Your videos have taken me from 1400 MR to 1700-1800 in the last year and I’m only going up. Have even taken games and rounds off some big names amazing content Chris, thank you!
Wow that’s great!! I’m so happy I was able to be part of your growth as a player. These are my favorite kinds of comments to get, so thank you for taking the time to type it out. Hope to see you hit legend!
Incase it doesn't get repeated enough: transition from a TIP into a training exercise is something you uniquely do so well and it makes your videos super distillable and useful. Keep it up!!
8:17 "learn the spacing where you can walk forward but still stay out of throw range" I highly recommend practicing this against Zangief since he has the longest reaching normal throw. Nothing hurts quite like getting the muscle memory down for a universal situation to then find out some characters are built different. Drilling shimmy's against an Alex dummy in SFV made my spacing foolproof - because if Alex can't reach out & scoop you with a normal throw, then no character in SFV can. Gief is that shimmy dummy for SF6.
Chris your content is golden but I’m getting overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to remember and drills I need to do. Is there a way to prioritise things. Maybe a video compiling the important things in an order from your personal opinion so that I can always go back to that one video and kinda practice what’s in it before going on ranked. Hope that made sense. Great stuff, keep it up.
I would suggest to watch your own replays and fix one glaring issue at a time, I have the same issue and working on things one by one and applying them slowlyvis how I get better usually
That's the main thing to anticipate. Don't go too far, shimmy in mid range to avoid getting poked/grabbed while testing their options. If your char has an air grab corner punish gets much easier
So glad I was recommended your channel. I am a brand new FG player that started SF6 a few months ago, and made my way to Plat but feel like I am no longer improving. This info is just what I am looking for, subscribed!
And I’m glad you found it too! I’m always trying to make content that helps players of all levels, but let me know if there’s something I haven’t covered that you’d like to see. Keep it up and you’ll keep getting better!
I wrote some of mine down a while back and it's made such a difference. I wonder how many I'll see here lol. My worst one is pressing the same normal twice in a row for no smart reason (when there's a good reason that's fine). I developed it from jp's savage 2mk. Edit, wow I knew all the details you said but the way you put together the smarter way to handle jump ins was eye opening! I've never walked away from a video of yours without learning a lot.
i dont do any of these but it was still good to see ways to deal with these situations, if i knocked someone down in the corner i usually tried to throw and potentially get hit by a faster attack or parry and potentially get hit by a throw
Step one: delete sf6 Step 2: plsy good game or other fg Step 3:your mental state will be refreshed soon and u will have hapiness in your life Step 3: ure welcome
Great video! I`m learning a lot with you... Can you make a video showing/teaching all the usual ""option selects"" people uses in high level STF6? Thanks. :)
You. Yeah you reading the comments without being subscribed. Scroll up and do it right now cause this man is dropping knowledge like a stuka-87 without trash filler content just to make videos long and in a way that my lazy ass can understand
Hi @Chris_F, I've recently come across the game SF6 and love it. In learning it's inner workings, your videos have been goldmines. Where do you get the largest net proceeds from donations (how can I best encourage you to keep these coming)?
Thank you so much! You can donate (there’s a link to donations on my Twitch page) or become a level 3 member here on UA-cam. While I always appreciate support, please choose the option that costs you the least in additional fees!
@ryanwallace4204 thank you SO very much, that was incredibly generous of you! Putting this towards upgrading my PC for even better content in the future
thanks for the tips yo i was top 300 tekken so my neutral and everything was already really good but all the little things like not clashing their od fireballs with mine is really useful. your vids are the only vids that are actually applicable for someone like me everyone else talking bout some "if you lose 3 games in a row just hop off" or something haha
the best tips i can give you for tekken is to understand how important your 1 jab is in neutral, it's your fastest move and if it connects even on block you're +1 so you can condition them and just control neutral and to practice sidesteps just know if your move is -4 or less so -3,-2... then you can sidestep after on block and cause they're +4 they will probably try to 1 jab you to force their turn but you can just sidestep their one jab and punish and that way you can keep forcing offence even if they block. your df1 is usually the best move to sidestep on block (they're usually -4 or less) and then after your sidestep if they don't jab it's still your turn you can use a sidestep low or sidestep mid and keep forcing offense. since tekken 8 has chip damage on block it's basically just running super oppressive offence if you're best move. good luck whenever you go back to tekken gang
wow ngl as a diamond 5 i was expecting to be guilty of all the sins but i don’t do any of these. the built in pre made scenarios are really good at teaching good habits i guess cause thats mostly all i used. the corner os to keep pressure and defend od dp is amazing. gonna use that
Been subbed for a few weeks now. Awesome videos. Enjoy the tips videos. Anti character tech videos and the pro match breakdowns....That corner tip is great for me too. I dont put enough pressure on my opponent and then ill be in too close to block a reversal and i get back thrown.
im still grinding through the ranks as a "new" player so the corner pressure one i struggle a lot with as chun (im too scared of botching an input there and getting blown up lol). i appreciate the corner training mode set up
Good to focus on just a few: Walk & throw (maybe command grab too) or medium instead of jab after blocked jumpin. Parry OD fireball instead of using meter for your own (I don't have one for my main). 🙂 And walk, block & MP/cMP vs a cornered opponent. Also, bonus tip of forward jump to get out (and keep neutral jump for midscreen/c.grabs). Thanks!
I am learning to pause these videos and think. I didn't realize that if you have a gapless string your opponent can let go of the controller and still block. I am letting this soak in.
