Just finding this in 2024, and I am kinda pissed off about it because I sure could have used this song through the last 40 years of my life. It's adrenaline packed into a great song!
my old friend Harry's dad, Rick Jones, was the bassist of Jerry's Kids which Rick's brother was the lead of before gang green, and Chris apparently doesn't even remember if he's saying "gimme a line" at the beginning or not 😅 last i heard in 2017 he had a stroke and he's sober now
I have loved GG since the late 80's and even made it onto the back cover photo of 'Can't LIVE Without out' recorded at The Marquee club in London in 1990, in 2007 I spent the London show crewing for them and out on the tiles with Chris until 3am. This video may be the last way that I would like to remember them by now, Chris in his element still, before a stroke a few years between then and now has left him unable to play guitar, he is back, singing again, and on tour in the UK this August '23. I may go, but I don't wish to see him struggle ❤❤❤

My punk band - SGM - opened for them on a 5 date tour of Canada. So fucking good. They toured with their own US Budweiser because Canadian bud tastes different.
i figured theyd opt for stronger canadian beer (back then, american beer had to not be above a certain alcohol percentage). get some Schooners or 8% alc Carlsberg Gold. i think Molson Export was stronger. they were serving Carlsberg green pounders in Columbus at a cheater slicks show. Schooner was high brow beer when i was in high school. "an honest brew makes its own friends". Elsinore was the best.

I guess that reflects on the neighborhood of proud Irish multigenerational crash test dummy alcoholism and drug usage I grew up in, as well as where my general interests lay at that youthful time😁(I do remember the straight edge type talk seeming like some kinda foreign language I didn't even wanna try to understand, it just did not compute with my operating system back then)
Olivette Community Center for the St. Louis stop that tour if I'm not mistaken. Had the pleasure of bringing the band to STL on their next trip through town. My stepdad worked at Anheuser Busch so I had a lot of Budweiser gear I was trying to send to the band prior to that tour. It kept getting sent back and never signed for because they didn't know who it was from. If memory serves, that is what Chuck told me. Went to Denny's with Glen and Chuck and couple of friends after the show. Those were the days.
Craig Thompson - in St Louis there was a girl who we went to the brewery with and whose house we crashed at. Her parents were away. She is in the movie a bit especially the brewery bar scene. That’s her BBQ at the end I think. I dunno who she is or how we got in touch with her. Maybe thru MRR?

One of the truest songs about substance abuse because when you'd 'rather drink than fuck' or substitute drink for any other substance you know you've got a problem.
i think Jerrys Kids put out the best music, they could play. this is a classic us punk track and a big snub to the meatheaded sxe scene that kinda dominated boston. classic, im talking top 10 material. Jerrys Kids were called boring live because they were too busy playing to jump around. they had one of the best drummers in any genre, he just chose to play fast and in a punk band. their album was killer after killer. how did Mission of Burma hang with these bands? i always wonder if they were pals or what? cheater slicks definitely didnt fit in and left for the open minded midwest early on.
