Amen to that ,Chick's dig scars🙏, I'm no stranger to danger, when I'm not in action I'm in traction and the usa has the best doctor to stuntman ratio on this rock 🌎.🤟🤠
I rode that bike in Wareham Mass, what a awesome handling machine!!!! The power he's not kidding 2 gears is all you need, it will pull your arms out of the socket. I had a 250 WXC the guy that owned the 500 needed a rest. That is a monster!!!
A Bute and a Brute! Had a 390 with the 430 head kit and it was one of my favorites Ever!! I grew up on Elsinore/CR bikes had that 40year old thing so went out in 05 and bought a crf450r..whoo surprised me. After riding two strokes whole life with a cr500 as my last bike...just completely different! I was impressed and after I got the new worn off it and experienced speed wobbles at top speed downhill with a stiff wind at my back and on pavement I sold it. If it was 1985 I'd have to own that!!! Way too brittle now and you can't ride those anything but balls out! They are happiest at full charge!!!
The huskys of that era sure were different! I owned a 125 enduro version.Super tall, ridiculous soft suspension, weird long wheel base and heavy. Objectively all the 125MXers i raced against were better yet i still got lots of class wins in Hare scrambles. It's because the bike made it easy. You could run near max pace for hours on end
i was told by a mx veteran that has raced from the 80 to this day, that all frames in the 80s were total junk and felt wobbly and unstable though... maybe husky was just particularly bad lol@@MrKdr500
My dad had an 84. When I was about 13 I asked if I could ride it. He said if you can start it. I pushed it right off the patio down the driveway clicked up a few gears and bump started it. I thought I was bad ass when I came back in one piece.
I has a '85 six speed husky 500. Fastest bike I ever rode.... period. Was hard to keep front down even in hard corners. Sold it when left thumb was cut off with tablesaw. Still miss that ride
Nice Ken! I’m putting together the 85 XC500 version with the uptight pipe and Powerdynamo Vape ignition all rebuilt should have it ready to fire this weekend. Great video!
Cool story about 80's motocross glory, Ken. A childhood freind's older brother had one, he'd let you ride, if you could start it, I'm a left leg dominant bmx/MTB rider at the time, so I got it fired up, at 14/15, the fastest bike I had ridden was a 79 YZ 250. Thing was a beast.
My best friend owned 2 of them in the 80's. He raced them 3 times in the ISDE and loved the bike. In 89 he bought a 604 ATK which he won the 4stroke expert class in The Best of the Desert series in 89. Any Canadian riders out there from the 80's era would recognize his name. Jerry Nilsson. RIP
My friend had one of these and let me ride it. It's a gorgeous bike. I always thought that model husky looked big. A real mans bike. He also said 2 gears were all you needed. Nice one here.
That is gorgeous and brings me back to high school. One of the magazines used a husky like this for the cover. Ripping through California poppies. Magazine got in trouble.
The bike is awesome! I love the left side kick start! Old war injury on the right leg from desert storm, makes starting a cold 500 2 stroke next to impossible lol!
I think Ken was probably much like me as a young man, built with an upper body suitable to have been a ball player,a boxer any kinda athlete, you name it and he chose MX. I just admire the hell outta that!
Dude had a tech business, worked hard to be able to put 5k worth of love into any ol' machine to keep it tip-top. I'll bet he and his whole family have bittersweet memories of past employees, the works.
That bike goes up in the top 10 king of ping big bore category that you have had in the past few years It sounds almost as good as the super moto CR 500 y’all built a year or so ago
I'm high as a kite listening to that exhaust idle. I had to snap myself out of a trance like state....lol Pretty cool stuff. I miss my Honda CR 500's (1989 and 1991). I should have never sold them. But then again, all my good riding spots are now heavily patrolled and enforced by cameras. The 90's really were great years. Cops rarely had to enforce shit. But then people started trashing the Jersey Pine Barron's and then that was the end of it. Cameras and GPS sealed the deal.
Another amazing piece! When 2 strokes were built right! Where have you been Ken?!? Missed u! Interesting to see this today, as a we are doing a memorial for my good friend Mac, who passed away a month ago, today. He is mozdef in the cosmic ether.
BIG DADDY is back in town.... incredible x 1000... I would be proud to have the cops chase me though town in an helpless attempt to identify this monster.
WOW JUST THINKING OF WHEN I VISITED MSR HIS SON A RACER WAS IN GLASS OFFICE. A FREIND OF THEIRS HAD HIS COLLECTOON ON UPPER FLOOR WITH SMITHSSHOWED MEANS STORIES. I MET MALCOME AT DEALER IN SPOKANE WASHINGTON. THEY DIDN'T HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MOTORCYCLE OR COULD FIND ONE FOR ME BUT I BOUGHT MSR PICTURE D HELMET OF HIM. 🤩Looking really good that Swedish oldschool Mx masterpiece there,I enjoyed a lot to have had the oportunity to be able to get to know another old timer this time from the welknown Nordic brand Husqvarna👍🏻🇵🇹🙋🏻♂️...
My mate looped out my CR500 (Honda) today. He’s ok. Bent and broke the sub frame. Can’t find a new one online in Australia. Any suggestions Ken? There seem to be a few over there. Edit: turns out my friend fractured his back in three places.
What year? I would contact one of the aluminum frame Cr500 builders and see if they have one sitting in the pile. =They swap old frame for an new Cr250 or Cr450 one. A good welder should be able to repair your steel.
@@jonmccormick8683 it’s a 97 model. I just took it off and it’s actually a bit rusted so don’t think I’ll have it repaired. Do the 250 ones bolt straight on?
I would gladly allow this masterpiece to put me in the hospital 😂
🤔

I think we can all agree this is a better masterpiece than any electric bike will ever be lol
Born the same year as me. I wish i was still looking as good as that 😁
im 53....i ride in the wenatchee natiinal forest, in the early 80's, thats the bike that dominated the trails up here.....🌲🌲🌲
Next to the 1983 RM500 this has to be the 2nd best most gorgeous motorcross bike ever built
I had a 83 Rm 500 and a XC 500 , Gorgeous bikes . One went to Australia others in Upstate NY.
Nuh...nothing it's more bad ass beautiful 500 then the BETA CR500❤
Yamaha wr 500 best looking bike
I agree that but rm370 and older rm400 was most beatiful bikes ever made
These late 80's huskies are some of the best looking bikes from any year in my opinion. Redoing an 87' WR250 right now!

