The problem is he's a product of Elsa, without her he can't live to begin with. So I don't think he actually has a heart and stuff. His love is basically artificial, though true to him.
Also if true love is an act that puts one's needs before your own, isn't just the action of Kristoff bringing Anna back so she can be safe and happy despite how he feels about her an act of true love? Like this true love description is pretty vague.
For a while, I was pretty into the fan theory that the trolls somehow used their magic to steal/freeze Hans' true love for Anna in order to get her together with Kristoff. Still kinda am really. lol
I never really caught on with this movie but in all fairness, it isn't a "bad" movie. The only big issue with Frozen is that you can tell what scenes were rewritten due to the huge positive reception of Let It Go and the early parts of the movie were never rewritten. It's pretty common knowledge at this point that Elsa was supposed to be the villain of the movie. This is why Hans is such an inconsistent character. For example the scene where Hans is arresting and trying to reason with Elsa, and the scene where he leaves Anna to freeze to death is a complete 180 of Hans' character that I don't think Hans was putting up a facade. I think the betraying Anna scene was the result of a rewrite and they never changed Hans in previous scenes. I kinda wished they went with the original story where the years of isolation and fear of her powers broke Elsa psychologically and she uses her newfound freedom to become the monster her parents feared that she'd become. This would create a self fulfilling prophecy where as a result of that fear, they locked her away which turned her into what they feared. To me, this would ask an interesting question of "does someone who has done terrible things because of the fact that they've never known love deserve love in the end?" Then again, it is a Disney film so they might never have intended to go that deep.
i know elsa was supposed to be the villain but i still think they did a good job rewriting the scenes to make hans the villain. you point out the scene where he tries to arrest and reason with elsa as inconsistent but in that scene he literally points the other guy’s crossbow at the giant ice chandelier above elsa’s head that would’ve killed her if she didn’t notice it and run in time. also, just because he’s not acting as evil as he does in ending scenes doesn’t mean it’s a complete 180 from who he is. his whole tactic was never to kill anyone but simply marry into the family so he could rule as king, maybe he planned on killing anna and elsa after he married anna idk. point is, killing and acting like a serious villain isn’t a part of his plan. this is also what makes the reveal so great. i literally remember watching this movie in the theater and everyone was shocked by his reveal. also idk what you mean by “scenes were rewritten due to the huge positive reception of Let it Go” the song literally came out after the movie was made so how would they go back and rewrite it because of let it gos popularity??

@@crystalmethany3245 Most people watching don't expect him to be the villain. he hasn't done anything to really make us think that he is a bad guy. so when he gives Elsa a pep talk and then saves her we think he's still a good guy. because if he was really a bad guy he would have let her get killed and then Anna would die and he'd be king like he wanted because Anna in trusted her kingdom to him. however I will forever agree with MatPats' theory that the trolls mind controlled Hons so that Anna would be with Christoph.

*cause they both show the fact they know and care for eachother. also, the shut him out of the whole kingdom, not a group hug with the literal king and queen*
You’re right. The trolls literally said fear is the enemy. Speaking from personal experience fear is an extremely powerful emotion. It’s no wonder her fear of herself and her powers made it difficult for her to be in control.
My theory for why Elsa couldn't control her powers was that since Elsa had pretty much stopped using her powers after the incident with Anna as her powers were growing all the energy from her powers was just building up and was just releasing on its own since Elsa wasn't using her powers and releasing that energy herself. But once she actually started using her powers after she fled the kingdom the energy stopped releasing on its own and she was able to control her powers.
Elsa’s fear came from her parents. Her parents projected their own personal fears onto Elsa, which caused her emotional and mental state to be damaged, which made her lose control of her powers which is why she always wore gloves after she hurt Anna. Remember the saying they repeated I think it was “conceal it, don’t feel it, don’t let it show”. So after being open about her powers they then taught her to hide who she was which obviously didn’t help. The only reason why this is never really addressed when it comes to the movie is because the parents died.
@@CaleyWarrior101 yeah but then how was she able to pin that dude up against the wall with such precision? She had to have been afraid for her life when all those dudes busted in trying to kill her, thus her fear should have weakened her control of her abilities.
@@kotomi4921 it was a little bit after they initially came in though. her powers seem to go off instantly when she’s anxious; maybe that was enough time for her shock to decrease a bit.
The thing is Elsa has a social anxiety and inferiority complex. She can be the best and the most powerful but her social anxiety hinders her on dealing with other people. Imagine being kept inside a room with no to minimal interaction with outside world and being bombarded and pressured by her parents for so long. Definitely she will be socially awkward. Honestly I would blame her parents for making Elsa like that. There are people in the real world like Elsa.
Agree, but it also extends onto elsa being neglected and jumping at any chance to be loved, which Elsa criticizes her for doing even though she played a role in that neglect. Anna is also a real person and I would have liked to see more of the sister dynamic played out
Kikiricki Kira I mean if you're paying attention the troll asks 'born or cursed?' and the dad replies born. She just has always had it, like a lot of protagonists with weird abilities.
i'm glad you brought up the look Hanz gave that implied he actually had feelings for her because if he really was plotting, that wouldn't have made sense. i always hate when shows and movies do this then have that character betray/be evil/etc
I always hated how the troll says something like fear is her enemy. And the father just: let's lock her up and hide her from everyone parent of the year
Exactly. And the troll leader shows young Elsa a spooky vision of what her powers could do once out of control because fear is *so* good for her and this will definitely not cause her to become even more afraid of herself.
@@Nina-kx9jm Disney deleted the prophecy part where it says everything and WHY the parents hid Elsa and teaches her to control her fear, The story goes that the kingdom is cursed with a snow king\queen that will freeze the kingdom forever killing everyone in it, the only thing that could kill the snow king\queen is a sword "which we see it with Hans at the end somehow he found it" which apparently the father hid it so no one can use it and kill Elsa, so the father in order to protect his family he teaches Elsa to control her fear so he brought for her gloves . Now you might say what about Anna ? in the old script she was a super clumsy breezy character so they couldn't tell her as they were afraid that she might expose Elsa, which she accidentally did at the coronation day. so my point is the PARENTS we good DISNEY'S is the bad for deleting that.

