Thank you ma'am But please how can you measure the ingredients for example what amount of lye, oils and water to use which is supposed to be much and little
Well your website already helped me figure out why my soap went to super thick trace in 15 seconds (cold lye but warm coconut oil) and now I find this! A charming presenter, no over-excited shouting, simple instructions and well filmed. This is the BEST soap making video I’ve found, and I’ve watched quite a few.
@@maria.bibi94the lye needs to cool but it shouldn’t be cold. Needs to be a lil warm. That is what the temperature gun is for. And the oil needs to be a little above room temperature (until it is clear) but the essential oil can be just room temp.
I actually really like this girl and video she's not mentioning her website over and over or tryna sell anything just genuine teaching she seems extremely humble
I refer new soap makers to this channel all the time, because of the information you provide. There's a couple YT channels I love for the in-depth explanations and this is one of them. Thanks Ann-Marie for all you do!
Anne-Marie, it's like you knew that I was about to actually start a soapmaking business and sent me a new tutorial. I've been watching soapmaking on UA-cam for years, but finally decided to start the craft for myself. I just bought your books and this new tutorial is an extra bonus!
Vinegar! Always have white vinegar on hand for if you end up with lye on your skin. I put white vinegar into my sink of soap to deactivate any lye and I use straight vinegar to wipe down my surfaces and tools like my stick blender, thermometer and scale.
Vinegar on lye burn can actually make it worse! ALWAYS use plenty of cool, clean running water on a lye burn. For what it’s worth, common vinegar from the grocery store is only 5% vinegar and 95% water.
This was a very educational and excellent cold process soap video.I just started making my own body butters and hair butters, now I'm delving into my soap making journey, and I'm super excited! Thank you so much for sharing this video!
Hello from Cameroon. I discovered your channel and I must admit I am overwhelmed by the simplicity of your explanations. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. There are so many videos on UA-cam but for the first time I fully understand this cold process soap making process. You give a lot of details and it helps neophyte lovers like me. I subscribe directly to your channel and I will recommend it to other cold soap lovers like me. I hope to be able to show you my achievements in the very near future. Thanks again for sharing this. Sorry for my shaky English, I think you'll understand I'm French speaking and just trying to speak in English.
Your English is very good! If you ever need more indepth information about your recipes or guidance you are welcome to reach out to our customer support team at info@brambleberry.com for more assistance.
Love the way you explained. I started with melt and pour this Christmas, made some macarroon soaps to have fun and give to friends. My family love them. What I see is I need to work fast to make design. I see cold process you have more time so later I am thinking in having my first cold p soap. This is such a good way to be crwative and I learned a lot about what makes a good real soap .

I just ordered the supplies to make soap - it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time and this video gave me the push needed. Than you, I subscribed and look forward to learning more.

Hi , thank you so much for this video. I have been watching many soap-making videos in the last month and yours are the best! I can't wait to get started !
this is from a year ago, but I just watched it today and it was SO helpful to a new "soaper", Love your presentation, so easy to follow, will watch more!
I'm new at making soap and was wondering if I can safely use my dried garden flowers for decoration in my soap making? I do not use any chemicals in my soil. My favorites are mums, marigolds, zinnias, Russian sage and salvia. I am also a Beekeeper and have raw honey and beeswax from my hives, that I would also like to use. What are your thoughts. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You rock!
I was thinking about to start a businesses , thank you so much for this video ❤, your videos helped me a lot to learn about soap making 😍. I want to know about the shelf life of these cold process soaps and is it safe for face?
Great video Anne-Marie! Would love to see a recipe of yours using the heat-transfer method and how you would formulate a soap batch or change your existing practices to fit that new technique :)
Hi! What temp should the lye water and the oil mixture be? What temps are we looking for when using the thermometer? Maybe I missed this! Such a great video.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I am watching all the videos in the play list. Can I use lye (from ashes I have mixed with water to produce the lye)?
I love your videos and how it's in sections and straight forward, thank you for this! I also have a question when you say use distilled water. Do I actually have to buy ready distilled water or I can just boil the tap water first before mixing with the Lye ? 🙈
It depends on the quality of your water. If it is good enough for drinking, it is probably okay for making soap. Some water contains chemicals or minerals that can cause problems with soap making. I would recommend making a small batch of soap using the water you have available and see how your soap turns out. Hope this helps! 🥰

Thanks for this helpful video! It was nice to see how relaxed you were while making it. May I ask why you didn’t use the temperature gauge?
The original soap was made from potassium hydroxide, (hardwood ash).

super charming wasn't she . I loved her charm and amazing patient and humble charm .
A tip that Katie Carson said in her lye safety video is to use half water half ice. It will help cool the lye and keep the fumes at a minimum
This is also a preference. Some rather wait will it cools or work outside but it’s a great tip thanks 🙏🏼😊
Of all the beginner soapmaking videos I’ve watched, you are the first person who ever defined “trace,” so thank you.
You saved some lives with the aluminum warning! Haven’t heard that elsewhere.

Many people keep their soap making equipment separate. However, in my opinion glass items can be washed after soap making and used in the kitchen.

Could you use your immersion blender you use for cooking or would you want a separate one for soap making?
You're welcome to use what you have at home to get started with soap-making. If you're making soap frequently, we recommend having dedicated soap making tools.
What's your opinion on using Heat Transfer Method?

They are commonly referred as lye but there are two types of lye that are typically used for soap. Potassium Hydroxide Lye is used for liquid soap, and Sodium Hydroxide Lye (NaOH) is used for solid bar soap.
Great detail - thank you !
Dear Mam, you are pretty cool. Thanks for making this. Making me understand what I should be doing for my Soap. Thanks very much again
Definitely inspiring! Thanks.
Nice Video..
Great Work...
But Plz let Me know the
Quantity of Lye/sodium hydroxide & oil ... required
Very safe and informative
Is preservative needed in cold processed soap?
Is sodium phytate can be used in cold processed soap?
Can I premix the lye water and store in a plastic jug for future uses??
You can, you'll want to ensure the plastic jug is thick enough for the pH of the lye water.
Hi Anne-Marie, wondering if you can explain 99% NaOH vs. 100% NaOH. Which one we should use for soap making?
Either would work - so long as the percentage is above 90%.
Thank you for the video, super helpful but what are the exact ounces needed for each ingredient?
This video is a general guide on making cold process soap. For recipe ideas you can check our website under Cold Process Projects. www.brambleberry.com/articles-and-projects/projects/cold-process
i see that you used a glass pyrex measuring cup to mix the lye & water. I've just read on various sites that this is unsafe as lye weakens glass and can cause the glass to explode. Is it safe to use a glass pyrex container to mix the lye and water?
We recommend heat-safe glass, plastic, or stainless steel bowls. Don’t use aluminum - it can react with the lye and create toxic fumes.
Can you tell me how much money is needed for all these necessary ingredients and tools from the video? I watched your videos for a couple of days and I really got a strong desire to make soaps.
Your videos are excellent and so informative !
