Always been a fan of Chris' blues playing, but these super rough, sloppy sounding jazz fusion solo jams that never end, sound terrible. When I got the chance to see him live last year, I wound up leaving early. The fusion stuff he played got to the point that it was irritating and headache inducing. When you go to a show expecting to hear blues and blues rock, and you end up with a bunch of sloppy fusion thrown in, it's disappointing. There is no need for that level of self indulgence on Chris' part.
I'm sure you're not the only one with that or a similar opinion. I've told many people his playing is not everyone's cup of tea, but it appears there are enough folks interested in what he does to make it work. I'll continue to see, hear and record him when I can and post videos for those who wanted to be there but couldn't make it to the show.
Possibly the best living guitarist on the planet!
I've been saying that for close to 30 years now!
.... sorry...that title belongs to Rick Derringer...
