      depends how lazy i al but i usually do it in 1 of 3 ways
      if i can buy the harness adapter i get that and move on with my life obviously
      but assuming its a stereo with the dozen wires coming out the back i just purchase a universal harness adapter for my vehicle cut off the stero side connector then ill join to that so im cutting up the adapter and not touching the factory loom then ill join the wires in one of theese ways from laziest to most preffered
      1 crimp bullet connectors
      2 self soldering marine splices (they look like heatshrink with a little solder ring when you shrink them they solder the wires together and some adhesive makes them water tight
      3 hand solder them with heatshrink
      wagos arnt a terrible or harmfull way to do it its just a little cludge

    The extra plate to clip that tray into the wagobox light seems quite unnecessary. The cord grips should suffice easily or they could have just made the barbs on the tray clip into the wago box light with two holes for the barbs to go into (and discontinue the old light box without the holes so its not confusing having the 2 versions)

    Would be interesting to ask Wago why 4mm² Class 2 conductors are not supported. It seems like a strange limitation and a particular PITA with typical UK cable types. Perhaps less of an issue with german cables (IIRC 4mm² NYY-J is solid)

    • @Morberis
      @Morberis 2 роки тому +4

      Hmm, I don't know how it works with you metric wire types but 4mm² is the equivalent of 12awg. But in awg sizes stranded wire has a slightly larger physical size than solid wire.
      So maybe it's related to that?

    • @petermichaelgreen
      @petermichaelgreen 2 роки тому +1

      @@Morberis IIRC yes stranded (class 2) is allowed to be slightly larger than solid (class 1), but fine stranded (class 5) conductors are allowed to be slightly larger still. So it's odd to support 4mm² solid and 4mm² fine stranded but not 4mm² stranded.

    • @Morberis
      @Morberis 2 роки тому +1

      @@petermichaelgreen That is very odd. I didn't notice that they were rated for finely stranded.
      The Canadian version of their website lists them as compatible with solid, stranded, and finely stranded. But over here it would be very very odd for something to be rated for #12 solid but not #12 stranded or finely stranded. It basically has to fit any #12 wire. Though requiring ferrules is allowed.

      actually I take that back these are 18-14 gauge ones, so 12 wouldnt be considered Bueno. Hwoever the ones I have and purchased form amazon are -
      "[PERFECT SPECIFICATIONS]: The lever nuts that are 412, 413, and 415 accommodate stranded wires from 0.14 to 4 mm², as well as solid and fine-stranded wires from 0.2 to 4 mm² (24-12 AWG). 221-2401 accommodate solid wires from 20-12 AWG. Ratings up to 32 A/450 V and 105°C maximum continuous operating temperature allow the 221 Series Splicing Connectors to be used at ambient temperatures up to 85 °C (T85), making them ideal for small and large loads. Furthermore, approvals like ENEC or UL allow them to be used in worldwide applications.
      That would be why I immediately thought "That wire works" because.. it does with the ones im used to using. "Wago Wire Connectors 90 pcs, 221 Series Electrical Connectors Assortment with Case" on amazon $40 Usd. Contains 25x WAGO 221-2401, 30x WAGO 221-412, 25x WAGO 221-413, 10x WAGO 221-415

    Minimum & maximum conductor sizes do not correlate between mm2 and AWG.
    From Wago's data sheet:-
    Solid conductor 0.2 … 4 mm² / 20 … 14 AWG
    Stranded conductor 0.2 … 2.5 mm² / 18 … 14 AWG
    Fine-stranded conductor 0.2 … 4 mm² / 18 … 14 AWG
    (Assuming 0.2mm2 = 24AWG and 4.0mm2 = 11AWG).

      Feindrähtiger Leiter 0,14 … 4 mm² / 24 … 12 AWG

    Yes, a really lovely in line connection
    Really love all WAGO stuff!
    BUT... there's always a but..
    Many lighting jobs require a loop in and a loop out for, say, 4 downlights operated by a single switch- very common.
    The problem with existing WAGO boxes is that all the cables come in at one end.
    The result is that it's difficult to pull the box out of the ceiling through the downlighter.
    Looping the feed in and out of one end, and the downlighter connection at the other end would be really elegant.
    What think you please??

    I find it very amusing that the electrical industry in the uk has only just discovered the use of connectors like the WAGO system. They've been using em for ages in other countries but as usual we're at the back of the queue, in the british electrical industry. We're so backward at coming forward it's laughable because we like to think the 'british way' is the only way ! Great to see the industry is open to new ideas and technology now but fgs it's took em long enough !!!

      You’re acting like this video is a discovery no, it’s simply announcing a new type that is quite important to know also the reason why we don’t use the newest technology immediately makes sense because if we leave it a few years for other places to test we can implement something after we found out if it’s going to burn down houses we can also develop the standards for awhile before actually become relevant
