I’ve always wondered where one for the road a final beer “ he’s on the wagon” that’s awesome! I always learn new stuff from this channel! Cheers 🍻
Thanks! 👍🏻🐾🧡
We call em "road sodas" 😂
Yeah that was a new one for me too : )
I could listen to you just reading the phone book. You're mighty adorable.
Thanks Danny! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you for a nice little vacation without luggage. These mudlarking videos are helping me to get through the times of Covid-19.
“One for the Road!” and “He’s on the Wagon!”
Nice to hear the Explanation of the Meanings👍
Nice Job All Around.🇬🇧
Some Good Finds There.👀
👻
Thanks Rob. Didn’t Frank Sinatra sing about that? One for my baby... and one more for the road.... 👍🏻
Si-finds Thames Mudlark
I was singing it already 😃
Si, I LOVE your videos. I watch them constantly. It makes my sickness easier to deal with. Bless you and Nicola.
Thanks Tina! Wishing you luck in your bunk! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Si and Tim poking thru Victorian trash. gold in the fold.
Aw that vase is lovely! Reminds me of a gourd!
Interesting factoid about The Swan, highwaymen and origination of the terms "One for the road" and "On the wagon." Life's an endless journey on a road to knowledge. I just love learning how old sayings, wive's tales and superstitions I grew up hearing about, came to be. Lovely selection of bottles and bits you have there. I only wish we had an ages old dump in my proximity. There is a secret place, near a river, in what is now a local park and marina, where in the 1930's through about the 1960's, people would dispense with their unwanted items and trash. The strangest thing I've found there, is an old Indian motorcycle, which must have given up it's ghost and was left to decay amidst the cast offs. A tree has now claimed it for it's own, winding it's roots through, over and around it. It's really sort of surreal to see. Left unbothered, Mother nature seems to quietly and calmly, reclaim everything. Great video as usual. See you next week.
Wow I'd love to see a picture of that!
Nice to learn about "one for the road" and "On the wagon" Great prize Si. Thanks
Love the cutaways to give the history of what you've found, really good touch. Great channel, great video and great work!
Thanks Dan!
Just the greatest adventures 😊❤️
Cheers Mudlover👍🏻🐾🧡
These Victorians really did have an eye for design, unlike today with our generic plastic crap (excuse my French).
MrShannonite agreed👍 Tims fluent in French apparently so no excuse needed🤣
the Victorians problem was they didn't know when to stop ... no Victorian designer ever uttered the word, "enough!"
I agree!
I kinda like the ugly vase. Can't wait to see it cleaned up and finished as a project 😁
Hi Si, I saw the article in the Mail about you. You are a mudlarking superstar. Great article. Happy to see you today as always☮️🇨🇦❤️
I love hearing the history behind your finds. I can’t wait to see what this “award” becomes.
Me too! Thanks 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love how you give us the history of your finds.
Thank you
Love how you put the historical bits in your videos!! All these cool things are considered “modern” in British archeological standards...but for this American, this stuff is historical and fascinating!
Thanks Polly, yes I personally love the Victorian era, the finds are in abundance (over here) and the history is easily researched and often takes you down a worm hole of discovery!
my sister and I would have a contest every xmas, who could give the weirdest/ugliest gift, and you had to display it in your house for 1 year, it was loads of laughs, your trophy reminds me of those good times.
From Victorian toot to modern treasure. Great!
9 years ago on 24th May I stumbled upon a celebration for Bob Dylans 70th birthday at the location for Subteranean Homesick Blues. About 20 poets and musicians were playing and reciting Dylon-esque prose and covers of his songs. We stayed for a couple of hours, it was a surreal and somewhat magical chance find on a sunny Sunday London afternoon. Incidentally, I think the alley just down from there has London's last remaining gas powered street lamp. I could be wrong with that 'fact' though TBH. It's somewhere around there.
I think there already is a "Turnip Prize" for awefully excecuted art. LOL
spinny2010 there's around 1500 functioning gas lights in London still but the one you saw is the last surviving sewer gas light which burns excess biogas from the sewer. Pretty cool safety device that also supplies free lighting 👍🍺
@@drunkdunc8738 That's it! I'd forgotten it's particular significance. Thanks for the correction/reminder.
