@@spnfirearms have you seen the "hack" where people destroy an OEM mag for a G19 by stripping the plastic back on 2 sides, and it fits in the 43x/48 frame? It's wild but seems to work
I snagged one PSA mag. I'm hopeful they won't have as many problems as the S15. I'm just waiting for them to ship. They were on the site yesterday for a little bit. I got mine the first day. Update to this: shot 250 rounds through the one PSA mag with no malfunctions
@@omarslim3362 I've put 500 rounds through one with no jams, but the slide didn't lock back the last time I went to the range. I took the mag apart and there was a piece of plastic hanging on the inside. I'm guessing that was the problem. That's the one flaw with these mags.

I've contacted them about the problems and I will be sending them back. I will go back to the Glock magazines where I have confidence in the reliability.
How does your slide release get stuck if the feature to push up the slide release is in the follower? You have an aftermarket slide release that's not properly bent. Don't blame the mag.

I bought 3 of the newest gen3 SA magazines for my one 43x set up with the SA metal mag catch. None of the brand new magazines locked the slide back on empty magazines. When I did the same with my 5 PSA Micro Dagger magazines that UPS just delivered an hour ago, I encountered zero feeding and ejection issues on all 3 of my stock 43x's and all of the magazines locked the slide back when they were empty, and when the last round was hand ejected. I have two S15 mags that have had zero issues so far. I also have a S15 with a +5 extension but it fails to feed so it seems to be a nice paperweight as of right now

The Shield mag release does not allow you to use OEM, unless you destroy them.
I have 2 gen 3 s15's with 0 issues what so ever. I trust my mags after many rounds with no hiccups. However that being said, if I purchase more in the future I would not blindly trust the new mags till I have enough rounds through them to be confident in their performance. I will also say I run a Holosun optic. I spent time ensuring that I milled enough off the mounting screw that sits directly above the extractor to ensure no interference. It seems to be a known issue that this screw can cause issues and is more likely to cause issues when using s15 mags.
I bought a 3 pack of shield arms Gen 3s for my 43x. I don't know what the deal is but the slide would not pull. If I locked the slide and then inserted the mag it would work, but next mag... I tried the SA mags and brand new they failed to feed. I returned them. Then I tried the PSA Dagger Micro mags. After about 700 rounds they started to fail. I have about 2000 rounds through my Glock mags and not a single problem. Maybe 10 rounds is not a lot, but at least you can be confident in the fact that if you are in a self defense situation, they will work.

It's another reminder that going away from OEM is always a gamble and needs thorough testing before trusting your life to the new system (and of course even OEM everything it would be stupid not to test your firearm....I've had brand new revolvers fail to function right out of the box).
I can see the appeal, but I personally don’t like the G43x or the P365. I just don’t like the skinny grip. I like gen 3 Glocks. I almost always carry my G26 with the smallest pierce grip extension, gives me a place to put my pinky finger with no extra magazine capacity. I personally can’t compromise with reliability for my concealed carry gun. That’s why I stick with my G26. When I’m not carrying that, I’m carrying my Glock 19 or a J frame S&W. I’m ok with after market magazines for the range, but I always carry a Glock magazine.
I had 3 s15 mags, not a single one was reliable for even one session of shooting. All three mags had feed issues, wouldnt lock back, or just jammed constantly and couldnt get through 1 magazine without some sort of failure. I'll never buy them again and will definitely never trust my life on the s15 mags.
I agree. Good review. I went back to 100% reliability with the Glock OEM 10-round magazines. All shots matter! Check out my review and let me know what you think? I discovered the issues being the top front magazine lip and the dimples on the back of the magazine not even touching the mag well inside the receiver. I made mods.
