That beautiful emerald green poison bottle would turn out beautifully if you put it through a rock tumbler with a fine grit. A rock tumbler can remove the "sick" from glass, and sea glass, making the bits appear shiny and clear like little gems. Love the brass look on the bottle too. 😊
That metal plate with the figures on the boat might be the seven lucky gods on the treasure boat. On New Years in Japan the seven lucky gods are supposed to arrive on a treasure boat.
Si-Finds, Send an image of that flamingo colored bead to Northern Mudlarks. Ask them about the brothers in the 20s making Egyptian style jewelry. The beads are apparently on the rare side, as bead collecting goes. Gail and Alex can fill in the details for you. Nice gold. 24K?
Your trips to the dump nerve fail to excite me. Green bottles, coins, chins, doll faces, mortar shells, and old newspapers. I bet Kit a Caboodle and Norther Mudlarkers would love to spend a day or two hunting the dump with you and your friends. I would too but as I am in Kansas USA and 70 yrs old the chance of my getting to the UK is slim at best. I'll just live my mudlarking thrills through my UA-cam friends. Please stay safe. ❤
Hi, at 7.38 the page from the book is a chapter called the Potter’s Field, the poor people’s burial ground in the New York City slums mid 1880’s. The book is called How the Other Half Lives by Jacob Riis who was wealthy man who lived in the tenement slums of New York and wrote what he saw. Book came out in 1896 or 1898 I believe. Interesting you found in the dump in England during that time period!
I'm glad you took the sink home. When I first saw it I was thinking it would make a nice planter for flowers in a garden, but your sink installation is a great idea!
Thank you Si. That was a fine tribute to a forgotten soldier and being the son of a soldier who fought to free the world of evil in 1945, I appreciate the effort you’ve put forth in bringing his memory back. If he has surviving family they should be proud of him.
Just seems like such wholesome and wonderful friendships. I enjoy all of your videos but especially the ones with Kev. (And obviously the ones with Nelson and the rescue chickens)
Yes! I love when you go to a dump! And with my favorites Terry and Kev! Wow Kev finds the good stuff !! The sink looks great , and the poison bottle looks very cool ! You always get my creative wheels turning . Another great video Simon 👍🏻✌🏼👊🏼❤️☀️
Guys, that was a great haul! The bottles....omg...the colors! Wow...I am just amazed..the Bovril and the dolls face. The ceramic bottle was so 👌! That is a great bottle dump...very full of historyyyyyy!
I use pot lids as kitchen hooks. (I used to live near Stoke and could get lots of pretty odd lids from Spode and other top manufacturers) I fix several different ones to a piece of wood for an eclectic set for hanging over gloves, tea towels etc.
What a great little hobo. Love that glycol thymoline bottle. Really great find was the dragon/boat piece. Maybe cut out dragon and boat then attach them to a wooden tray? The tub would also be a lovely garden pot. Fantastic finds altogether and thanks for taking us along.
Denture cleaning tablets will take the staining off bottles, my have to do a couple of times. I use it on my soda water bottles that come out of the ground.
Crazy to find labels still attached! And to find a complete little hobo. He can wonder again now that he’s no longer down in the dumps. You guys found so many treasures. It’s great for you to get together for these treasure hunts.
Maybe I am in the minority, however I would like to see more actual digging out of these items. How much more exciting it would be! I'm surprised you lugged that sink back to your home and I am very impressed. Love that sink!
I love what you said about the sink. I agree with you and think it is poetic and something every school child should hear and write a report about. We all need to upcycle. I love to.
Kevin comes up with some of the best bottles! That one right after the coin at the beginning of the video caught my eye. I am so jelly of the history you gents find! One man's muck is another man's treasure 😊
Sweet fun guys and Si, love the re-purpose on the sink! My favorite place on the old farm was the outside sink! So handy! Enjoy! Also, a FYI about cleaning glass; my Grandma thought me to use shaving cream! It’s non-toxic, smells good and cleans great! It is also beneficial for use on bathroom mirrors. It helps minimize steam on your mirror after a hot shower! Happy Mudlarking!
Love Kevins finds. Everyone had a good day! Fun! Thank you, Si. Love the outdoor sink! Upcycling is the way. I upcycle disgarded fabric into aprons, dresses and whatever comes to mind. The green not to be taken looks great!
What a wondrous dump. Just full of goodies. I got so excited seeing the wire figure pottery holder. I have collected a bunch of old pieces of pottery, glass, etc, whole metal detecting and larking along old mill streams, that just sit in a box., I’m inspired to make some kind of cosmic display with wire. Happy for you with the nostalgic sink that will get well used. Hope to see you all revisit that site again.
Catching up on my UA-cam videos -- was away in Ohio visiting my daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons (I live in Maryland). Great to have "buddy time" at a dump! And the great variety of things that you can find there -- and some intact. And I definitely want to know more about that shell -- who tossed it out in the trash????? Cheers!!!!
You have to follow up with Kev, so we can see what he's able to do with that! I'm always amazed at how clever some folks are. Think about Nicola's art with all the plastic trash she picks up! I believe Kev is going to think up something kinda cool.
Player's Navy Cut loose tobacco...I used to buy my grandfather a tin for Christmas back in the 70s.....recognized it right off! Lol...he used to roll his own smokes. Nice finds and thanks for bringing back fond memories!

I was just telling my son about that cool sink you found, and I thought people pay a lot of money for those sinks nowadays and there’s one right there at the dump.
