Great video as always, the talk about confidence and leadership and positive self talk is really good stuff that I think isn’t talked about nearly as much as it should be. I know this video isn’t really about mechanics, but if you wouldn’t mind me asking what do you have to say about Justin Herbert’s throwing motion? Dudes got a rocket for an arm, definitely helps that he’s giant but I would like to get your take.
Appreciate you man, thank you for watching it all the way until the end to! So I think Herbert is really good mechanically until he releases. I think he’s super consistent but I don’t think his release is something younger QBs should try to mimic. He opens up his front side a lot, which in younger kids will cause a sporadic release. But for him, he’s very very very good at a bad habit. It’s one of those things that I wouldn’t teach because it won’t work for everyone but he’s really good at it
Thanks for all the videos they are so helpful on so many different levels! one question I have is how important is to be able to read defenses on the highschool level, and do scouts look for that?
Yeah it’s super important. It’s all about decision making and getting the ball out of your hand accurately. Reading defenses is what helps with that- here is some content we have for that www.firstdowntraining.com/examples
These are some great traits to have. Especially the thermometer and thermostat analogy used. That’s what I’m gonna bring to the field next season. That’s what my team is going to be at. 100° nonstop.
