Michael & Lester being old lifelong friends

- Michael and Lester had been friends ever since their young days, making them known as notorious criminals. While they criticize each other on their flaws, they make up for that by sticking up for one another in times of need.

Steven Ogg does a good job
i feel like the laugh after that line wasn’t even on the script, they just kept it in
Bro doesn't know Steven Ogg

They never argue. But when it’s Michael and Trevor it’s a different story😂
Michael and Lester still argue, but it’s like light banter, unlike the chaos between Michael & Trevor✨
@@KyoJo_V5 Michael and Lester have a healthy partnership, Michael sees Franklin as a son and Franklin acts like he hates Lamar sometimes but still knows that he’ll always be like his brother, but Michael and Trevor literally want to kill each other all the time
Well I can't blame Trevor, Micheal literally back-stabbed him and made a setup to get him killed despite Trevor being Micheal's bestfriend.
Never argue with a good Intel guy
True
I'm 97% sure that Franklin and Lester play videogames together from time to time.
100%
time to time? Or always?
I’d always admired Lester he was a very interesting character. The fact he knew exactly what Michael was doing at any given moment after north Yankton is scary. He was very understanding of the underworld too. After 10 years I still have a poster of him in his room looking at encrypted government codes. So badass.
Lester the Molester
lol@@gameznthingz
Ngl I feel like Michael is honestly VERY fucking lucky Lester wasn’t holding a huge grudge against Michael because I feel Iike if he wanted to he could 100% totally get Michael in prison as revenge for him getting brad killed and abandoning their crew and all of that, Not to mention if Lester DID hold some kind of grudge I feel like he would’ve came to Trevor early and told him exactly what Michael did and in this case Lester probably wouldn’t be mind Trevor perhaps caving Michael’s skull in
Look here,
Michael never mentioned Lester to Dave, and Lester took to working with other associates, such as the online protagonist.
6:26 "Too unpredictable" sure is one way to describe our online characters with myriads of criminal businesses and sci-fi level weaponry.

I wonder if the "Irish crazies" he mentions are the McCreary family, I doubt it. It could be though, the prologue happens in 2004 which is 4 years before GTA 4 so they all would be alive.

It was a knock on the genre itself, including BF.
@@hunter_0221COD hasn’t had that much change since Bo1 once they nailed the formula down. Battlefield was tits up until BF5. Maybe I’m overthinking it buts it’s definitely COD

