      just know ur just a little bitty monster at the bottom of the ranks……..cuz you got players like me at the warlord legendary level that lasted only for hours…..and then every other warlords above me…..then tournament players above them……and then folks above them…..and then the real last level bosses like AB and Punk………just sayinnnnn but keep grindin though🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😁😁😁😁😁

    There's one more option select that you should consider covering, which is block and option select jump. This takes advantage of the 2 frames of throw invincibility upon exiting hitstun/blockstun. So i.e., after blocking cr.MK xx DR jab, use the block + option select jump to block the chained jab, and jump if they happened to attempt a tick throw. You'll still get hit if they do a frame trap, but the risk is reduced significantly because getting hit during prejump frames does not grant counterhit. And if they leave a big gap in their frame trap then you'll be airborne and thus go into a reset animation.
    However you open yourself up to a new threat which is a low. Since this defensive option select can be treated like stand block option select (unless you are frame perfect with down+back block and then immediately jump, which is probably only possible with leverless), you'll lose to lows. e.g. something like cr.MK xx DR cr.LP xx cr.LK. We can still consider this as reduced risk though because of damage scaling from lights and limited combo potential from lights + low, compared to eating a frame trap or shimmy.

    Good information as always ! It would be huge if we could react to cr.MK > DRC with a Drive Reversal, like within the start-up of the DRC. Right now it's just a huge commitment with so much risk if the opponent does not go for it.

      Blocking and taking the throw is also a strong option . 3 bars for a grab , its just something to consider

      @@swordsman721 Issue is it's not really 3 bars. They throw you and then get oki and they're already regenerating drive gauge. Like think about getting button + drive rush throw by like DeeJay and he does another drive rush throw and then a meaty fireball. It already feels like you're in the blender in mid-screen, and he's just chilling getting his drive gauge back and he built some juicy super meter. It's not the damage that matters, it's the screen space and positioning you give up after a throw.

      @@swordsman721 Depend on which situation though. Like if the opponent is cornered but somehow is able to get a cr.MK > DRC (like by baiting a shimmy or at the end of a blockstring where you end up negative), the throw is much more dangerous as you would be the one cornered.
      But yeah, mid-screen against most character it's better to just take the throw. There are still some throw better than other, like Ken back throw which is really good to put people in the corner.

    Comment for the algorithm: Very helpfull video as always, you are the goat man. I'm currently at mid platinum, and crMK DR starts to get pretty obnoxious and always ends up in me eating a throw. Will hit the lab and do this drill right away. Thank you so much for all your work, it has helped me to improve a lot.

    The mental stack in this game is just nuts lol…u just named like 89 different possibilities for offense and defense….I play this game a lot…and I’ve always recognized the mental stack as a general thing as far as mechanics and all the things I have to watch out for….but watching this video made me realize the mental stack that’s also involved from a moment to moment perspective such as a cr mk into drive rush…..it’s wild when u think about it and almost makes sf6 sound like a really technical game

    Perfect time to make this video. I personally
    Am not able to do drive rush off of medium kicks so I’d always lose to anyone capable of doing drive rush cancels off of crouch medium kicks and i always get hit by them a lot. Makes me concerned how far I can climb the MR rankings not being able to drc off of crouch medium kicks.
    Anyways appreciate the video hopefully it’ll help me not lose as many games

      Do you have a macro for drive rush? if not, do it makes it easier to execute.
      If yes when you do cr. medium kick let go of any button(cr. button, medium kick) and then press drive rush button. It will work.

      That's what option selects are for. Instead of reacting to every option, you do one pattern that reacts to multiple options. You don't need fast reactions to play fighting games although obv it doesn't hurt.

    hey there's 1 last option u forgot, midscreen you can backdash after blocking the dr button which avoids the grab and the shimmy but loses to the frametrap, although depending on the frametrap sometimes it moves you too far for them to confirm

    3:20 Could you elaborate on what these methods for countering Drive Reversal are? I'm in the 1500 Masters range and people still haven't been punishing me for leaning on this option so if there's a super efficient way to do it that's news to me. Best I've found in the lab is delaying pressure so you can react with a super.