I have 3 gen 1’s and never had a problem in my 43x or my mos. For several rounds idk how many. But one day I noticed one didn’t lock back. Then I noticed none of them lock back. I keep them loaded and that shouldn’t weaken the springs but apparently it does their springs. I went with the 10 percent stronger springs and one of them I did have failures to feed a few times but after leaving them loaded a while the next time I went to the range I didn’t have any failures. But like you say it’s still in the back of your mind. Just got some psa micro mags in today. Hopefully wont have any issues and I can feel comfortable with them. They already have good reviews.
I have 1 for my 43x….. bought it not even knowing about the flaws…. Never used it and probably never will… instead I got a tarran tactical plus 5 extension, the reason? Because it’s an OEM mag with a plus 5 plate… extends the grip a bit yet still concealable and trustworthy 💯
I have 5 of them and they aren’t worth a damn. I sent them to them and they sent it back saying they changed the springs. Yet none of them feed consistently. I just picked up the new PSA one, wish me luck.
Had all 3 of my gen3 S15 mags fail on me at the range a few days ago. Failure to eject, rounds getting stuck in the mag, went home and immediately switched back to OEM. Shield just lost all of my trust. Glock perfection is a slogan for a reason. I just carry more OEM mags with me.
I have never had a problem with shield mags. Maybe Jim and Todd need to check their ammunition. I've had two stove pipes: one with Herters, and the other with American Freedom. Both were due to the bullet not being seated in the casing far enough. I always qc my carry ammo, but I like a malfunction during training. Now what I'm not even going to try are the dagger mags. That shits going to peel. Goodluck in extreme conditions. S15's are simple and reliable. Check your ammunition and clean your mags.
long story short, my problem with the S15 mags were out of 6 mags 3 wouldnt drop free out of 3 43x pistols i had, it didnt matter if i had the oem mag release or the SA mag release. sent them to SA and they claimed they would drop from all of their test guns so they wouldnt replace them even though they were on the bigger side of what they considered with in spec. they claimed frames are slightly different from gun to gun. fair, but then how is glock able to make 4 different generations with all mags being compatible between generations so long as youre not a lefty. all 20 of my gen 3 mags work fine in my gen 4 and 5 guns, my gen 5 mags all work in my gen 3-4 guns. SA wanted me to wrap one of the mags in painters tape, jam it in the mag well and heat it up to expand the mag well. yeah no, they didnt stand behind their work so thankfully Brownell's was willing to give me a fully return on all my mags. SA is out to make a quick buck which could end up costing you your life.
I had gen 2's that were single shot, sent them in for shield to tell me they were fine. Gen 3 rolls out and they reluctantly agree to swap em. ..... single shot mags still. They state their mags change the feeding geometry but then say the problem is your firearm .... that's why Glock OEM mags work in all four firearms tested and all three of theirs are single shot. And yep, I bought the kit with their mag catch and used it. Stay with factory mags that work.
I stick with the Glock double stack 9s and the 365s for concealment. I had the shield mags for my 43x and flawless but why settle when the 365 has so much capacity stock.
I know you stated in the video that the promags are not reliable but is this just their reputation you are basing this comment off of or have you actually tested them on the 43x?
I have 3 Z9 mags and haven’t had feeding issues but the slide doesn’t lock back on the last round. I’ve already pulled the springs out and stretched them twice they always get soft again after sitting with 9 rounds in them it’s disgusting considering how expensive they are… I currently feel comfortable carrying it ever day but it’s always in the back of my head wondering what if they don’t work when I need them too…
My shield arms Glock 43 magazines were not reliable. Also the floor plates are flimsy and will wear out by themselves and pop off after a few hundred rounds
I'm trying to figure out if Glock is working on a 15 round magazines for the 43X. To be real, I would not chance it with these magazines. There are too many hit or miss stories.
My friend has been raving about them but none of my picks worked right to get that mag catch in and I'm still skeptical as to whether it'd stop those mags from jamming like a mf though. I'm sticking to OEM mags. If you can't get it done in 10 you're fucked with 15.