7:20 Did you notice how the audio quality changes between the intercom and the natural voice depending on Lester's proximity? 10 years and this game still surprises me
amazing
7:40 I really like this detail. Michael is so afraid of Trevor that he conditioned himself to think he’s been dead for a long time. He doesn’t even bother to ask Lester if Trevor was still alive, he just interrogates him on how he died.
GTA 5 gets a lot of flak in the community for a poor story/writing, especially compared to GTA 4/SA. Moments like these though go to show how the writing is still really thought out
I've always liked the GTA 5 story I think its looked on poorly now mostly because of what GTA 5 became with online. I myself would have loved some story dlc with these characters maybe even a whole expansion ala ballad of gay tony/lost and the damn focusing on each individual character more.
It's not bad, but it does feel a bit muddled compared to SA and IV. I feel like Franklin gets shafted by the three-protagonist mechanic the most, since most of the story goes into Michael and Trevor's dynamic. Franklin doesn't get a lot of development, and he's left to play the straight-man to Trevor and Lamar's antics, and Michael's moodiness, which, to me at least, makes him come off as a nag.
Another thing is how the stories unfold:
SA: CJ gets betrayed and has to build himself back up to the point where he can take back his home.
IV: Niko arrives in a new place and is torn between seeking a new start and obtaining revenge for the darkest moment of his past.
V: Mostly about Michael's deal with Dave to betray Trevor and Brad, but with a bunch of sub-plots weaved in that divide the games focus a bit too much.
Ultimately I feel like R* made the right call with IV in focusing the main story on Niko and putting Johnny and Luis into their own separate DLCs. GTA V's writing just feels like the writers were spinning too many plates.
But that's just my take.
I feel mostly the problems of GTA V are the villains and side characters. Whereas the old games had people like Gonzalez, Lance, Sonny, Big Smoke, Sweet, Ryder, Caesar, Toreno, Woozie, The Truth, Packie, Francis, Playboy X, Manny, Dimitri, Roman, Little Jacob, Rastaman, Brucie, Mallorie, Michelle, and a couple others that were all a strong side cast and definitely memorable, GTA V doesn't have much of that. The only ones I can remember off the top of my head is Lamar, Lester, Simeon (who was sidelined too early), Davey, Madrazo, Michael's family, Ron, Wade, Chef, Patricia, Friedlander, and... that one dude who worked at the contstruction. And the fact that some of these characters barely even appeared. It's even worse when you compare the villains, but I think I've made my point.
What is however the true highlight of GTA V's story and one that many people refuse to accept are the protagonists. The story, the acting, their background, mannerisms, and everything are all captured fucking perfectly, and I know this might be ballsy but I'd say they are about as good as Niko Bellic and definitely tower amongst the other protags. They are still the best part of this game, everytime I replay the story I always catch new detail and background to them, and everytime they just shine more and more. I honestly think the protags carry the entire story.
@@bartsussygaming487yeah like Devin Weston isn’t even worthy of tying Tenpenny’s shoes in terms of Villainy
@@Noah_Levy I find it to *be* Franklin's story actually. He is only sidelined *because he himself feels sidelined.* Intentionally.
While in the first heist, he made money, he kept getting shafted after. He did all the pro work and he was never happy. Go hit his bong, Franklin's depressed as all hell. He's genuinely depressed. He's learning that even with money, and the home from Lester, happiness doesn't come along with it.
At one point, as he's getting cars, he straight up says "If I hadn't met you, this is the exact shit I'd be doing." And that is why he makes the final choice. There's a lot of foreshadowing and attempts to sway you (the player's) final choice.
As the game comes closer to completion, we see him seeing the worst sides of Mike. And Mike gets verbally aggressive with him during the FIB Raid. With Trevor, we hear him literally say "Trevor and I are cool" to the feds.
The entire game, we're told about loyalty from Trevor, survival from Mike. Even though he's got a huge house now, at the end of the game... He's still Franklin. We as the player decide how he's developed as a character. "The Sensible Option" is the mission name for when you burn Trevor alive. Deathwish is of course the canon answer. Where he does what he has to do to survive; and he puts his trust in his friends. Mike, Lester, Lamar, and Trevor. It's the culmination of the lessons he learned from them.
He survived by putting his trust in his crew. All the loyalty lessons from Trevor. All the survival from Mike. The coordination from Lester. And Lamar, because they have each other's backs.
ARGH I LOVE IT SO MUCH, WHEN PEPOLE PUT ATTENTION TO THOSE FRIENDSHIPS!!
Ikr?✨
It's pretty telling how chill Lester is towards Michael despite what happened in North Yankton. Plus, with Lester being this savvy with information, he probably already knew of Michael's actions, and unlike Trevor (who left Michael to the mercy of the Triads when he found out, and unless the player chose Ending C, they never patch things up), was hardly antagonistic about it. Though Lester did make Michael do some grunt work to earn his trust back, but once it's done, the two were able to plan the heists together with minimal friction (mostly Lester chiding Michael for the consequences of his actions). Heck, Lester gave Michael's son Jimmy a job in GTA Online, albeit being in a menial role, but the fact that Lester gave Jimmy a chance shows the level of friendship he has with Michael.
Well Michael never mentioned him
You notice too how Michael generally tolerates his biting comments about his life. He's one of the few people he wouldn't fly off the deep end at over hearing him say some of the things he does.
@@WC3fanatic997 He knows Lester isn't a threat to him physically though. We see Mike literally assert that before the FIB Raid. That heist is meant to sway your choice to possibly kill Mike at the end.
Lester's too dangerous to kill, he's too valuable to not be friends with. If he knew there'd be no possible consequence, like Lester likely having a Dead-Man's Switch, I bet he'd have been taken down too.
13:21 "Wheelchair or not!"
*runs Trevor over*
"We're still faster than your ass!"

2:12 I forgot Lester’s first mission is killing Zuck on live tv for no reason lol
It’s almost like Lester knew that someday Michael was going to reach out to him. So he watched Michael closely and moved to where Michael moved and simply waited for the day where Michael would need his help again.
I think it was keep tabs on Michael for “insurance purposes”
10 years later, Lester is still 100% right for movies

I kinda like Lester because he’s a pretty cool guy. But when he mentions of our online characters being too unpredictable he’s kinda got a point. No one knows what we are going to do or how we plan to do things in heists missions or anything. The only ones who know what we are going to do is us. One minute someone thinks we will go stealth. The next we go guns blazing on everyone killing anyone and anything on sight. Our online characters only do the things we make them do. We control our characters lives. We do things our ways. When things don’t work out we find another way to make a mission effective. We fail going stealth we go loud (except if you are more of a stealth person than you just restart the whole mission). But no one can predict what we are going to do next. People like Lester think we are doing things his way. But we do things our way all the time. Pavel even says at some point in the Cayo perico heist that it’s our operation that we choose to do. Our characters are just different than the story mode characters. Because no one knows what we will do next. Sometimes not even us.

One of the biggest holes I found storywise was Michael asking Lester about Trevor, Lester saying he basically fell off the grid. Only to tell him while casing the Paleto Score that he saw the title of ownership and glassware ordered for the joint a year prior.
I think it would have been interesting if we have a GTA online character when doing the story missions, if you'd get the choice to assign them to the crew, for the heists.
