    Thank you Randy! I’ve used your tips this year for my recreational Arizona fishing and have had a record year for the number of fish I’ve caught. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and skills!

    I learn so much about jigs & bait in general here, not just for Bass. Using your advice, the first cast I made with a white curly tail, I had a strike! It was so surprising I forgot to set the hook & it got away, but I was still having a blast.
    I was always under the impression that plastic bait was worthless & had never used anything but live bait, spoons or Rapala hard lures. There is SOOOO much to learn with these new baits. Thank You -Thank You for teaching so thoroughly & patiently.

    Try the Duo Realis Small Rubber Jig, the finesse jigs with smaller trailer plastics absolutely crush up here in the great lakes region, I catch perch, crappie, bass, pike and walleye on them. I use the very light 1.3g or 1.8g heads and it lets them fall way slower like an unweighted plastic, or you can mid stroll them.

    I fish mostly single day events for 5 fish. I learned a long time ago that targeting b bigger fish yields better results. 4 jig fish will outweigh most limits caught on soft plastic. A limit of fish caught out of shallow cover on a jig will still win a one day event even in the age of ffs.

    Randy I’m a northern boy and live next to the Hudson River. There were a couple of bass tournaments held there in the 90s and you may of fished them..I gave up on jigs because I could never get bit..I do much better here with hair jigs.. I always wanted to be a good jig fisherman but could never make it work..love your channel..you and Guido Hibdon were my heros

    I want to "Catch & Cook," which isn't really the focus of this channel. I just enjoy what you have to say so much, I watch, listen and then go watch your teaching channel or a panfish/Crappie channel.

    Hey Randy, thanks for the video today. I have always struggled with jig fishing and I’m glad to hear that it is an advanced technique. I’ll still be working on it but will take your advice and have a Texas rig on standby. Thanks again.

    100% agree! Jigs for quality. Texas rig for quantity.
    My PB smallmouth and largemouth were both on a jig.

    Amazing advice. I always fish soft plastics here in South Africa as our dams has tons of grass in my home province. Some days we catch over 30 bass in 3 hours but they are small. I will reassess wgat i do. Thanks Randy. Great video as always!!

    Took me 3 years to get a jig bite. I honestly put it away. Then once I got tired of the worm techniques I found it a “advanced version” & a couple of weeks ago I crushed it on a jig. Caught 4 bass in a day. Since then never looked back. But I still like a good ol wacky worm 😎

    I hear you saying, that you use a Jig in dirty water, over a soft plastic bait. What do you consider dirty water? Water visability i never quite understand. Is the florida "TANNIC" water considered "Dirty Water."?

    Great idea for a video. Me personally I almost always throw a jig because just like u said the size average is so much better on a jig. Haven’t thrown a plastic this year yet

    It seems to me that downsizing is the way to go these days. And, I'm not sure the type of bait matters. Whatver you're throwing, take it down a notch. I was on Headwaters all last week (in the absolutely BARBARIC heat). That was a 'bucket-list" lake. Tons of big fish, and it's all catch-and-release. Nothing like it in the country, to my knowledge...and I couldn't get a bite on ANY-thing other than senkos, and the occasional shallow 3" jerkbait. "They" (the Roland Martin crowd that lives on that lake) said the topwater is phenomenal, but I think that's very early right when the sun is coming up. And, this also goes back to how much fun it used to be watching the pro's "figure it out".
    *Randy, I'm at the point to where I think these fish have seen too many jigs, and they don't hit them anywhere NEAR the way they used to.* So far this summer I've caught two fish since February on a jig (I live in central Florida). I ALWAYS start with a jig, and give it an hour trying different colors/trailers), just trying to get better at it, and gain confidence. And, for whatever reason, those bites (at least for me) are VERY few and far, between. It's senko's, rattle-traps (which seems to have died down in FL), jerkbaits, occasional cranks, and occasional top water. I've got hundreds of dollars of jigs (I should've bought stock in Dirty Jigs), and I can't get bit on a regular basis on them, with days I don't get a bite at all. Can't just be me!* It's a shame, because, it's a really fun bait to throw, IMO.

    Please define water clarity . Are we speaking gin clear ? Most of my under a hundred acre lakes are seepage lakes. They aren't gin clear , but a helluva lot clearer then those pea soup lakes like I see the pros fishing. I live in far northeast Wisconsin ! I live a hundred miles North of the frozen tundra of the GREEN BAY PACKERS !

    • @thewaterox1
      @thewaterox1 5 місяців тому

      He defines it right at the very end Water clarity of 1.5 ft or less go with the jig. Greater than 1.5ft clarity go with the soft plastic.
