Mafia 2 is a gritty crime drama that chronicles the rise of Vito Scaletta, the son of Sicilian immigrants. Together with his buddy Joe, he works to prove himself to the Falcone Crime Family quickly escalating up the family ladder with crimes of larger reward, status and consequence.

I thought I'd upload this in chronological order and edit Joe's main story parts from his DLC together like a Chapter from the main game. This "Chapter" basically fills in the gaps between Chapters 6 and 7 and tells us what Joe got up to whilst Vito was inside. Sorry about some of the frame rate drops in this part. This DLC doesn't run quite a smooth as the main game for some reason...

I always wondered what joe was doing while Vito was in jail. Because when Vito was out joe said “I wasn’t exactly sitting on my ass while you were in the can” im glad they added joes adventures and it makes sense

I already posted this but: In my personal head canon, when Joe flees Empire Bay for angering Luca Gurino at the end of the first mission, he ends up in New Bordeaux and works for Sal Marcano’s family from Mafia 3. Here’s why:
New Bordeaux as a city probably hadn’t been written at Mafia 2’s release, and Joe may have gone elsewhere like Florida, but given it’s the only city in the southern US we’ve physically seen with a Mafia presence in the entire series, I’d assume that’s where Tony Balls means when he says “Whilst you were having your fun in the South”. Also, its likely Joe somehow learned about Marcano’s operations due to his knowledge of the criminal underworld and decided that’s where he would go to find work to support himself whilst hiding from Luca Gurino.
Side note: Given Joe’s love for booze and women seen throughout Mafia 2, New Bordeaux would be a fitting choice given that the French Ward district is the party capital down there.
Even though we see that Marcano had ties with the Vinci family (confirmed throughout Mafia 3), he may have been friendly with the Falcone family too, which may explain how Joe became acquainted with Tony Balls during his time down there. One theory for this is that, at some point during Joe’s time down there, Tony may have been tasked with travelling to New Bordeaux to oversee an operation that Falcone and Marcano were partnered with, and met and befriended Joe who would have been working on behalf of Marcano. From there, Tony could have kept Joe in the loop with what was happening in the Empire Bay underworld and maintained his apartment during his absence.
Side note: If we’re going with this theory, we can assume that Marcano may not have been on as friendly terms with the Clemente Family as he was with Vinci or Falcone, given that Joe (as a non-made associate with no formal protections) would have likely been handed over to Alberto/Luca if they were.
That said, the Clemente family were seen as crooked by the other families on the commission and not respected, especially after Vito told Leo Galante about Luca charging him and Joe $5000 each to join them. Therefore, Marcano probably didn’t feel inclined to deal with Joe based on Clemente’s poor reputation and to not stray from his alliance with Falcone.
I know this theory isn’t bullet-proof, and a lot of it is merely speculation, but it’s completely possible, considering the evidence shown and how Joe’s Adventures does a pretty half-baked job of explaining the situation and Joe and Tony Balls’ friendship.

When Joe skipped town for 5 years, rumor has it he actually made his way south, to New Bordeaux. Spent time there.... then at one point, knocked-up a Dominican woman (got her pregnant), but left, before the child was born. The other part of that rumor was that the child would become Lincoln Clay. Well...... if Father James' interview in Mafia 3 is anything to go on.

Lincoln was born January 1945. Joe left Empire Bay in February 1945.

I played this for hours back when I was middle school aged.
I don’t like how they went with the dlcs, barely any cutscenes, timed missions, leaderboard score?
The timer kills it for me, I’ve never finished it cause I just couldn’t be bothered. I don’t give a shit about leaderboards and all that crap, I just wanted to play the story and I can’t focus properly if I have to keep looking up every five seconds to see how much time I’ve got left. Stupid decision to put that in.

This DLC is actually fucking hard, even harder then trying to beat the entire Mafia 2 story on hard difficulty, I don't know if it was attentional or not, but either way, you're gonna die many times in this DLC.

I thought I was the only one that thought this. I done mafia 2 on all difficulties and I managed to complete it all without rarely dying. But the dlc version is a lot harder and I’m dying alot more

Amazing how they can't optimize a game from 2010 that can run on anything. Micro stutters all over the place while driving. There's either a problem with shader cache or texture loading. Idk what, but they need to fix it

i had some issues with the other side of it, i was trying to get Vito's car in Mafia 3. I had all my games linked and everything. Then I went back to play Mafia 2 again and then went back to Mafia 3. I had everything. So maybe play on Mafia 3 for a bit, then go back. Hope this helps!

@@Biggiesmurf420 nah, Lincoln was born Jan 1945 if I remember correctly, several months before Joe supposedly fled to New Bordeaux. One thing I would add to that theory is that Joe might have worked as a bouncer/doorman in the French Ward where Lou Marcano's drug rackets were and Tony Balls went down there to buy drugs from Marcano to ship back up to Empire bay. Maybe Tony met Joe at one of the bars and found common ground both being from Empire Bay in the Mafia. Again, just a theory though

I have a game theory. I think Joe Barbaro is Lincoln Clay father. In the game he said he go to bed with a Domenican and Father James say Lincoln mother was Domenican. I'm not sure but is a interesting theory.

So if that's true, Lincoln already met his father then

That’s because there are father and son when joe had to leave town he went to new Bordeaux slept with a black woman then joe left to empire bay in 1950 and father James later says Lincoln’s father was white while the mom was Dominican and since 1945 is the year joe Left is the year Lincoln clay was born.

During Joe's Adventures I did notice way more cops than in the main game.

Buckn5 Yes I was, loved it! The actual main missions were just as entertaining as Mafia 1 and 2 and the shooting/combat was very satisfying.
i love Mafia2 i just finished it 2days before but this Definitive edition only screws it up instead of adding something new to the game to make it even better!
It took me 3 days to finish mafia2. Damn good story, the driving and mission timers ruined parts for me. All in all solid.
They didn't bother to switch Falcone and Clemente at the very last cutscene, shame... Also prerendered cutscene with Joe wearing Vito's outfit? Just why..

I loved this dlc but I just wish mafia 2s expansions weren't full of boring side missions with only a few actual story bits sprinkled in between. Sure they have characters from the story give you the missions and they talk about how it relates to the current story situation but thsts just a way to excuse it I think. Especially in the jimmy dlcs I couldn't wait to get to the ending of it and not have to play it anymore. Yes I could've just not played it if I don't like it but the completionist in me wouldn't allow that lol

Where as here you trail,car explode when below 35 mile for 3 sec yeah mission was cool too,getting car back for charlie,that raving stuff , tht supermarket mission included heavy firing was also amazing,and there were more missions and yeah tht gun transport mission where a bunch of guys chae you that shit was amazing too
