@@callumsimpson7483 you doing the experienced worker nvq? I had same issue I had to complete nvq before I could sit am2 but got my certificate last week thank god
That was excellent thanks, there's not enough videos on UA-cam on conduit bending for UK trainees this series you are doing is absolutely 100 percent perfect, I didn't know about deducting the 6mm for the saddle which explains a lot keep this stuff coming it's extremely helpful even to us know finally qualified guys 👍
Not sure how it would fair in the AM2S, but for anyone else. A tip for the last cut. If you can get the distance from the end of the coupler. To the back end of your 90 bend, cut it at that + 15mm Thread it so the end of your conduit is level with the first line of the nut of your stock and dye set (see 12:43 in the video, he’s done it) that threads the conduit to exactly 15mm (30mm on the 2nd line) Every time, or atleast it has done every time for me since I’ve been using that method after I was shown it on site 4 years ago
Wish this video came in sooner but I passed my AM2S last week yay! The double set has to go into a central heating centre and must be central above the DB, the set I had to make was much lower than the one in this video but I’m sure all training centres are different slightly. Thanks for the video this will help a lot of students out there for sure !
I can do that all day long and love steel conduit, I use it lots in houses, I've even got 32mm bender and threaders, great for tails buried in a wall 😆
I've never had a bender in my LIFE that starts at the very edge of the former. It's always a little ways in and to make sure it's repeatable. You mark the ACTUAL start by cutting the edge of the former. I had a brand new bender one time so I cut a mark where it actually starts to bend too help everyone else out 🙂
I’ve got my AM2s in July just refreshing myself on steel comduit. I’ve seen differing information though about the AM2s and what you need to do for the steel conduit section. I’ve heard just a double set and 90 bend like in this video but also the above and a running coupler. Does anyone know if the running coupler is actually a requirement for the a AM2s steel conduit section. Thanks
Can I ask please. If you put conduit into former from opposite end how much does it add or subtract from measurement. Hope this makes sense! (Normally you put measured end into former from front first)
Go buy one and start bending ! Here in NZ the 90deg bends are cheap as chips so I no longer use a spring. Also here there is very little metal conduit along with metal flush boxes. Measure twice cut once is the key.
@@markkennard861 I am from the Netherlands 😎 We use different installation systems here like the "central box system" (You go from your circuit breaker to a central box ( lighting point ) and from there to your switches and sockets or next central box. The circuit type is called radial in the UK). For Cables and wires we use plastic conduct and we use a spring to bend our conduct, use fixed bends or flexible conduct But eFIXX has so many good technical videos. It doesn't matter where you from, they will always share something that can be used in any type of installation.
Exactly still in the trade and frequently do conduit I always use lockrings so I can tighten things up In all my years I have never put two lengths of pipe together solely with a coupling and it been straight always two rings and a coupling so you can adjust and tighten
I hate bending when the conduit sits in the bender at too high of an angle. Why can't they make benders where the conduit sits in the bender at level 0°
I agree but the reason they don't because every bending machine is different so this would not work and you have to include wear and tear so if there was angle markers on it ,it would be off actually
I passed metal conduit but failed plastic, on retake I had to retake both, felt okay about plastic but metal was so perfect and fit in like a dream! Flush either side but got the result back and I passed plastic and failed metal 😂 appealed it (knowing/them tell me getting a pass is almost impossible at that stage) but got the email to say that my appeal was successful! 🎉🎉🎉
Absolutely beautiful!!! I don’t do much conduit, but practicing at work when team leader not about 😉, 1 question though do you not require a lock ring at rear of coupler or is it not required as the coupler is “locked up against male thread and brass bush”??????
Hated my AM2 over 30yrs ago but still passed. Seem to remember having a pyro (mineral insulated) cable to do too (but I might be mistaken). Nice to see some things don't change... Its still a BITCH! 🤣🤣
Does anyone the formula for in example I have 1000mm left scrap (left over pipe ) 20mm steel conduit and I want after my bend to be 200mm I know I can mark 55mm in top of my bender and I get 100% correct . What I don’t a understand from 1000mm how much pipe it’s going to be left as I have tried training something I am losing 110mm sometimes 150mm sometimes 50mm I don’t know why .😅😅😅 just learning .
As always a great tutorial on UK conduit skills. Well done guys. Though I would use a 1/2” (13mm) brush for the cutting paste, less messy and wasteful when hand threading. Also a reamer and magnetic welders square, though these probably wouldn’t be available on an assessment for AM2. Just a thought 👊😎👍💙
Absolutely bang on if you’re preparing for the AM2. Sat mine last week and passed first time. Cheers gents.
So glad it was helpful 👍🏻 Gaz
Well done jack what advice would u give us mate got mine near mid summer if I do my nvq in time
Great work 👍🏻
Got mine on the 16th mate , any tips ??

