Hi, I just found your channel. I was just eyeballing that sourdough discard Peach Upside Down Cake! OMG that looks amazing ....gotta make it since it's peach season, lol. Then I saw this nut roll. I LOVE old fashioned recipes!! I'm an old country girl, grew up back in a holler in West Virginia. I have a old fashioned nut roll recipe that came from our Italian neighbor when I was a kid. I was born in 1955. I have to make this Polish roll sometime in the near future. This sounds out of this world delicious! Thanks for sharing with us folks who love to bake!!
For their 62 year marriage, my Mom made this every Christmas for my Dad. Now that's she's 91 and I'm 'helping' her make it, I'm here trying to learn the nuances of making it come out looking good. It always tastes good but since we are sharing with friends, the finished product has to look nice, too.

See,now my mother and her mother ground the walnuts up then they would roll the dough and use a food grade paintbrush and just paint the dough with the melted butter then pour and spread the ground walnuts over the butter. Paint the doughs edges with butter and roll up the pastry. Looks awesome and now I want some. Great job.
When You Make Your Nut Roll 😊 After It Bakes & Cools Make A White Or Maple Icing Fondue & Spread It Over The Top Of The Nut Roll At Whatever Thickness You Like 😊 Then Top It Off With Crushed Walnuts 😊 Makes A Great Presentation For Any Holiday Or Occasion & Taste Absolutely Delicious 😊 Enjoy 😊

Good lord I have that exact oven. Samsung. Actually I've had mostly problems with my entire Samsung kitchen, with the oven being the least, the fridge and the dishwasher being the most. As in terrible repair and time out to repair and defrost your fridge is unacceptable. We ditched the dishwasher after I repaired it 5x. Fridge is next.
I would've put it on parchment paper. Greasing your pan with butter will burn slightly as you witnessed you had some slight burn. Butter burns. There was plenty of butter in your recipe for a flavorful nut roll. Should not have taken you an entire day. . . And then some. But overall it looked really nice and I'm sure it was delicious as your expression proved at nearly midnight. The more you make it, the better you will perfect it.
When following a new and sometimes complicated recipe, for the first...not to even MENTION the fact that she was filming, narrating, and teaching the viewer so nicely...I think the time taken was not overly long, it would've taken me absolutely forever...no...longer, as I'd never be confident enough to do it...but it took barely a minute or two to criticize her. Nicely done, to you, as well! Quick and incisive