Drunk Dunc in the name of green energy - maybe they should bring them back?
Si-finds Thames Mudlark I'm guessing Londons sewers are too well vented these days to comply with safety regs to be able to power them but it goes to show how much usable gas is being vented to the atmosphere 24/7
Such a coincidence...I found a tiny 2oz Bovril jar just this week and was looking up its history earlier today and read about the green and amber bottles which came about when the manufacturer ran low on chemicals to make the brown ones...very rare finds Si...and they are really cute bottles...enjoyed the vid...cheers
Ah thanks Maggie. I didn’t know that! Thanks!!
1 mans trash is another mans treasure!
Lovely finds .
Spot on Adam! ✌🏻
Thanks Si and Tim. I'm keen on the earthen ware finds. Guess that makes me utilitarian. To each their own. Ok... common. It makes me common. 🤣🤣🤣😉💜
haha never
You could look up Tancrede Societe de Maestricht and you will find a whole lot of pictures of the pattern. It could be the foot of a ‘kastkom’ a cabinet bowl. Societe de Maestricht is a very famous ceramics factory in Holland.
Awesome thank you!
Or ‘so -shits’ as it’s called here! 😂
That art glass vase is actually pretty cool, I think. If the leg wasn't broken, you could cut off the broken top. Probably looks much nicer cleaned up.
Nice one
I have to confess, I like that weird little vase.
JoRiver11 I also like it!
A dump just filled with amazing treasures. I love the history that goes along with your finds.
Hi Mudlover. So many bottles dear friend as always love your video. hope u well take care mudlover 👣💯👌🌸🌟✨
Thanks Mudlover! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Nice dig Si, loved the peacock bottle beautiful, keep going strong. Lovely tea break.🇨🇦🐘♥️
I love the tiny perfume bottles. Collect them . History in the dump. Great place. Wish we had places like that here. Thank you.
Thanks Helen!
Another great video! Thank you for taking us on your adventures, have a great day and week!
Thanks Errol - you too pal!
Hello Si and Tim, great video. Great finds. The Swan story very interesting. On the wagon, and one for the road is 450 years old. Brought over from England in the very, very old days. Those sayings are still used a lot in The States. I myself have always said one more for the road. But I wasn’t drinking I was rolling mine. Lol lol Carry on men, Joyce. ARROW *🎱. 🇺🇸. ❤️. 😎. 🍺🍻
haha thanks Joyce!
Interesting to know where "one for the road" and " on the wagon" come from. Looks like you guys had a good time dig. Can't wait for your next adventure!
Bottle digging looks so much fun. Love the loads of little bottles that came up from that area 😍
Thanks Alex, I love them too, they don't take up too much room! lol
Love the video. Love the finds. Especially love the ‘turnip’ prize!! 🤣
😂 thanks Patsy!
The little bottles are too cute
You guys down south don't know how lucky you are having great tips to dig and also not too deep....ok I'm envious...great vlogs
Another interesting collection of cast-offs from the past - I'd love to know what those oldtimers who threw all that away would think to you guyz digging it back up! That Award certainly has potential to be an award winner! Stay safe with all that glass! 🎃🐾🦘🐱🏍👍😉
Omgosh! I want to jump through the screen and dig along with you! I love all the bottles and interesting finds. If you have too many of anything put them on your Etsy. Or Ebay sites. Id happily purchase items (if they aren't terribly expensive 😂) There aren't any bottle dumps like that in Michigan! Thank you so much for sharing your adventures!
I would love to purchase things too, but the postage costs more than the items do in Australia.
From the other side of the world, my Google News Feed suggested an article from the Daily Mail about YOU and my mind was blown. I "know" (wink-wink) that guy. YAY!!!!
That’s awesome!
Such beautiful bottles, the lump of glass is beautiful!!
Another great video! Nice to know where some of the old sayings come from. Didn’t realize that there were different coloured Bovril bottles. Great job, thanks.😀
Yes I love looking at the origins of phrases! Who knows if it’s true but fun nonetheless 👍🏻🐾🧡
I love this dump! Even the Bovril bottles are beautiful!