I just bought a 43X recently. I never really liked Glocks, mainly because of their boxy feel. The trigger is an absolute abortion. If I shoot more than 50 rounds my finger is killing me because of the drop safety digging into it. I didn't want to invest in adding a better trigger, I was thinking of just selling the damn thing. How do you feel about that trigger?
IMO, Unless you are in LE and could possibly get involved in a gun battle, 10 rounds plus 1 is plenty of firepower. If an upstanding citizen does have a "situation", maybe 3-4 well placed rounds (TRAIN with your carry weapon). Presentation of the weapon usually works. The 43X is an excellent backup weapon for LE. Glock knew what they were doing when they developed this weapon. I don't trust my life to any aftermarket items developed for an already excellent firearm.
I havent had any malfunctions from my original glock mags. I bought 1 SA mag gen 3 and mag catch and shot about 100 rounds from my 43x. It jammed EVERY. SINGLE. ROUND about 50% of the time and the other 50% was jamming of every other round. It was a complete failure. I am going to try my best to return them. I thought, you know what, maybe I wont have issues. However, this was obvisouly not the case and i hated every shot that came from the mag. Shame on SA and other dealers for supplying the market with this piece of s***
I had a P365XL but when i saw the S15 mags i sold the Sig to go back to Glock.... Big mistake! I love glock but for the price of a g48, adding sights, then buying mags that may or may not work was an eye opener. I am now back to a regular P365 and an Xmacro; if im carrying Glock it will be a 26, 19, or 30s. Thier micro compacts are a joke compared to the competition
If it’s nothing but reliable on the thousands of rounds you’ve tested personally, the 43x shield mags are nothing to doubt about. They’re constantly updating their mags as well
@@Tayne195 so is that same argument used for all 5 generations of glocks ? All new iPhones ? Anything and everything gets updates so your argument isn’t valid
What’s up, man! My Shield Arms mags didn’t work well. Several malfunctions in the first box of 50. We did some drawing from IWB and shooting drills with three firearms. P365XL, G27, and G43X with the Shield Arms mags. Nothing but failures and decided to run the OEM mags. Unfortunately, they didn’t work for me and I couldn’t justify paying for potentially defective magazines, let alone the risk of malfunctions in a self-defense situation. I ended up switching to a P365XL for better mag capacity and reliability (when compared to the Shield Arms mags)
Shiled arms is charging way too much. The fact you have to upgrade the mag release and can't use oem mags without ruining them is bs. This is why the dagger mag wins. It's cheaper, you don't have to replace the mag release and if you want you can go back to oem mags....
The fact that sa had to make 3 different generations and still cant get it 100 percent right is laughable. Psa came out with the micro dagger magazines and you dont even have to swap out mag releases. Ive heard a lot of good things about them.
I agree 100%! I have heard about a couple issues with the psa mags but overall much better than shield arms, as you said, through 3 gens and hundreds of dollars later
Why Fu_k with perfection? Gaston’s mags always, no matter what caliber, run 100% of the time. It’s not worth the extra five rounds, just carry a Glock 19!
So you have had no issues with the S15 mags but because other people are having issues you make a video saying S15 "is not the answer"? And your solution is to use the 10 round mag with the steel mag catch? That's more concerning that the fact that OTHER people are having issues with S15... makes ZERO sense!
It’s crazy how some people have different problems with some firearms. I owned a Glock 43x and did the shield arms mag catch and had 3 shield mags, nothing but jams. Constantly getting stove pipes. Sold the gun and went with a shadow system cr920(another gun people claim to jam) but my cr920 has never had a failure roughly 2500 rounds and is my main ccw. Ima big Glock fan but the 43x to me was a big let down
To quote the late, great, James Yeager. Only OEM factory magazines should be used in Glock pistols. If you want 15 rounds, then carry a Glock 19. All aftermarket mags are JUNK. RIP James, thank you for everything you taught me.
