Honestly my favorite thing about Frozen II is the special feature they show where the writers/creators are literally like "we had no idea what to do with the movie, they pushed us to keep to a schedule, it was a really toxic environment, and this is what we came up with... we're sorry, but we're glad it's over" and Disney tried to spin it like it was a challenge but somehow not corporate's fault? He's talking about important characters that the audience gets to build a bond with. The parents don't count because we already knew they were dead from the beginning. The king doesn't count because we don't have a bond with him as the audience. He's just the Evil Guy who enacts an evil plan.

Also, in Celtic legend, kelpies are water horses! Sometimes half horse, half fish. But i honestly wonder what happened in history that made many cultures associate water and horses together?
Especially considering that the horse immediately tries to drown Elsa😅 very kelpie
@Chiagoziem chelsea Nwoko eh, disney has crossed a lot of mythology wires here, it's not like it's an honest recreation of the snow queen, by any stretch of the imagination. they probably just borrowed from different cultures of mythology.

As much as I loved ranting about Kristoff, he’s a great character and pretty much a perfect guy.
He’s cute, he puts Anna’s needs first when she needs that (I’m here, what do you need?), he gives her space in their relationship (my love is not fragile), is just overall sweet, dependable, loyal, and... yeah. Perfect.
Anna couldn’t have done better, he’s the best.
Yeah, he's kind of a doormat though?
99% of people would dip after being left in the middle of nowhere. But Disney loves to rant about a lifelong enamour that doesn't exist.
I agree that Kristoff is great, but Anna is not. She treats him terribly. They had a lot of issues with their relationship, but just brush past that by "fixing" it with a proposal. Kristoff shouldn't put up with her. She's insecure and picks other people over him every time.
I agree!
@@monetchandler1654 this is so true
I'll give you the perfect guy maybe, but in this movie he sure as heck isn't a good character, he does basically nothing and isn't in most of the movie, they ruined him, he was interesting in the first and then in the second they didn't know what to do with him and became guy who's trying to propose and that's it

I remember thinking in the theater that the reveal about Elsa didn't make any freaking sense and feeling so disappointed that there was actually no one at the end of the voice that it was just basically a memory of her mom. It felt so anticlimactic.
And then I saw an interview of one of the writers basically saying that they had written basically the whole movie and then came to a complete standstill realizing that they hadn't figured out who was behind the voice and I'm like 🤦 yep, that checks out.
Good writing takes time. If you try to rush it, it'll be just a convoluted mess.
For one of the screenplays I wrote for a movie I want to make, it took some time, a bit of rewriting and rearranging, and taking out unnecessary lines to make it work. Now I'm pretty happy with the result.
Too bad the writers of this film didn't follow suit!
@@artbytesia I think they didn't have enough time and were rushed which is a shame
@@xylypotatohead3947 Yeah, it is. Companies need to realize that rushing is not a good idea.
Yeah it’s probably a good thing frozen 3 is in production rn for the next few years. It’ll give them a lot more time and space to figure out her powers and a legit good story plot for Anna, something more interesting for kristoff than just “guy who fckin wants to propose but something happens and it gets delayed” cliche like no stop it. And maybe, just maybe uhm just a suggestion: KILL OLAF.
I like that Olaf was having an existential crisis throughout the whole thing at like, three years old.
Kids ask some damn good psychological/deep questions when they're young, honestly! I've taught kids anywhere from 6 weeks old to 12 years old, and as soon as they start to talk, they sometimes ask the most interesting questions. Olaf has book facts, just the naivete of a child :)
I wish most of his jokes were the existential crisis stuff instead of the cringey recaps and utter random dialogue. He could've actually been funny instead of dragging down the plot.
I mean... technically it was a midlife crisis

Anna is so freaking psychotic/insecure/neurotic/anxious every time she speaks with Kristoff that when I watched the movie every time they spoke I rolled my eyes back so hard my head almost did a 360 spin
Well I think that makes sense for her (to some extent). She was always pushed away as a kid and dreamed for someone to love her and someone to care about her. She finally gets that and now she doesn't want to lose it again. It makes a little bit of sense that she'd worry about those she loves the most leaving her again. HOWEVER, it only makes sense for her relationship with her sister and Olaf. Her being so over the top paranoid over Kristoff was STUPID af because it was clear that they wanted to make her insecurity in their relationship a running gag. She hates change and wants to keep her loved ones close forever, which makes sense for all the loneliness she had during childhood. But her insecurity toward Kristoff was NOT IT because it made things a lot less romantic like it should have been