Really enjoyed this today. Love all the different shapes and colours of the bottles. So nice to see the friendship you two have and that you know how to have a relaxing fun time in the different world we are experiencing this year. Have a great week and keep safe.
Thanks Diann. We do enjoy ourselves a bit too much 👍🏻🐾🧡
The gourd shaped vase is really beautiful!!
well made that's for sure!
Haven’t seen you in awhile, but here you are, glad your back.
Hi Jerri, I’ve been posting every week. Have you turned on notifications?
If the victorious knew that people were excitedly digging up their garbage they would never believe it.
The list of things I want to find is now on its third page! So much treasure! Thanks for the history lessons Si 😍💕❤️
Haha, me too! My pleasure Beth 👍🏻🐾🧡
Those different coloured bovrils looked fab x
Great believable story of On The Wagon and One For The Road
I know, right?
Awww you won a tacky trophy! Go Si!
😂👍🏻🐾🧡
Goody goody goody!!!!! Expletives!!!
Lovely bottle finds and the green chunk of glass beauty
Thanks Billie!
Love the 'onion vase'.
🍿😎👍 fantastic day ♥️ all the finds ✌️♥️
Saw your article in the daily mail. Brilliant.
Thanks Jennifer!
Si, I love all your vids! The Victorian pot lid reminds me of my dear Two Fat Ladies who loved to cook with anchovy essence and paste.
I love anchovies on Pizza!
dont ask me why, but in the world of condiments, i think anchovies get a bad rap
Ahh! Obsessed with the collection of three little bottles! Beautiful fall colors!!
Yes they do have Autumn colours don’t they! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Thank you for another amazing virtual treasure hunt the bottles you and your mate found are so beautiful I always look forward to your vidios never boring always something different have a great day
Thank you Mudlover!
Si Thank You!
for the creativity & content👍.
Thanks Dudley!
I love those unusual bottles there. Really good finds there. You need to put a head on top of that trophy, maybe a creepy doll's head. LOL
I live in Florida USA. I enjoy watching your videos. I wish there were places close to where I live to go digging like you do for such wonderful treasures. I especially love the tiny bottles you are finding. They would be my favorite. I could collect a lot of those because they don't take up as much space. I would like to find the colored ones too. Cobalt blue, red, yellow , green and aqua are my favorite color. I would also like to collect the colored sea glass and marbles.. Mostly smaller bits to put in jars and bottles. I have lots of jars and bottles filled with seashells I have handpicked from beaches all over Florida.
Love the historical bits, well done. Wonderful bubble glass bottles but my fav is all the crockery.
Love that penny perfume-I haven’t dug one with a neck like that before
loved it. I would literally fill my room up with bottles but I don't have space and I would have an unhappy mom.
A handful of things. One. I knew Tyburn was west London, but didn't know it was where Marble Arch was. That whole piece of info about the pub was interesting, thanks for enlightening me ;) And, I liked that 'onion' vase personally. Never knew Bovril came in different colours. Could that have been 'them' developing a glass that is better for its contents, if that makes sense? Like you don't often see red wine in white glass, kinda thing. And, as I'm here, I may not always comment, but I enjoy my sunday mudlarks with you and Nicole :) Thanks for the videos.
I loved the mystery of the dig like oak island but on a smaller scale. LOL ;)
gotta love those victorians..they had such interesting stuff
They certainly did!!
Do you know so you are so entertaining as well as knowledgeable.love the way you find modern uses for old things.also respect you only take what you need leave for others to find again.true professional.great videos.love the craft ones.x
Thanks Julie!
the little spirit flask on it's side so the broken hole is on top could be a nice container for a dried flower arrangement. but if they are common probably not worth the weight in your bags. just a thought.
Great finds! Always enjoy the bottle dumps 😊 The dinky bottles are so cool. Thanks mudlover! 👍
Thanks Mudlover!
So many nice finds! Congrats to you both!
Cheers Dave!
I am intrigued by that sheldrake bottle!