I favor the Glock 19. Your philosophy is sensible, OEM 10 rounds certainty is superior to 15 aftermarket maybe. The Yankee Marshall made an extensive video on youtube explaining the mechanical /technical dynamics of why the OEM wider magazine of a 26, 19, 17 is more reliable than the aftermarket 43, 48. Likewise the single stack magazines from 1911s and the oem 43,44 and 48. BTW your reasoning aligns with the attitude of the old timer revolver shooters that the reliability of a 5 or 6 shoots for sure bests the firepower of a finicky autoloader.
@@dylanholbrook6239 Yankee was comparing G19 oem magzines and Magpul polymer to aftermarket Shield Arms magazines for the G43X/48, with steel sheet metal tubes. Its not a quality issue its an engineering dynamic.
I'm 100 % reliable with my gen 1 and 2 Shieldarms mags. Over a thousand rounds with gen 1 and 300 with gen 2. I did order 2 PSA micro 15. If they pan out. It will kill Shieldarms.

Try out the PSA micro mag that I have been hearing about.
I have the Shield Arms and just ordered two from PSA
I want to try the psa ones. I’ve had great luck with my mags for the 43x so far. Hoping the Gen 3’s are solid
Psa mags? ?
PSA mags are 100% better and you can still use your OEM mags because you don’t have to change the mag release.
Where can I order a slide like this from?
long story short, my problem with the S15 mags were out of 6 mags 3 wouldnt drop free out of 3 43x pistols i had, it didnt matter if i had the oem mag release or the SA mag release. sent them to SA and they claimed they would drop from all of their test guns so they wouldnt replace them even though they were on the bigger side of what they considered with in spec. they claimed frames are slightly different from gun to gun. fair, but then how is glock able to make 4 different generations with all mags being compatible between generations so long as youre not a lefty. all 20 of my gen 3 mags work fine in my gen 4 and 5 guns, my gen 5 mags all work in my gen 3-4 guns.
I wish Glock made this with a shorter and wider grip
No issues with my gen 2s in 3k rounds so far
Because I still hear of P365 failures. Don’t trust it personally.
@@jlinka79 I would’ve sold it by now lol. Sorry you’re having that many issues!
Where did you get that grip tape???
Looks like Handle It grips.
I have 8 shield arms gen 2 mags for my 48… only put rounds through 3 of them so far.. no issues so far
I worry when I see reports of bad heat treating. A mag could run great but be too soft, and get deformed and become a bad mag through normal use.
Yes agreed. When I see others having issues and it’s legit a lot of people, that makes me nervous.
Got one for my 43x. It is also the reason I carry a shield plus now. 😂
I know you stated in the video that the promags are not reliable but is this just their reputation you are basing this comment off of or have you actually tested them on the 43x?
I have 3 Z9 mags and haven’t had feeding issues but the slide doesn’t lock back on the last round. I’ve already pulled the springs out and stretched them twice they always get soft again after sitting with 9 rounds in them it’s disgusting considering how expensive they are… I currently feel comfortable carrying it ever day but it’s always in the back of my head wondering what if they don’t work when I need them too…
What if you put the 43x OEM mag spring in them? Not sure if the Z9 mags are thinner though
My shield arms Glock 43 magazines were not reliable. Also the floor plates are flimsy and will wear out by themselves and pop off after a few hundred rounds
Over 1200 rounds with my shield arms gen 1 mags + pmm micro comp and not a single hiccup with 124 gr ammo
How do you like the red dot? I just picked one up. But haven't gotten the right screws to mount it.
I'm trying to figure out if Glock is working on a 15 round magazines for the 43X. To be real, I would not chance it with these magazines. There are too many hit or miss stories.
Someone MUST make a metal mag catch with a polymer insert !
Nothing like bad customer service.
Yup… that’s facts.
My friend has been raving about them but none of my picks worked right to get that mag catch in and I'm still skeptical as to whether it'd stop those mags from jamming like a mf though. I'm sticking to OEM mags. If you can't get it done in 10 you're fucked with 15.
who the hell are Jim and Todd?
