match. Thanks.

What do you do against characters that have very long reaching light punches like Zangiefs crlp? It's very hard to create a spacing trap against that long reach. How do you stop gief from mashing crlp after your string?
Having trouble knowing what I can cancel my lights into as Chun-Li, since unlike Ken, she doesn't really have any safe specials to work with besides her fireball, which I need charge for, and is only gonna be safe when spaced out. Heavy legs is safe, but the long startup makes it easy to check. I guess I have Hazanshu if I think they'll try to go for a throw tech, but that seems hella risky...
After a bit of labbing I found M Hazanshu punishes medium buttons in this situation, too, not just throws... Jabs will check the Hazanshu, but unless they're doing it on reaction, if that's what they're in the habit of doing, I can spacing trap with f/bMP. It's starting to come together....
Chun is a bit unique. She has very fast walk speed so you can use that to walk backwards and whiff punish button attempts instead of always ending with a special
I'd like for someone to tell me how to replicate this in training mode because light chaining isn't a true block string, it a frame trap, right? How is he getting the Bison to reversal light after blocking 3 attacks?
Im new on the game but I was fighting in rank with some do he was ken and I was terry so I was back down, block and he come to me do me the shinryu reppa ? How that happen when I was on block ?
This is exactly the kind of practical mid level advice that's missing in the fgc, as well as many other fields
Thanks!!!

I really liked the real match application portion of the video~ wish more tutorials did this!
The RNG was in my favor that day

light DRC on block is negative at the gap, it can be interrupted by jab mash
This kind of knowledge is insane, always watched guides to get better but this is the missing piece to my offence.

Kind of like I showed with Ken ending lights with jinrai- end your string with a safe special move
The top 4 comments are exactly the type of thing that make me think that the matrix code needs a little bit of cleaning up.

How do you approach if your opponent doesn't mash after light strings and stays in crouch block?
I would say end the string into jinrai overhead or walk up throw
The answer is in the video, watch at least the first 5 min or so
I'd like for someone to tell me how to replicate this in training mode because light chaining isn't a true block string, it a frame trap, right? How is he getting the Bison to reversal light after blocking 3 attacks?