Words can't describe a bike like this.
Freaking unbelievable the husky dirt bike 2 stroke 💪
The huskys of that era sure were different!

Nothing like that metallic " ting " of a finely tuned two stroke.
I LOVE your channel! Your passion for these classics, bikes is awesome! Both in preservation, and restoration!
Holy shit Ken you are gonna have to agree that this bike is in the top 5 King of ping category.
She is beating on some steel
This bike sounds amazing
What an absolute masterpiece!!!! I love it
Damn. Has to get around $10-15 grand at least.
One of my favourite classic 2 strokes. Absolutely stunning example
😈😈😈 i love those old school 2 strokes . They last the distance 😈😈😈
I had the 85 CR 250 , it looked exactly like the 500 and it was also very fast and had the excellent Ohlin's suspension
The frame design is so neat.
That is one gorgeous big bore motocrosser. Love it's colors, and the graphics on the tank.
Husq Varna means house by river in Swede . Their logo is a gun sight.
I had may air cooled twin shock ones .
Miss those Swedish made Husqvarna s.
Nice bike , same or similar graphic design as the '23 Husqvarna heritage editions, NICE❤
Loved my 390 ,simple bike .
As soon as I see a video of a Big Bore 5 Hundo, I run over and turn on the surround sound 👍🏼
Love these husky’s have 2 85 500’s ones the prototype that was supposed to be destroyed one bad motor
Amazing, way ahead of the competition at the time. Looks like a modern 1995 bike.
definitely not ahead, actually about 2 years behind & the frames were junk.
@@MrKdr500 what is wrong with the frames

If I can only find a nice one like this to buy!
Nothing beats the sound of a 500cc 2 stroke .
It's mind blowing how you find all of these classic, minty bikes
So deadly, Those vintage husqvarna are just straight fire 🔥!
My dad had an 84. When I was about 13 I asked if I could ride it. He said if you can start it. I pushed it right off the patio down the driveway clicked up a few gears and bump started it. I thought I was bad ass when I came back in one piece.
I remember how cool looking this was. And you could tell if it was a husky coming. Some nice and raw sounds came from them. Monsters! 👍
I has a '85 six speed husky 500. Fastest bike I ever rode.... period. Was hard to keep front down even in hard corners. Sold it when left thumb was cut off with tablesaw. Still miss that ride
Grew up/cow trailed with #9 (OKC/NWCHS), RIP Gary ..

The 500xc runs and it’s AWESOME!

That’s a piece of art
I’d love to have this bike for next time my friend mouths of about his 98 Honda CR500❤❤❤
Husky made some beautiful bikes and this is one of them, I used to drool over the brochure of the 510 four stroke.
RIP

@P Henri F those flowers.
I got the 1987 400 wr , it's a beast !
I always loved the distinctive sound of the Huskys.
Love when you take these bikes out..this Husky flys !!
The bike is awesome! I love the left side kick start! Old war injury on the right leg from desert storm, makes starting a cold 500 2 stroke next to impossible lol!
I can feel the spokes vibrating the spokes lose from California. I wanted one in the worst way when I was young enough to hang on... Cool bike!
Interesting Frame Design! I like the Big Tube Backbone like an "Egli" Tubular Spine Frame design!! 🤍👍
Jordan is doing an awesome job on the camera work!
I just love the European big bore two stroke Dirtbikes.
I had one of these as a kid ,I would get the hole shot every race but never finished a race . Bitch to start once warm ,thanks for sharing dude

Love an old school husky
THE BIKE IS LITERALLY THE HOLY GRAIL,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Sweet looking bike, Sounds Amaaaazing!
Holy mackerel.. what a beauty!
I've got the same year XC model! I think it's geared a little different, and not as rare, but still a POWER HOUSE

the blocky cylinders of the old water cooled husky's are so cool.
Why’s there an xc style frame?
How did it compare to the KX500?
My Dad has the 400 one. They are so bad ass.
Not a word over Cagiva ❤
Sooo fast! I had an 84 CR500 with a factory 6 speed (from the desert racer model) and that bike was blazing fast. So sooo fast.
Had to be xc or wr, only ones with 6
@@rogerdodrill4733 Nope it was a CR and was modified when new with a 6 speed.
Wow a brand new 1985 Husky......
The mention of frame rails being mint makes me look at my 95 honda cr250 and cringe a bit. This bike is absolutely beautiful.
That is badass, would love to have it..
Now that is a very cool bike 👍
That is a monster of a bike! The sticker on the bike is 500 CR, but the title of the video states 500 XC.
My dad races that bike in the 80s
What a beast!
How do you get these masterpieces? What a machine! These have class!
We build them
So much for the fresh mortar repair on my foundation...
The almighty Huskies
Just wow !!
I have this bike! Its a rocket ship. I've been on a lot of bikes and its the one!
Which bend Renthals are those? Looks like a nice one for my KDX200!
