Hi there! I just discovered your channel through this video and, as a local resident of Romania (actually, Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca city) and an avid hiker and camper, I can tell you that bears aren't usually a nuisance here. There are places where it's unwise to camp because of them but those are generally spots where they are used to human activity and food offerings. Brown bears in our country tend to be quite timid and avoid humans if you make your presence heard/felt in some way and take care of how and where you eat and leave your food. I had encountered them quite a few times but they never did any harm to me. I once woke up in my hammock, during the night, with a bear searching for food around me! But my food was far up in a tree and the bear went away once I woke up and made some noise. So, unless you're a shepherd and defend your sheep from them or sleep with smelly food in your hammock or tent, you should be fine regarding bears. Very nice series you've got here about your trip to Fagaras. I'll definitely watch more :) If you ever come back to the Carpathians, I humbly give you some advice: put your hammock higher off the ground, eat further away from your camp, never wear deodorant, perfume or smelly things on you that could make animals curious, always make sound while travelling in dense bush and be careful of wild boar rather than bears. Boars are idiots and tend to attack much easier than bears. AND: tend to pee close to your camp, around it (10-15m away). The smell is usually a warning for animals. If possible, make a wood fire. Even if the flames die out, the smell of burnt wood will be a useful deterrent as animals tend to associate it with human activity. ALSO: there are quite a lot of illegal logging activities in Romania, sadly. Be careful where you go, film, use your drone. Some people might get aggressive towards you because of this... Cheers from Transylvania.
early this october i went right there on a week long horseback riding trail and it was. so. damn. beautiful. i never imagined romania to be as mesmerizing as i learned it to be and i'll never forget this beautiful place of nature
Believe it or not I did the same trip with two off my mates and saw the mother bear with her three cups, truly chill moment and yet one of the best ones in my life
Don't know much about Romanian bears, but here In the USA the grizzly bear (brown) can and will easily descend a mountain or steep hill at speeds far quicker than the average climber.
Hello! Nice video. I always like these kinds of adventures. I do them myself and also I have my own channel. I often camp in Romanian bear country but didn’t have any problems with bears. The more dangerous ones are bears that got used eating human food because they lost their fear of men. The wild bears avoid people as much as they can. By the way, if you didn’t notice, at minute 12:33, there’s a bear track right in that oil patch. Cheers from Romania!
imagine, wandering fully prepared into the woods you know nothing about, to be lost there for a few days. great experience. especially on magic mushrooms
Great adventure, beautiful landscapes and views from the heights, I myself have recently started documenting my adventures, I love this direction. Good luck on your adventures. Greetings from a Belarusian tourist!
Always love when a new adventure starts up! although i am curious about what's happening with the celtic roundhouse? From what i remember the next series was meant to be spending 60 days there?
Hope you guys are well. There'll be an exodus without the completion of the Round House Adventure. It was all so very exciting and interesting. Have been missing your content. All the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏🖖🙏🤟🇦🇺 Batavia Coast
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!! I just moved to the nordic woods of Sweden from Miami and I have grown my respect for nature sooo much! I upload on UA-cam as well :)
Yo what a sick video thank you! About the bear thing: bears have problems with walking down hills so if u ever get chased by one the only chance of escape u have is to run downhill since their ankles cant hold their weigh. Bears can run and climb very good so dont try to climb up something u loose definetly 😂 Im live in switzerland and share the same intrests as you my parents are from romania and i have been multiple times in the mountains of romania. A true paradise! Super hyped for the next episodes Take care out!
I've walked a bit in the Carpathians beautiful area and really dose feel ancient and natural. I'm guessing I got the same train as you to, which was a bit of an adventure in itself.
4:23 Fun fact. Camping is illegal in Romania anywhere except campings or private properties. That doesn't stop anyone, of course, because, it's Romania after all and you either get a moderate fine or you give the fine to the forester without a receipt if he's into that kind of thing or get a very small "fine" that's basically more like a tax, equal to what you would pay in a camping site. That's if they catch you, of course. Everyone knows it's stupid and you simply cannot enforce it, even if they wanted to, but hey, that's my country for you.
@@tomlorenzen4062 If you're a politician with a couple of hotels or places to rent, but you see the plebs are not paying you and instead are enjoying themselves with cheaper and/or more enjoyable ways than moving from your 4 walls to rented 4 walls, you're going to propose a law to make camping illegal, without giving a reason and ask your other hotel owning buddies to vote for it. That's how this democratic system works. Or if you're in Arco and the locals see that rock climbers are increasingly using vans and not "contributing" to the local economy, you're going to make van camping illegal in the area.
@@tomlorenzen4062 It's been proven time and again, they hate when you can have fun for free. They want you to pay for camping, for everything, really. Same thing happened in Europe when people started using campers and cars. Signs started popping up everywhere in Europe "no camper vans", "no overnight parking" etc.
Glad to *see* you back in action. Will there be an equipment video for this trip? This is a bigger one, where one can't you go back or rely on known enviroment.
I definitely support sustainable logging, but the way those roads were cut and streams were flowing down them was certainly not good logging practice in my opinion. That sediment load will surely and unnecessarily silt-in fish spawning habitat downstream. Great to see you getting out to new areas though man! Keep it up! Always love seeing your content!

Take care Julius,, we'd hate to lose you, for a bears lunch,, 🐻🐻
Here in Canada the wolves and bears are plentiful ,although you would be lucky to see one, and even then it’s likely running away.
Seems odd, seeing Jullius without Dylan around.
Check out Slovakia when you get a chance, we have most bears per capita in Europe, really easy to meet one here.
Haha even the bears are more aggressive in 'Murica than in Europe :D thats kinda funny
good ol european bears
Toemaar heren leuk dat jullie terug zijn met een nieuwe serie