Just found this channel but I must say its really good I'm a sparkie and even I'm seeing a few things that can help me so thanks guys great work
Thanks Mike - hope to see you as a regular in the comments!
Grand job Jake. Now i'd like to see you go down the pub and have yourself a pint. I think you've earned it 😁
Top video chaps. Got this exact job to do on my AM2E tomorrow. Very helpful

Well done mate! I'm gonna teach this soon to students! It was very helpful video! I will give you credit!
SKILLS! Absolutely in awe!
Loved it Jake. The old boy seems to be comin' on
Hope to learn metal conduit this year, good video
Thanks 👍🏻
Good job.
Magnetising the square makes it a bit easier
Smashing video lads! Keep up the good work 👏
Fantastic demonstration! Love the Snickers pants by the way. Down from Australia!
Absolutamente perfeito, um ótimo trabalho parabéns.
Perfect joob.
There are incliniometers available allowing to take guess work out of bending. Great channel and fantastic set of videos. Well done guys.
Good craftsman...spot on!
Thanks 👍🏻
Can you show us a crank/bubble set in plastic conduit as this is also on the AM2s
More AM2 please 💪💪💪 start to finish and everything in between 👍👍 HNY 2022🍾🍾🍾🍾
Thanks 👍🏻
Could you please do a video on a conduit bridge set? Many thanks!
Nice job.
i love you guys. very helpful.
Thanks 👍🏻

How come you didn,t use any locking rings or segerated washers on the conduit?
Thanks a lot
This video very useful
Thanks ☺️
Awsm video sr .
How many goes did you do ? I’d have hidden all that bent conduit in the corner of the video first 😜
Scrap man is always hanging around when these are being filmed
@@Zombie_Longwinger We always had "The Conduit Graveyard" in the corner
@@Zombie_Longwinger bit of paint stripper or wet and dry always sorted the print out
Is the second mark crucial eg does it have to be 70mm or can it be 71 73 75 etc
can guys please do some tray fabrication PLEASE!
Great conduit
Very nice video I would also file the jaw marks of the tube as well, nothing worse than sliding your hand over the tube and slicing hand.
Bang on that was cheers.
Nice one fellas 👍👍
Thanks 👍🏻
Cracking video 👌🏻
Thanks 👍🏻
Great video but can I ask how on site are you suppose to score a line for bend when don’t have a workbench to use!?
Made it even easier by adding the through box in between bends!
Brilliant
2 kings one throne🍾🎉

First time right ! What a beautifull video eFIXX ! Possible to make a video with PVC conduct and a bending spring ?
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Go buy one and start bending ! Here in NZ the 90deg bends are cheap as chips so I no longer use a spring. Also here there is very little metal conduit along with metal flush boxes. Measure twice cut once is the key.

Could you link me the video where you guys mark the bender for sets?
I am very impressed by this excellent work !
But I would want to see how you get a wire in this tube ;)
What kind a bender is that?
Wouldn’t a reamer be a more efficient way to remove the burr than a round file after cutting?
I was taught to use a closed pair of side cutters
It's your own preference
Been a while since I was in the trade but does no one use lockrings anymore?
Exactly still in the trade and frequently do conduit I always use lockrings so I can tighten things up In all my years I have never put two lengths of pipe together solely with a coupling and it been straight always two rings and a coupling so you can adjust and tighten
Lock rings and running threads get you out of trouble so easily. Yet a lot of the newer guys just don't use them...
what else is part of the AM2 ? do you still have MICC cable (pyro)?
I hate bending when the conduit sits in the bender at too high of an angle. Why can't they make benders where the conduit sits in the bender at level 0°
Is this the exact layout of the bend we will need to do?
It’s an example 👍🏻 - it will have a bend and a set
Those bending machines need some sort of angle markers built in
I agree but the reason they don't because every bending machine is different so this would not work and you have to include wear and tear so if there was angle markers on it ,it would be off actually
Would you not do the 90 first so you can hold it on the wall?
Is this the same across all colleges? We were told we have to do a bubble set in galv conduit.
The bubble set for AM2S is in PVC conduit 👍🏻
How did you know the degree to do your first bend mate?
Why not do back of tread measurement? That’s the only thing I would do differently
I passed metal conduit but failed plastic, on retake I had to retake both, felt okay about plastic but metal was so perfect and fit in like a dream! 🤔🤡

More of a Scottish thing I believe.
A lock ring? Why when the coupling is tight
You go on building site and they supply you with nice new bender and workbench to work with 🤔🤔
my work always looks good.but i think me,you, and the builder are the only ones who can tell if its a little off
Why wasn’t it bent at 45 degrees as in other videos it is?
30 degrees is easier to pull cable through
Very good but you use the grips the wrong way around
Good
What is this black magic?
Steel conduit? Why use that when 10m of corrugated flexible conduit does the same thing?
Why are you using a ruler when you can just bring the pipe to the wall and mark it?
I have always used a foot bender what is this black magic
I ended up having to borrow someone else's. don't use it much in my company.
Did the plastic one fine but failed massively at this 🤣

That was tasty at the end. Spot on
Thanks 👍🏻
Always cut the bit you dont need off
@4 minutes it seems this was not such an easy video to make. So many do overs.
I can't bend conduit to save my life. One of the reasons I didn't become a plumber (that and being elbow deep in s**t)
🤣
TBF we can’t solder pipes 😂
Ahhhh you short mate
Don't use permanent marker on site... Use a pencil
You can get rid of permanent marker very easily
Took too many tries lol
Wait, you have to bend conduit in school? Weird?
Or screwing to chip wood
In the real world you don't always have a table on site
Correct 👍