I've got one of those Burgess lids, I've had it for many, many years, it was bought at a junk market for pennies and is in perfect condition. I loooooove the different coloured Bovril jars and the chunk of blue glass, gorgeous! xx
Nice one Jan!
Lots of really beautiful bottles!
I received a note from you yesterday but my spasy fingers killed it before I could read it ( 5/22/22). It was routed thu Nicola White. Anyway, sorry I screwed up but since my stroke I know that only one screw up day a day would be a miracle. LOL Anyway, greetings from Arkansas and thanks for your attempt at responding. You’re a dandy. Thanks again ol buddy.
That flask was a nice find. I like the one the wagon’ story. Made me laugh. Oh, that ‘turnip’ bottle is a good one. There are some unusual bottles in that area. That vase base, cut down would make a nice coin. Keys, or cuff links holder. The caterers bottle was sweet, too bad it was broken. Great adventure and finds👍
Thanks Coni! Yes another project to put on the list. 😂
Oh that was fun! The glass vase would have been nice to find whole! TFS Hugs!
Have to admit of all the bottles found I love the ink bottles best!
They are cute
Hey Si. Your clips are outstanding Fascinating! Thanks
Thank you so much! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love the north Kent tips .
Some history on those bottles love the history of your finds great video
I like Treasure, can't wait to see what you all fine, 👍🐺
Thank you 👍🏻🐾🧡
Love 💚 the knowledge that comes with the finds.
These finds were a pleasant surprise....The Savoy, where I visited my friend Mike who always stayed there when visiting London (didn't know about the Dylan video shot there!) and The Swan, my friend Mike's favorite drinking hole, where I also had a few....but everyone else inside was from New Jersey?!?!? Lost my friend Mike a few years ago, thanks for reminding me of these great memories.
Great dig guys ,
Thanks pal! 👍🏻🐾🧡
Those are AWESOME bottles!
Thanks 👍
Saved this for Monday, Thanksgiving in Canada. You and Tim brought great joy with this dig. The Bovril's brought back brilliant memories, as these were so common for my bro. and me to find in our "down in the dumps" days--keep on sharing, this has made my day.
Thanks!
Congratulations!!💕
So love your videos! You could narrate or do docs for BBC! Thank you Si!
Ah thank you!
Love the history lesson on those old sayings, Si. The yellow-green Bovril is spectacular! Shame about the caterer's flask, it was a lovely bottle. Nice finds!😊💖
Thanks Cynthia - yes can't win 'em all
Wow love the tablespoons bottle, would love to buy it
Just came across your channel love it love from Ireland 🇨🇮
You guys need a sifter, im sure there are buttons and coins, suspenders and the like too! Nice bottles and the pipes are sweet. Can't stand anchovies but nice find!
We do have a sieve but the process takes too long
Great video guys, love all the luck in the muck !🌍🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌍
Thanks Susan!!
Great finds !! Have you thought about using a beach ⛱️ umbrella ☔ to keep the sun off of you when digging in the sun 😎 ?
Wow,!!! Love the old dump finds. Great video. I wish I could find a place like that.
There’s a few about. But they like to hide lol
I wanted this video to go on all morning SiFinds! I was digging with my cuppaJO (coffee) this morning. And I even have more respect for Bobby Dylan with his Si Finds sign! Right On Bobby! Thanks Kindly for this edge of seater adventure with all your great finds, you and your mate and that giant emerald! More Luck inna Muck and lots of Joy! Kind Thanks! DaveyJO in Pa.
Thanks DJ! Yeah Dylan knows his stuff lol. Thanks for watching! Peace back at ya! 👍🏻🐾🧡
9:13 nothing like a lovely piece of.......glass!!!
i think its fitting that the mud lovers cup doesnt sit straight and is a bit cracked. seems very fitting lol.
Haha, or course - made from upcycled bits and pieces!
Hi Si, I think the Jeyes Tooth soap item is the top of the jar and there would be some type of "pump" to get the soap out and onto the toothbrush. It's the only thing I can think of to have the words right-side up.....
Cool idea!
Love your videos. I always look forward to each one.
Thanks Margaret!
