Try Not To Tic Challenge | Tourette Syndrome FAIL

- Hey everyone! Today I do the Try Not To Tic Challenge ...and let me just say it was a BAD IDEA. It was so hard and tic suppression should never be encouraged in people with Tourette Syndrome, so I failed this challenge pretty badly. The Try Not To Tic Challenge or Try Not To Move Challenge for people with Tourettes is SO HARD OMG. With all the trends like Tourettes Vs Egg and stuff, I have no idea how people can do it lol...Big big oof.
As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:
Thanks for watching!

Woah, you really held them in for a while. I tried to suppress my tics along with you and I only lasted roughly twenty-five seconds.
Now you should probably rest for a while, going that long must have been excruciating.
Yes it was so difficult omg!!
You didn’t fail you won. Two minutes and 5 seconds is a very long time to not tic when you’re forcing yourself. You looked like you were in pain so please don’t do this anymore. And by the way shame on your family for telling you to suppress cause they can’t handle your tics. 😑 that’s disgusting and I’m sorry that your own family treats you like that.
U did quite well. I didnt last as long as you but I'm having a bit so good tic day anyway
It was soooo hard omg
I'm diagnosed with OCD but I also think I have a mild tourettes (I have never went to a doc regarding it) - twitching my ears, scalp and forehead, sometimes producing simple sounds. Sometimes when I'm tired and haven't slept enough, compulsive mimicking get so strong that my face starts to hurt. Then I tried to suppress it and I really felt panic, heartbeat, hyperkinesia buildup in my facial muscles, it felt like I had trouble breathing, in other words, I was itching to tic immensely. Anyway, I began to challenge myself to suppress the tics when they get especially intense so that my face doesn't hurt that much despite the unpleasant sensations. Somehow it helped me in the long run and I tic much less, it only happens when I'm very stressed or haven't slept enough and they are now far less intense. I guess I can say I virtually don't have tics by now. It may not be tourettes, but those were definitely tics which I occasionally had since childhood and yes, in my case I "unteached" myself from ticking by suppressing them more and more. I guess for some people it would feel as if getting off a long-term severe addiction. Anyway if you have tics, suppressing them gradually, increasing time of suppression day by day, second by second, may be helpful.
I'm from the future and this guy is full of BS. He doesn't have tourettes and his tics are unrelated to it
@@mihanichwhat 😭
@@YouAreStarDust yeah I don't have Tourette. Just tics.
Oh dear that did look so hard! But thank you for showing!
Thanks for watching!! (:
Have you looked into Habit Reversal Training and/or other methods, like dental appliances and whatnot? I don't have a tic disorder, but it's just really interesting that it seems like some/many people can mostly or entirely defeat the tics.
I did a little bit of HRT when I was younger!
@@TiccingTogether Did it help? I saw a really fascinating video demonstrating CBIT.
I'm a suscriber since..yesterday? I'll work through more of your stuff. New and old =D Sorry for upvoting old videos but I have to say: you are amazing and you do amazing. Hope noone will tell you otherwise ♡ greetings from germany
Thank you so much for subscribing!! 💜
With just one other Person around or in Public i can like completly not tic. The Fear to 'blame' myself for doing Tics is so high that i do not have the Pressure to do it and do not do it. Being alone, same like you
...
I have rls and like it’s completely voluntary movement but if I choose not to move my leg what you describes sounds a lot like it lol