Hey Chris, amazing video man! The delay normal to catch people out in the corner looks like a really strong option, just wondering how tight does you timing have to be? To be slow enough to block Dp but also fast enough to counter hit wakeup crmk, if I can get that timing right that's very strong but it seems like Dp is about 6 frames usually and crmk is usually about 7, or is there more to it that I am missing?
It *really* depends on your opponent and their button timing so I can’t give you an exact answer. It’s something you just need to test out in training mode and get a feel for
I think one of the worst I have and thanks to cammy and akuma is not anti airing enough, especially after missed corner throws, I use a drill to practice that one but damn I always forget to AA when they try to escape
Good news is you know what your weakness is so it’ll be easy to fix. Just work on keeping your awareness of jumps when you corner your opponents and I’m sure you’ll get better at reacting
Hi Chris. Hope you can see this comment. I'm having a bit of a hard time being consistent with Super Art inputs with special cancel normals, or from specials that are not in the same general direction. I know this is unrelated to the video subject, but perhaps do you have any tips for this? I bounce between the ps5 dual edge controller and a hitbox, but I find both pretty tricky. I would say that my success rate is at 40% in real time matches. Let's use Ryu as a template, how would you: Input a level 3 from a light hashogeki? Input a level 1 or level 2 after ending your normal combo with standing MP (to end a round, do more damage, or maybe in burn out scenarios)? Maybe an video going over inputs might be good?
The most important thing, IMO, is to fully commit to one controller. Bouncing between the two is going to cause you a lot of issues. I have quite a few leverless guides from about a year ago as well as some shorts on leverless for inputting supers, so check those out. If they still don’t help you, leave me another message and I’ll reply!
@@Chris_F. Thank you! I will review those videos, test out the hitbox I have with those tips, and will make a determination to select a type of controller to stick with. Thanks man for answering my question.
Hey, if I may ask, for Habit # 1, how would you recommend setting up the training dummy to practice that? Also, what button would you recommend using with Guile after getting your opponent to block a jump in?
For setting up the training dummy, do you mean practicing it on offense or defense? Guile is a bit odd bc his jump LK has pretty poor frames in block unless you hit it REALLY deep. Jump HK is good for this though, I like using delayed st MP or cr MP to frame trap off of it
Setting up the training dummy based on me as the attacker/character jumping in- how to practice going for the throw or normal without getting hit out of it
10:06 Btw guys this goes both ways. Always anti air your opponent if they jump a meaty throw! Don’t let them jump for free lol practicing it in the lab will help you anti air 90% of the time until you make it 100%!
5:27 i only don't fully agree with this tip only in a match up sense if you parry certain characters fireballs say aki you give her offense and neutral jumping against someone who has strong buffers leaves you open to being anti aired and put in a bad situation
I have done nothing but get worse and worse at the game this last few weeks. Shot through iron into bronze with a 9 win streak, beat a bunch of silvers, then started losing to iron 1 players over and over, this video couldn't have come in more clutch
Come out to a livestream and I can take a look at a replay to help you out. But for your rank, blocking, anti-airing and getting a simple combo route down will help you tons
I'm a cammy silver player, getting trapped by some diamond and most of master players on the corner, will try (i guess) the fwd jump instead of being massacred by the pressure in the corner. Also one particular high level player would ALWAYS (99% of the time) counter my over drive with a regular medium punch, then an OD (but in green colors "???" Bare with me I'm 3 days old to ranked matches on sf6 lol)
The only time I use OD fireball to cancel out another OD fireball is when I play against AKI so I can avoid having her Drive Rushing in for free and starting her pressure. If I just parry then I'm allowing her to come in with a mix. Would this be a bad approach?
I disagree with the first bad habit. Not that you're entirely wrong, but I think it misses the point in the light after jump heavy. You see, jump heavy is positive on block and hit. Meaning that the attacker always gets the first move. If your opponent blocks, you can go into a safe grab. As you have shown, it requires a bit of a delay or you whiff. A similar concept happens with the light. It also allows a bit of a delay because of how positive you are in frames. The point behind the two is that it is reactable. You can actually confirm the block or hit with a follow-up light starter. This is a default response for when you can't hit confirm the jump heavy. However, you should have a meaty in case you can actually hit confirm the jump heavy. This is the proper way to use frame data. Learning what is and isn't reactable is how you often beat a lot of mixups in SF6. It is also the correct method to your own optimal responses. Without reactions, every mixup is a guessing game. In a guessing game, who wins is often a coin flip.
The third bad habit that you mentioned is not really a bad habit, it does work well against some characters who have really good crossup jump ins or have good corner escape options like Akuma H demon flip or M.Bison Shadow rise. But doing it too much can definitely make things predictable.
I've actually seen top players commenting that this is a thing that good players do lol. It has nothing to do with reversals ofc it's because jumping out is so strong. Even if you cross cut dp someone who jumps over you they still got out and only took 10% for it which is imo better for the person who jumped out. I think ideally you go in and out and not get predictable like you said ofc.
Thing is if you're keeping the corner and you're not taking damage you're in such an advantageous position it doesn't really matter if you aren't doing something IMMEDIATELY. I personally think keeping the corner and getting data is smarter than immediately going in and giving your opponent an opportunity to get out
This was more directed towards ppl who just walk back and freeze up. But yes, you’re right. As long as you have good defense and reactions simply waiting is a very valid and strong option
Step one: delete sf6 Step 2: play good singleplayer game or other fg Step 3:your mental state Will be refreshed and u will be happy again Step 4: ure welcome
