    You're truly an amazing teacher! I love all of your videos. When I first started soaping, I was worried about safety and other things that may go wrong, but then I found your videos (and discovered the magic of Bramble Berry company) and my life got a whole lot easier. With you I mastered soaping techniques. Looking forward to your other videos.

    hi thank you so much for your help, that was terrific, my first job, my trade was a baker and confectioner, icing cakes, I was taught to cut bag for leaves, snip or slit one end of bag to the point, then do other side to the same point, no way am I suggesting you try this, I just find it easier, you are the expert, one talented lady,

    I was wondering.. Why do we want to use 90+% rubbing alcohol? Would 50 or 70% do anything to help prevent soda ash? Thanks in advance!

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  10 років тому +2

      Hello!
      It's important to use 91% or 99% isopropyl alcohol. Any lower percentage will not help prevent soda ash.

    Hi Laura Kang!
    You can hand mix your soap, but keep in mind it will take several hours.The stick blender allows you to blend your soap in around 30-60 seconds. I would highly recommend using one. =)
    Also, you can use soap at a thick trace as your frosting. However, you will not get the same detail as the soap frosting. This is because the frosting has a lot of hard oils and air whipped into it, which creates nice stiff peaks!

      You're welcome, thank you for watching! For a softer frosting, I would recommend adding more liquid oils like olive and sweet almond. You can add those around 10-20% to start. I would recommend a few small test batches to see how it works! Also, remember to run that recipe through the Lye Calculator after any substitutions. =)

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  10 років тому

      Hi Laura!
      How much fragrance oil are you using in your soap? A general measurement is to add about .7 oz of fragrance per pound of soap. Of course, this will change with certain fragrances!
      I would recommend using our Fragrance Calculator. That will tell you how much fragrance to add to your soap so you get a nice long-lasting scent. =)

    • @CalebCalixFernandez
      @CalebCalixFernandez 2 роки тому

      Anne-Marie has a video explaining how fragrances can behave badly in cold process soap. Another reason is that some fragrances can be destroyed by the lye if added too early. That's why it's better to add them after the saponification has started.

      They are from different parts of the plant and their fatty acid profiles are different. Palm kernel is used for its great lather, much like coconut oil. Palm is more of a "filler" oil--it adds hardness and volume inexpensively.

    How do you use the soap? Just rub in on your body or what?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  9 років тому

      That is correct! Wet the soap with water and rub it on your skin. You can also use a wash cloth or bath pouf if you like. =)
