    Rule #1: Always drain your lizard before you launch your boat.

    Great footage. I use lizzards all year long, especially around lay downs with 1/16 slip sinkers. I love em! Keep catching em on tight lines. I truly enjoy your videos!

    9:58 I do this in the summer based on one of your older lizard videos. All black 8" lizard weightless in the summer is an absolute killer. I swim it extremely slow and let it fall to the bottom from time to time. They tend to crush it once it stops swimming, like they are following it. You can't swim it too fast or it will come to the surface.

      It’d be awesome here on a c-rig for sure. I don’t think we ever had any quite that big but we used to throw 10” ones a ton. If we could have found bigger ones back then we would have. The bigger ones don’t sink the same, they kinda glide down and wobble. They draw big bites too.

    That pretty much sums everything up about lizards except that sometimes 6 inch lizards are better than either one of those and definitely not pegged also the softer Berkeley lizards definitely catchum yum yum

    I don't know why but I do really good on grape colored lizard in stained water and blue colored lizard in clear water. I use 1/4 oz sinker both times and 14lb test line. Been good for me for years.

    Tried out some lizards today around the lily pads. Bite was tough. Had a couple good hits but they weren’t really holding on. They were however hitting a super fluke fished real slow on hydrilla edges, inhaling them pretty good. Water temp is dropping erratically depending how cold it was at night. It affects the bite here in FL. This season I’ll be fishing more lizards since people are not using them as much as other plastics.

    Yum black neon chartreuse tail is my favorite but yum no longer makes it. But zoom 5 inch black neon with spike it tail
    Just as good. Also don’t discount the 4 inch it catches big fish no clue why but last year I caught 5 bass over 5 pounds in 20 minutes pitched to same cedar tree in a ditch off creek channel. No I don’t have livescope

    Rumor has it that lizards eat eggs and ling, but the lizard works during this time very well

    • @timmarkowicz779
      @timmarkowicz779 11 місяців тому +9

      Realistically, lizards, being terrestrial reptiles, do not swim under water to attack fish's beds to eat eggs. The only creatures that resemble a lizard that are known to eat fish eggs are salamanders, which are amphibians. Their predation on bass beds are miniscule compared to fish like bluegills or gobies, which are common predators of eggs and fry. To me, a lizard is just a plastic worm with legs. Keep in mind that fishing lures are designed foremost to catch fishermen.

      I think theres something to the amphibian theory. It might be a "genetic response"

    i had a peacock bass destroy a new 5 inch lizard today fishing canals by my home, he kept punching below the hook and basically had it hanging by a piece of plastic before catching the hook and got the drag going and set the hook. im guessing i threw over a nest or this guy was super frustrated. great action on the lizards got mines in that green.

    Lizards are my number 1 bait for springtime Bass. I also use them for Smallmouth. I have caught 2 6lb Smallmouth on Green Pumpkin lizards!! my picture is 1 of them. they are an amazing lure choice that bass simply don't ignore. Use randy's tips and Hang On!

    When I was a kid I was on a boat dock and there were some bass right under my feet. I was just about to start working them with a red flake pumpkin lizard when a couple guys walked past and told me not to waste my time, those bass don't bite anything, they tried. About 3 casts later I lifted a bass out and they gave me such a stinkeye.

    Thx for the lizard video Randy. I'm curious why you like the straight shank hook. Not saying it's right, but I've always used a big gap 4/0 offset hook for my lizards. And it's extremely rare for one to get away from me w that set up. What am I missing? Thx again
