I used a 2 way switch for a master kill switch in 2 of my guitars and 2 of my other ones have a 3 way with 2 volumes
great video. thanks. i have an ibanez rg7 with seymour duncan blackouts neck and bridge and a three way switch. what i want to do is replace the tone pot with a master killswitch but still be able to play using bridge, neck and bridge+neck when the killswitch is disengaged. any advice? again, thank you and great video.
Thanks!!! In that case, you just disconnect the tone pot and install the switch there. Make sure that the switch you are going to install is not too hard to move because it can be annoying to use it
hi! thanks for this video. i have a guitar with 2 humbuckers, 3-way selector switch, 1 tone and 1 volume. i'm planning to remove the neck pickup and add a coil-splitting and kill switch function and thinking of using the 3-way selector switch for both. i'm also planning to remove both the volume and tone pots and connect the pickup directly to the jack. can i use the up and middle positions for coil splitting and the down position as a kill switch? is this possible? thank you!
Hi, you're welcome. I don't think it's posible with just one switch. The problem is that on 3 way switches you can just connect two things and in your case you need 3, the humbucker, the coil split and the killed position. I would add another switch on one of the extra holes.
hi! I am going to build my own stratocaster guitar and it will contain a 10 way switch. If i want to install a kill switch, can i do it the same way as if the guitar had a 5 way switch?
Yes, but you will lose that position and the in between positions as well

ok, what I want to do is to substitute the volume on an H-S-S Ibanez for a shadow kill pot. I have a master tone and a master volume, How do I wire it?
I am not familiar with the shadow kill pot but for what I see you need to wire the center lug of the pot to the kill switch part and then to the output jack

Hola que tal disculpa la tardanza. Mira para este tipo de instalacion puedes usar cualquier cable pero te recomendaria usar grosor 20AWG o menos y preferiblemente que no sean de un solo alambre de cobre sino muchos alambres pequeños.
Hi it is a god explanation but how does the 3 way toggle switch les paul style kill switch works in the Tom Morello Strat? I saw a video of the electronics inside and there are a pair of cables as a bridge on two of the pines, and two long wires that go to one of tyhe pots and finally to the jack output, as it is shown of this video ua-cam.com/video/3xuIesEN5hA/v-deo.html
I'm almost sure that the Tom Morello strat has the kill switch after the volume pot. The original guitar has one toggle but the strat has the normal blade switch plus the toggle switch. If you saw a bridge cable on two of two of the pins in the blade switch maybe is used to asign one tone pot to two pickups.
@@alverduratonejunkiealveram1017 Thanks for your response, I will try it as you said in my strat (crossing fingers to be successful), yesterday's night I mod a squier tele I have setting a 3 way toggle Switch Les Paul Style on it as a kill switch after volume pot as you said like a momentary type, it works but different way, it pops a little when goes off (center position is off) I'd tried adding a resistor between output pins (56R upper value reducts volume to the half 1K2 and upper 20K mute sound at all) but still popping, I had set a momentary after volume on a Jackson previously, and it does not pop at all when engage, tried for 3 hours to figured out what is going on and testing distinct ground/hot settings and also grounding metal plate of the 3way selector to pots, plates, ground on jack but still popping the only that works a little was to keep the 56R in line bridging the output pins on the 3 way selector but still popping a little so I really don't know if it is related with the type of switch, quality or something else, will send you some pics of my mods, your video actually encourage me to start making mods on my guitars!