Frozen 2 is a forgettable and anti climatic toy commercial/ tech demo.
The characters don’t interact much, plot points keep getting introduced and immediately forgotten after with no resolution. The plot is non existent and vague. And everyone’s character is butchered. Elsa is even more distant and cold to her sister, Anna is now a clingy whiner, and Kristoff had so little purpose they gave him a 1930’s comedy sketch routine as a character.
The ending comes out of nowhere and feels undeserved.

The problem with that is that if the audience doesn't connect with the emotion, it's just boring.
Unlike theater, these movies have visual effects that are supposed to enhance songs, and in Frozen they usually overshadow them.
True. Like the songs in this movie were great even better than the first one (except the kristoff one it was ok). 1) why Elsas parents had literally no idea how to cope with her powers but then in the second movie we find out her mom had powers and knew how they worked... Couldn’t she just teach Elsa that she needs to accept and not fear her powers?!
2) why the heck did they have to go to some trolls to get answers if the queen lived with a nation which used powers on a daily basis?!
and 3) why didn’t the parents solve the conflict between the two nations? They could’ve tried to find out what really happened. I mean the queen probably missed her family and culture and she never would’ve just , you know, watched her friends and family live in misery
Sorry if I have a couple of mistakes in my text:) English isn’t my mother tongue 😅
They needed a sequel, so none of this was explained in the second movie.
her mom didn't have powers she used the air spirit (gale) but because she saved their dad who is the son of the man who tried to get rid of them, the spirits cursed her first born with the curse of ice I would guess
and mostly her parents didn't really know how to help with her powers because her mom knew only the idea on how to have help from something with powers not how to teach someone to use them(also because she was so young she probably forgot what the spirits help felt like) which is why they went to find out why she had them (that was why they went on the boat) and they were going to the place that was calling Elsa, but the water was so rough they crashed (this proved when it was Elsa fighting with the water spirit the water around her was crazy big waves her almost drowning etc. until she got control of the water spirit and started riding across the smooth open ocean.) and for 3 I don't know if they knew they were still stuck I guess because it showed them leaving so people got out so they probably just thought the rest had died in the war. This is just my view on the movie, I love re watching movies to see if I can understand the full meaning behind everything and this is what I got from what you were asking :) sorry for typing so much just wanted to try to help!

"why is the water spirit a horse though"
in greek mythology, horses are thought to be born from the sea.
A Nokk is a horse water spirit in Germanic Mythology. There are various folklore with this mythical creature under different names, like the kelpie in Scottish folklore.
Edit: I looked it up, and it's "nøkken" in norwegian, so it would make more sense that is based off Norwegian folklore.
In Greek mythology it’s because Poseidon created them.

Wasn't hard to do. I predicted the entire plot before the movie started. That's how garbage disney's writing is. They are consistently unoriginal. This movie was nothing but a cash grab riding off the backs of childhood nostalgia...as most disney movies are.
I knew the plot before the movie even came out, like some people said that it was about Elsa’s ice powers
Obviously this is not a great movie but the plot is a little more than a synopsis
It's a start... But I feel like Elsa should of been the main focus in this movie leaving out Anna, Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff and focusing on the new journey and people she meet in the forest. Plus add in a real threat to the situation.

When I heard him roasting some of them I was like, "You've never heard of tundra have you, Dylan?"
@Joshua Singh I was thinking about the scene where the reindeer are running around at the end, or any scene that showed the vast fields
This movie would have greatly benefitted from an additional 20-30 minutes of run time to actually flesh out the plot correctly.
i love how dylan complains about how thing kristoff's lips are and how "he can't be a pleasure to kiss" and I'm like "so does that mean you're not a good kisser as well?"
Guess we need to ask misoa.
I joke of course.

