    Such an under-rated song writer and guitarist - sheesh he is a sonic BEAST!

    I got this in college in 1990 with the Columbia Record Club "14 CD's for one penny" deal. I liked Husker Du but probably preferred this album. I've lived abroad since graduating and didn't realize shows like Letterman had people like Mould on. Also I totally wouldn't have recognized Mould, frankly back in the day I never knew what my favorite musicians looked like.

    Difference between Letterman and Leno is that Leno would never have some like Mould on the show. Letterman's always loved music, always willing to showcase artists he simply thought were bold and brilliant.

      Letterman probably helped introduce a lot of folks to the underground/indie rock scene or stuff that would eventually become mainstream success over the years. He was the one network show to have R.E.M. on for their first album, and I believe the only late night to have them on before Out of Time became a worldwide hit.

    I'm glad I lived long enough to see short-haired, short-bearded, bespectacled rockers providing the main power of the song....

    Listening to this makes me so nostalgic for the 80's. So much incredible music.. pixies, replacements, sonic youth.. I won't even get into all the punk rock from that era, as that would take more time and space than we've got here. Makes me sad for kids today. Auto tuned pop crap that spouts nothing but a celebration of stupidity; champagne, fat stacks, gold chains, bitches. Just fucking sad.

      I love you man. I miss the days you could take a board downtown, pay 5 bucks, see a bunch of local bands with the likes of Bad Religion, Descendents, 7 Seconds,Exloited, Black Flag, Husker Du, etc. Sometimes the venue would have a half pipe and one creepy guy that everyone knew was creepy and you didn't feel bad about letting him know you would kick his arse if he even looked your way. Course back then we weren't scared of everything either.

      +QuadropheniaBrosef Lol I was like who? I was thinking it was Alison...so I googled and realized yeah, same person. I met Alison back when she was with Verbow. She was very nice and Jason was cool as shit too. Not too many "rockstars" actually talk to you, they just answer you, but the both of them were really quite awesome. Sadly, I haven't really kept up with either of them and I never knew she developed a stage name.

      +crushsatan +1. One thing that always distracted me on old Husker albums was the drumming. I won't go into it but being a drummer...it just was a weak spot. This is a great band here. Jon is a fantastic drummer and Jason is amazing cover the low end and complementing Bob's vocals as well. As a three piece these guys cover a whole lot of sonic spectrum.

    • @chrisjaybecker4395
      @chrisjaybecker4395 8 років тому +2

      +elsquibbs Jason Narducy pops up in the weirdest places, too. He's featured on the first episode of HBO's Foo Fighters Sonic Holidays show, the Chicago episode. It turns out that Narducy was in a Junior High School punk band called Verboten with Dave Grohl's cousin Tracey Bradford. On a summer holiday visit, Tracey and Jason took young Dave to his very first punk rock show... how's that for a butterfly effect?

    Great job Bob!!!...Question: When you or any other group for that matter preform on on Dave's show, SNL etc... Do end up playing a few songs or a set for the audience or is it just one song. I have always wondered?

      shows have specific timelines. bands only perform the songs the TV audience sees - unless it was a "Live on Letterman" performance - which is like a mini concert in the Letterman studio without anything else. Re: SNL, bands just want to relax at the after party and not perform as far as I've seen.

    • @edwardgiovannelli5191
      @edwardgiovannelli5191 Рік тому

      I never was Letterman live, but I have seen Stephen Colbert, who does the same show in the same studio, twice. They had a band on one of those shows and they only played the one song that was put on the air. Interestingly, Stephen introduced them incorrectly and they got about 15 seconds into the song and stopped and the singer asked if they could re-do that.
      Colbert came back out on stage and re-did the entire intro and they played the song through. They didn't play anything else and the audience was ushered out right after.
      None of that made it onto the show that night, only the smooth (corrected) into and the song. It was a pretty cool experience.
