I think when you go to the wholesalers they give you what's on the shelf when asking for conduit ! Black enamel conduit was a pain not to scratch in the bender.

Have not seen lack steel enamel conduit or sale in over 50 years. Was not allowed outdoors. Liked using Aluminum conduit due to easy to cut & thread by hand & weight saving.

Used to use the black enamel conduit on fire alarm system back in 80s.

@@2Sorts I used back in the late 60s as an apprentice flushed in the wall , easy to wire only 3 wires !

ah yes, the coating chipping when you bent it was an instant fail on the tests we did, but i'm not sure if they were deliberate or just badly coated conduit
"tripods at the ready! bend away!" as the 90 year old instructor used to yell at us 🤣
i wonder if mr eastwood is still teaching folks how to keep the smoke inside the wires?

Type one conduit? I would say PVC conduit would be of type one, although White PVC conduit should not be used out doors as it can deteriorate under UV rays and cold temperatures. As with FTW&E cables. But what do I know I’am just a humble spark who’s opinion means nothing.
Great video Joe as always 👍

Stainless steel conduit is best for those clean areas such as labs and such. Just beware it's very diffucult to thread in a standard bender without the die catching it and spinning in the bender causing scratch marks

Regulations are an actual joke these days. Need a phd to understand them all and all the stupid numbers and classes. 99% of electricians who are the actual ones fitting this stuff on a daily basis don’t have time or the money to study them all. Would take a week to fit a light ffs. ^^ this is a common chat had on site^^. There’s a reason these professors can’t make a living fitting anymore 😂 go to turkey and there’s ovens on a 1mm with no issues or problems to be seen but come to the uk and this guys like you can’t do that it doesn’t comply to bs6761-64-a+20-4.423. Sub section 3.2.187 😂

You aren't wrong... But in fairness the stick is still there to beat you with if it goes tits up. So head in the sand probably not the wisest course of action.