um the fact that dylan str8 up bought tangled no questions asked and immediately chose to rent frozen instead of buying it.... we stan a smart financial man
I used to think the same about Elsa, but when you start seeing her actions as her having depression, it all just makes so much sense and you start to see her in a completely different light.
I think Dylan misdirect what feelings and emotions meant for the plot; every time elsa’s power wasn’t “perfect” was when she tried to control herself or push back her emotions. It’s quite beautifuly and detailed portrayed through the film. Every scene that her ice is perfect and smooth and well…. Powerful, it’s when she let her feelings flow and be felt. So basically, when Anna did the act of true love; she finally understood what she’d needed since the beginning and was taken away from: LOVE I guess that’s the reason it was such a great movie for kids.
"this movie needs a flynn rider" couldn't be more agree. i love how this whole commentary is dylan comparing frozen to tangled and saying that tangled is better, which is true.
Or maybe they just don’t like the genre like some people don’t like horror or comedy. Or the storylines don’t entertain them. Take that to account. Besides anime is pretty popular so calm down.
In the olden days before refrigeration, they would mine ice. Then they would dig a cellar in the ground and pack the ice in sawdust. That way they would have ice during the summer time. Thank you for listening to my TED talk.
There's actually a fan theory I think, that Anna has powers too, hers is super strength I mean the woman fought off a pack of wolves and flung a whole stone statue clean across the room, and I think she punched Hans (who is taller and heavier than her) smack off the boat at the end and it didn't seem to hurt her at all lmao

The real question is who ruled this kingdom when their parents where gone and Elsa was still too young to become a queen. EDIT: Alright guys, I know about historic events like when king died and his oldest child was still too young to rule by himself etc., so somebody took over till it was possible for the next king to rule alone. What I meant, was that in this particular movie they didn't show us what happened. Elsa was locked in a chamber, scared of her powers, and Anna was just a little child. I wonder, who took care of them? I mean they were just lonely, terrified children, and Disney didn't explain to us who took care of them and what happened to the kingdom. Thank you for your atention, and for all your responses. PS I'm still astonished how many likes I got, thank you! PSS Have a nice day

Dylan: *talking about how Else made a flawless castle and how they are fighting in it.* Me: How the hell are they all walking up those stairs of ice and on all the ice and not once have they slipped?!
What I wish the movie would have done was that as Elsa hugged Anna and cried, everything around her started melting and coming back to normal, Anna being among those things. Then Elsa freaks out and realizes she ended the eternal winter and brought her sister back. That's how she realized love is the answer. Would have been much better than how they actually executed it.
“Why are the boats there? Why aren’t they docked?” They are there for the inauguration and they aren’t docked because they are anchored.... just saying
So, I like the theory that the trolls are the real villains. They’re clearly capable of magic and mental manipulation (two different alliterations, you’re welcome), and Hans was a pretty nice guy up until the trolls found out that Anna was engaged to someone other than Kristoff. There’s more to the theory, but basically the trolls hijacked Hans to clear the way for Kristoff
Yep! NGL in mythology trolls were creatures that were nothing but trouble, kinda like pixies and leprechauns. It doesn’t even explain how the elder troll knew what to do, let alone he literally told Elsa what her weakness was, and doesn’t even object when her stupid dad clearly wasn’t listening and decided to do the one thing not to do that’d undoubtedly make it worse. Also Kristoff and Anna to me were catty up until they get to the trolls, and they wanted KRISTOFF to marry the princess because they know he has a poor man’s job (ice harvesting wasn’t a good job)
He could literally leave the lamp in its original yellow colour while Tangled because the entire movie is literally about freaking lanterns but nooohhoho just saying

I think Elsa’s “I can’t control my powers” was more of a “my emotions directly translate to my powers thus making me dangerous”
She had to have been afraid for her life when all those dudes busted in trying to kill her, thus her fear should have weakened her control of her abilities.

joe jonas YES!!
It’s not very obvious unless you’re really looking
Anna is also a real person and I would have liked to see more of the sister dynamic played out
Yeah. This is not hard to understand, and entirely blaming Elsa for feeling like that is something stupid.

I always hated how the troll says something like fear is her enemy.
And the father just: let's lock her up and hide her from everyone
parent of the year
Exactly. And the troll leader shows young Elsa a spooky vision of what her powers could do once out of control because fear is *so* good for her and this will definitely not cause her to become even more afraid of herself.
But he just wanted her to control her powers more
@@alyssawang3998 Yeah probably, but there are certainly better ways to achieve that.
@@Nina-kx9jm Disney deleted the prophecy part where it says everything and WHY the parents hid Elsa and teaches her to control her fear,
The story goes that the kingdom is cursed with a snow king\queen that will freeze the kingdom forever killing everyone in it, the only thing that could kill the snow king\queen is a sword "which we see it with Hans at the end somehow he found it" which apparently the father hid it so no one can use it and kill Elsa, so the father in order to protect his family he teaches Elsa to control her fear so he brought for her gloves .
Now you might say what about Anna ? in the old script she was a super clumsy breezy character so they couldn't tell her as they were afraid that she might expose Elsa, which she accidentally did at the coronation day.
