I was in this movie. I was the guy in sunglasses rushing by Mike Conners at the 1:20:58 mark. During the filming I also helped Mare Winningham who accidentally stumbled. She reached out her hand to me and I pulled her up. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt. I’ve always been a big fan of hers. If you’re interested go watch her movies. She’s played a lot of very meaningful and heartfelt roles. She’s such a great actress.
The movie was entertaining. But it seemed like they built the park on top of underground oil tanks to get so many explosions. Lastly, I wish the editors didn’t use red letters in credits. Red is terrible for film and video. It bleeds and sometimes so much it becomes unreadable. As an editor, producer and director of over 300 films and videos I’ve never used red for that reason. White is always the best.

I remember my auntie used to take me to Ocean View Park when I was a kid. I remember watching this on tv. Back in those days they always had a very good tv movie on. Life was so simple and less commercial.

I know what you mean. Everything is commercialized now. Things were so carefree back then. I remember getting out of college at the university of Houston at 830pm. I’d drive to the Astrodome if the Astros were playing. After the first inning you could park anywhere you wanted for free. Then I could just walk right into the Astrodome and find any seat that was empty. I remember watching so many games. One day I got a seat right by home plate and got to watch Nolan Ryan pitch.
It’s sad how everything you do now cost money. And to get tickets to any event leads to getting ripped off by corrupt ticket resellers. I used to be able to buy front row seats for face value. Now, corrupt companies like Ticketmaster buy up all the best seats and jack up the prices by $1,000 to 10,000% or more. A Texas state congresswoman proposed a bill to outlaw ticket resellers in the 1990s. But republicans who controlled Texas government sold out consumers and defeated her bill. Republicans ‘say’ they are for lower taxes but that’s a damned lie. They increased every fee, tax, license, fine and other charges in Texas. But those fees (TAXES) are targeted to the poor and middle class. I wish people would wake up and realize republicans ALWAYS hurt the most vulnerable in society while they whore themselves out to their rich pimps.
      Great movie.

I did some research on this park. At this point the park had been closed to the public since '78. 2 movies were filmed, this being the second. The demolition of the rollercoaster was actually hard. Dynamite was attempted twice w/o results. It had to be manually bulldozed. The Rocket refused to go quiet.

With the writers strike, I found out there's so much better content on the web vs. the TV. I got rid of cable and just keep a tablet connected to the TV with an HDMI bluetooth adapter. YT and the internet archive have more than enough viewing material, it'd take years to go through it all.

A sad end to one of many great classic parks that America lost. Developers killed off most parks that could be found at summer resorts and mid size towns. So very few of these have hung on today, with ones in Pennsylvania and others like Santa Cruz Boardwalk that come to mind. Fortunate that we still have Coney Island as well. You just do not get the atmosphere and charm at the big overpriced theme parks. The park was featured in the 1977 suspense movie Rollercoaster.

Here in Mass., we had 2 such parks, Revere Beach and Paragon Park, both gone. Paragon's wooden rollercoaster was the first such one in the country and resides down in Maryland. It was purchased by Adventure World (now Six Flags). The beach front properties are worth a lot and spelled death for such amusement venues.

What was supposed to be the fuel for the explosions? I thought they were going to say something about gas lines or something but they gave no explanation.

I see some of the reactions here and I can't stop laughing.......
No, no don't get me wrong and don't blame the people who accidentally respond to spelling mistakes.
There is a reason for that.
I’ll be honest, I use Google translation all the time, and I’ve always been absolutely sure that my reactions were okay, and I didn’t understand why people were commenting and angry.
In the end, I realized that the computer does not fix or use the same language and how I want to express my opinion.
The computer is a robot and he translates according to what he understands, and there are a lot of misunderstandings.
People think there is something wrong with the person writing the comment, but it is not.
After the bad experience I had, I realized that I needed to check my response before sending any message.

One minute in and the awful acted hysteria. Thanks for the upload but really , I personally cannot stand sensationalised poor acting when trying to convey disturbed emotion. I can only speak from my own experience - we don’t wake up like that but shivering and shaking . Admittedly , I’ve no idea w(ere this was going b7t , too much already