@@mc_lara2230 oh the photo of the cat HAHAHAHA
I think what annoyed me most about this movie was the kinda lazy plot. Personally, I like sequels that build on the relationships and setting and lore of its original, but this just.. Didn't. Instead they made up this whole new world that's apparently super important with all these new magic concepts and blah blah blah.
Just was not a fan. Then splitting up loads of the characters, so they barely ever interact?
I think what happened was they had like 5+ different scrapped plot ideas and they left some scenes in causing kind of a mesh of all of their ideas. The same thing happened in the first one.
I thought she got her powers from the trolls
@@chynagray1287 no she was born with the powers. The trolls just helped when Ana was struck by ice both when Elsa hit her head and her heart. The trolls know about Elsa's magic and the devastation they could cause but did not give them to her
Yeah lol I didn't even feel sad when olaf died... too predictable
What of been better if Jack Frost just turns up
Dylan makes fun of kristoff’s small lips but doesn’t realize his are the same size
Oof, like major OOF
no
Yeah but don't let this distract you from the the fact that in 1966, Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, Bubba "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Anna was the true hero of both movies and Elsa was the unspoken antagonist. She made everything harder for them to survive or succeed in their mission. The only thing i dislike about Anna was how they wrote her paranoia toward kristoff - it was unnecessary and only used as a joke. Other than that, she was noble and brave, just and undeniably loyal.
Dylan: There’s gonna be snow in this one too?
Me: What exactly did you expect from a movie named Frozen?
I mean, that was the joke lol.