      Sorry I totally missed this comment!!
      You can do drive rush into a 4F light normal and then guard to sometimes beat drive reversal. If their reactions are a touch late you’ll recover in time to block the drive reversal like this. Otherwise, just doing a cr mp/mk into nothing can really mess up their timing if they’re always going for drive reversal.

    Good info on Drive Reversal, delay throw tech & delay jab. I don't have a DP, so less to practice/risk. 🙂
    Nice to know on 2 min. Finally did ranked placement & ended up lower than I hoped. Don't remember seeing cMK>Rush yet.
    But I may see it in the future. Solid vid. Thanks.

      @@Chris_F Picked Intermediates, went 4-6, & am Iron. Finished SF5 at gold. Watched good players using my main & countless tech vids, but some people are better.

      @jettmana in iron ranks, don’t worry about thinking. You don’t need tech or anything remotely complicated. Don’t jump. Block. Anti-air people who jump (and they will jump). Learn one combo and use it. Wait for the opponent to do DI and react with your own DI.

    I normally don't play Akuma but I tried to set it up. I've tried recording slot 1 like you said but if I'm as Blanka doing my OD upball as a response to him DR after CR MK, it beats both slot 1 and slot 2 (slot 2 being more lenient of course). Meaning my OD upball comes out and I don't get to throw tech if I do what you said at @12:15. Does it mean my DR cr LP is too slow?

      Most likely recorded too slow. There shouldn’t be enough time for OD moves to even come out

    is there is a way to win against OD reversal option select, or you just have to jab for gapless string and do the +3 guess if you opponent is locked in and buffers OD reverse perfectly for the initial 2MP drive rush guess

      If they have a cancellable cr MP you can use that (that’s what I do with guile when I don’t want to flash kick)

    is it not feasible to react to the sound / green color with a Drive reversal everytime? i know drive rush cancel from a light into a light is hard to drive reversal but i feel like cr mk drive rush cancel is reactable.

      @@Chris_F I tested it a long time ago and you only have around 11-13f to react to the green flash, otherwise the opponent can bait the Drive Reversal with a quick jab. If you know they're going to DR cancel then you can start reacting to the 2MK itself, but otherwise it seems pretty impractical

      Rewatch the beginning of the video. Essentially, set the CPU to do neutral jump and then cr.Mk. Practice walking in and out without getting clipped by cr.mk!

    about the shoriyuken input I actually have a question how it would work for charged invuln moves like guile flashkick since it cant be buffered the same way.
    Is it more that I need to react to the gap or is there another option select method?

      Well if you're always charging, you can just let it rip as soon as you see the green flash. If they press jab after the drive rush, it wont come out. If they press anything else or nothing at all, they get flash kicked.

      Yup, above comment is correct. Only issue charge characters have is that if you DO go for that option, you lose charge so you can’t reversal against the next mixup if they did a gapless string

    great video again Chris ! not too be negative but I'm just venting it out. I really hate that its crucial to have low forwards and dps in this game. even tho its arguably the best street fighter out, playing against people your level, youre at a disadvantagefrom the get go. if you dont have a low forward/dp you already lost at the character select screen just my opinion. i just wanted to get vent it out there lol my bad chris

      Fireball > drive rush
      OD reversal
      low forward > drive rush
      Having one (or all) means you will have an easier time setting/controlling the pace. If you have none of those good luck.
      I’m hesitant to say disadvantage because a character with none of those usually has something to try and balance it out. But it’s still harder for them.

      Not true exactly though. Guile and zangief can’t do cr MK drive rush and they are both top 10 characters in this current patch.

      I’ll kinda give you Gief though. I don’t think he can set the pace of the match as easily as other characters but he will take advantage of your hesitation to do so and at that point it’s all him