I just bought a 43X recently. I never really liked Glocks, mainly because of their boxy feel. The trigger is an absolute abortion. If I shoot more than 50 rounds my finger is killing me because of the drop safety digging into it. I didn't want to invest in adding a better trigger, I was thinking of just selling the damn thing. How do you feel about that trigger?
Wouldn't it be better for you if you just got mag extensions for the 43x/48 oems or would that make the grip too long?
Definitely make the grip too long. It’d be like carrying a 19X at the least, but maybe even longer.
Shield arms now makes 20 round mags for their gen 3 and they run flawlessly.
Uh uh sure they do!
If it’s nothing but reliable on the thousands of rounds you’ve tested personally, the 43x shield mags are nothing to doubt about. They’re constantly updating their mags as well
Mine have been solid. It just is always in the back of my thoughts that’s all. I just know so many people with so many issues.
@@Tayne195 so is that same argument used for all 5 generations of glocks ? All new iPhones ? Anything and everything gets updates so your argument isn’t valid
@@Tayne195 then why is there already a Gen5 Glock? We should still have Gen 1 with that logic! 😂
@@ODB357iPhones and Glocks have newer generations for improvement, not to fix things that are faulty to begin with like the SA mags. 😊
Maybe it’s a tempering issue they have with whoever is producing their springs for them.
What grip is on your 43X? Could you tell me? Very nice!
Looks like Handle It grips.
Feel like I ruined my 43x by switching to the shield arms. Gun sitting the safe now not reliable in anyway.
Shiled arms is charging way too much. The fact you have to upgrade the mag release and can't use oem mags without ruining them is bs. This is why the dagger mag wins. It's cheaper, you don't have to replace the mag release and if you want you can go back to oem mags....
Keep your OEM mags gentlemen.
I know many people might not agree with me on this S&W Shield Plus > 43x . Let’s argue if you disagree.
I only have a 43X, but I agree with you after shooting the Shield Plus
@@jlinka79 Mine doesn’t have any problems . What problems did they say it has had ?
The fact that sa had to make 3 different generations and still cant get it 100 percent right is laughable. Psa came out with the micro dagger magazines and you dont even have to swap out mag releases. Ive heard a lot of good things about them.
I agree 100%! I have heard about a couple issues with the psa mags but overall much better than shield arms, as you said, through 3 gens and hundreds of dollars later
Why Fu_k with perfection? Gaston’s mags always, no matter what caliber, run 100% of the time. It’s not worth the extra five rounds, just carry a Glock 19!
I have the shield mags and I am scared to trust my life with them
Thanks
So you have had no issues with the S15 mags but because other people are having issues you make a video saying S15 "is not the answer"? And your solution is to use the 10 round mag with the steel mag catch? That's more concerning that the fact that OTHER people are having issues with S15... makes ZERO sense!
Nor is PSA mags….
Thanks 😊
It’s crazy how some people have different problems with some firearms. I owned a Glock 43x and did the shield arms mag catch and had 3 shield mags, nothing but jams. Constantly getting stove pipes. Sold the gun and went with a shadow system cr920(another gun people claim to jam) but my cr920 has never had a failure roughly 2500 rounds and is my main ccw. Ima big Glock fan but the 43x to me was a big let down
Get the Gen 3
Glock should sell us 15rd mags but I bet they are concerned about impacting GLock 19 sales.
Except Yankee is wrong. The PSA mags have the same internal diameter as a g19 magazine
That is clean. 👏👏
Thanks man, respect
Literally going to the range tomorrow with 2 x new Gen 3 mags for my 43x. I’ll let you know the results. I appreciate your content.

@@NMCD0892 Once again, love your content! Just returned from the range w/the 2 x Shield Arms Gen3’s with their mag catch installed. 300 rounds each mag to include ball and HP’s. Ran a few cycles of 15 and 15+1. Zero malfunctions. Slide locked back every time after the last round was fired. Hopefully the same result for the rest of your viewers. Thanks again!