Love him so much, I was so excited when I realized he got a song
Honestly, Jonathan is the only reason I wanted Kristoff to be in the movie.
ElementalPaws Me too!
Jess Salazar Tbh the story is a bit iffy but the Frozen casting director really popped off with Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff AND Santino Fontana
The deleted scenes wouldve made the movie way better! They took out an alternate ending where the kingdom was destroyed, anna and kristoff had a duet, and even had more background/back story on their parents. They missed a lot of opportunities for this film to be amazing
I agree. There's so much that we miss out on. But the blame lies on Disney as a corporation. They didn't want a Disney Princess movie that was longer than two hours so the writers and creators had to keep hacking away at it to make it much shorter, which is why there seems to be so many holes in the story that we're missing.
Disney's reputation isn't the greatest these days, so this was a chance for them to really put some heart and effort into one of their properties (esp one that's not looked at as favourably as others) that's known as a cash-grab franchise, and they instead played it super safe. It doesn't feel like a final cut. With the teasers and knowing the original fans are now older and can handle more mature concepts, I'm surprised with how cookie-cutter they went. I didn't know they deleted so many scenes -- I wonder if it would've saved the film, or at least made it more substantial.
@@washedblue And the saddest part is you can see that they were trying to address more mature themes.
The dichotomy between pushing others away/separating to try and find your path and trying to hold on to others so much that your whole world starts to crumble if someone seems to pull away. Dylan complains that Anna seems so insecure and Elsa is an asshole, but Anna had spent so much time in isolation when she finally had the family she wanted she clung to them pretty hard almost to the point of dependency. Her seemingly out of character reactions to Kristoff are a result of her current state of mind. She has noticed that Elsa seems to be pulling away and her whole mind is on trying to make her stay. And so she may not beentirely focused on everything Kristoff is actually saying she instead picks up on things that play into her worries and that sets her off even more. Yes it's relatively out of character for Anna but get whole world is being shaken up again and her usual optimism doesn't seem to be working. On the other side Elsa is just as stubborn as her sister. And even though she managed acceptance in the first movie she was left with a whole boatload of questions. And with the same drive that pushed Anna to climb a giant mountain to find her sister Elsa is chasing the one thread that might lead to answers to the point of not exactly caring for her own well being.
On top of that we get Kristoff exploring his feelings when it feels like he's being ignored and abandoned by the one he loves, dealing with those feelings, and then coming to the understanding that he's allowed to feel that way and then he goes on to help his love however she needs instead of trying to take over her problems and save the day himself.
We see someone dealing with grief, the death of a loved one, and the process of how to carry onwards (just one step at a time).
We see the reconciliation of the sisters in the end and the understanding that sometimes our loved ones paths will diverge from ours one day and that's okay. You have to be understanding and with work that connection can still remain.
No, there wasn't an obvious villain in the movie but real life doesn't work that way. Life is a series of small and large problems and inner struggles and interpersonal struggles and trying to work your way through them. Mistakes will be made and you'll come off as mean or stubborn or clingy or whatever. People are not just one personality trait you are allowed to feel insecure sometimes even when your everyday may present with enduring optimism.
Even with all its flaws Frozen 2 was a glimpse into the possibilities of explorin more mature ideas and storylines for the people that are growing up with Disney. Yes, this was kind of for kids but it was more for the people who saw the first Frozen when it came out and are now 6 years older.
I could also go into the inherent queerness in Elsa's journey of discovery and self-acceptabce but I've already said a whole lot. Sorry for the long post y'all
@@bellamyhawkins6540 fucking YES
Bellamy Hawkins this is amazing! thank you ✨
Anna: *has a realistic immediate grief response for a co-dependent person*
Dylan: "Get the fuck up, this is boring."
Elsa: *Stops the water from destroying Arendelle*
Dylan: But the water levels are gonna rise.
My exact same thought when i first watched the movie.
Same 😭
Same, when the whole ice wall came and pushed the water back, I expected gravity to do its work and have the water flow back forward once the ice was gone, making the water level rise somewhat
Yes exactly I was shaking my head at how everything ended so happy I mean not saying I want a tragedy but like the story would feel better if it had a bittersweet ending....
like the whole movie in the perspective of anyone except the main 5? Would be very confusing like the townspeople they have Queen Elsa then lose there homes because of some earthquake then there Queen just up and left with her sister into a forest which is deemed dangerous and maybe of no return WITHOUT A GAURD with them!!????? Then gets a new Queen because their old Queen is now an avatar????? Like wut I would be IMMENSELY confused if Queen Elizabeth did this.....
I think the ending should have Elsa stay “the avatar” but let her body be frozen but her entity isn’t... and drown that town or at least raise the DAMN water level to up to their toes so that we can ACTUALLY SEE ELSA BE THE SPIRIT AND ANNA ACT LIKE A PROPER ROYAL/ Queen and Kristoff actually be a supportive and caring fiancé? Husband? To the future queen ...
Like truth be told I was really hoping frozen 2 too end like this cause then the first movie wouldn’t feel like a movie WE NEED to see before this one they made it WAY to much about the story of the last film instead of making this one better they should have kept that plot twist aspect better I wouldn’t mind the rest of the film if they just fixed the ending cause then the movie would make a more fulfilling thing to watch rather than the “sequel” for a big budget film on animations they should have fixed/ focused on the story/ plot I don’t mind the quality of animation of frozen 1 if they kept the story consistent...
i liked this movie for 2 reasons,
1) the depiction of a characters mental state like: Elsa is actually a shy person to be expected as the child stuck in her room as well as Anna’s anxiety of being alone again
2) set design
Nothing about plot or the twist or olaf
Olaf was way too stuck in the first movie and that was just annoying to me I came to watch frozen 2 not some character explain frozen 1 personally I liked the short way more than this it depicts their character well there was a proper story structure animation was great for a short all the side characters were great the plot stayed consistent and the ending felt deserved.

“Kristoff from Frozen is the perfect example of a good boyfriend. He was falling for Anna but knew she was engaged in the first Frozen so he took her back to Hans without question, when Anna just leaves him behind in Frozen 2 he misses her and is hurt she left him but understood that it was something she needed to do and needed to be there for her sister, in the end of the movie when Anna brought the Earth giants he runs into the woods and picks her up and simply asks “I’m here, what do you need?”, knowing that SHE is the one doing this and it’s HER situation right now. He is very secure with his masculinity and isn’t afraid to admit when he is hurt and when he misses Anna/wants Anna. Kristoff is an absolute KING and more men should be like Kristoff. I think the main issue with this movie was that there wasn't any main antagonising force, so everything just felt very simple to solve.
Arendelle should at least have been destroyed
@@sugaryheaven4089 Yeah, at least have one impactful thing happen because if you remove the scenes of their adventure, basically nothing happened except after when the queen changed. I mean, at least in the first movie when Elsa left, Arendelle was in crisis. Here, those people were just waiting.
