Dr Idz is WRONG About Plant Toxins!

  • Dr Idz seems to think that just because he hasn't seen something, that it doesn't exist. This hubris can get you into trouble. You may have seen his video where he took a 30 second clip of a 2.5 hour video and tried to critique it without even watching the rest of the video to see the context. Unfortunately for @dr_idz he was utterly, and verifiably, wrong. He states that plants DON'T contain any carcinogens, and even if they did, they would LIKELY be hormetic (just a guess, no evidence provided). And of course, if they dont exist, then they are neither hormetic or anything else. Too bad for Dr Idz, it is a well documented fact that plants contain harmful toxins, some of which can be carcinogenic, according to the World Health Organization, UC Berkeley professor Bruce Ames, many books on Botany, and countless other sources. If they are hormetic though, he would have to show the following, which he doesnt do:
    1. Which ones are hormetic?
    2. At what dose are they hormetic?
    3. What is the effect?
    4. Are all the toxins hormetic?
    5. As there can be hundreds of toxins in any given plant, are they all hormetic at same ratio in same plant?
    6. How would you know?
    7. How can you know the exact amount of each toxin in each plant in say a salad?
Dr Idz does not even attempt to provide any of this because he has no idea and was just making a wild accusation, which seems to be par for the course for him.
What's more, he references studies that claim eating more veggies is beneficial, but they only compare against processed food diets, not whole food meat based diets, so they are meaningless. And where are his references? Mine are below. For all studies always ask, "compared to what?" If they don't compare the two groups that you are looking at, the study isn't applicable to the conversation.
It takes a lot of knowledge to realize just how little we know and to have some humility about it, and unfortunately again, Dr Idz hasn't gotten that far in his studies.
"It doesn't matter how smart you are if you don't stop and think."
    --Thomas Sowell
    **UPDATE!**
Turns out Dr Idz is an ideologue (Idzdeologue?). He specialized in Lifestyle Medicine, which is part of a religious movement led by the Seventh Day Adventist Church to get rid of meat from the diet, as they have been religiously anti meat since the 1800s. They even founded Kellog's cereals and Sanitarium foods to push this agenda. He's ideologically, not scientifically, driven, whether he realizes it or not. Look into it yourself: he is a self-proclaimed Lifestyle Medicine specialist. Lifestyle medicine is founded and run by the Seventh Day Adventist Church out of their medical school Loma Linda and was originally called the Christian Association of Lifestyle Medicine. They set the curriculum and write the exams; this is just a front for their religious agenda. They also have huge ties to the processed food giants like Coca-Cola, Nestle, Sanitarium, and of course Kellog's.
Furthermore, the SDA church also founded the university program in nutrition and dietetics way back in 1917, wrote the textbooks, and still influence the curriculum. I bet you he didn't tell you guys that! Personal anecdote. On Wednesday morning, after 3 months of strict carnivore, weiged 301.4 lbs (down from 330). For our anniversary the wife and I went to a Disney resort. Gave myself permission to eat whatever I wanted. After 36 hours of eating carbs (a little sugar, but primarily wheat, corn & vegetable products) I weigh 312.2 lbs. Every joint and muscle group in my body hurts. The inflammation is real. It's gonna take a week to get rid of this water. So yeah, plant products have been fantastic for me.

It’s also water weight, sugar and many carbs make your body retain more water for longer time that’s why you look more puffy and gain weight in a couple of days. Eating like that for months/years and you will be in a metabolical syndrome state meaning chances of develop diabetes typ 2 or insulin resistant (prediabetic) in combination with high blood pressure, overweight and bad total cholesterol are much more higher. That’s why minimal intake of carbs and sugar and an active life can prevent you from all that.

I have a bachelor's of science in botany (I triple majored in botany, zoology, and chemistry). I also have a master's of public health in environmental management, what environmental management entails is how we affect the environment and, in turn, how the environment affects us, it can be a vicious downgrading health cycle for both animals (i.e. humans) and the environment. There are WAY more toxins in plants than we are aware of, more than we can detect and are continually discovering more and more. Any benefits that "edible" plants could possibly give us by consuming them are negated by their numerous harms. Many plants will kill the consumer acutely, all the others will kill us chronically. That physician is wrong! He is totally ignorant of the plant' s dangers to human health. Plants are not for human consumption if you wish to be healthy, so just eat meat based foods for optimal health.

Are there any low sugar fruits that a healthy carnivore can occasionally consume without worry? In addition, perhaps fatty fruits like Avocado's and Olives? Or do they have toxins as well.

    • @a.edwards8318
      @a.edwards8318 Рік тому

@@Metranger-xd4bt They (any plant) are all with worry! Here is a short snippet of info on both avocados and olives for you to ponder before consuming either.
      Avocado
Avocados contain Persin, which is a fungicidal toxin present in the avocado flesh. Persin is an oil-soluble compound, it leaches into the body of the fruit from the seeds. The avocado plant (weather it be bark, leaves, skin, flesh, or pit) has been shown to be poisonous to animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, cows, goats, horses, birds, pigs, rats, sheep, turkeys, chickens, fish, and ostriches, just to name a few). Symptoms include myocardial tissue damage, acute respiratory syndrome (asphyxia), cardial arrhythmia, submandibular edema, necrosis of myocardial fibres, and death. More research is needed on the toxicity to humans. Human research to date has been in-vitro for ethical reasons. So far, the in vitro research suggests avocado might be genotoxic to human blood cells. Genotoxins have the ability to damage DNA which kill cells and/or mutate them. BTW, cancer is caused by mutations to the DNA.
      Olives
Olives, in their unprocessed state, are extraordinarily bitter! (This is a clear warning “danger! Don’t eat me”) Over the millennia, humans have developed processes to make these fruits more palatable. These processes include, but are not limited to, brining/salting, fermentation, alkaline oxidation, and acidification. What makes olives so darn bitter is a glucoside compound called oleuropein. These processes try to decrease the bitterness of oleuropein. Olives, depending of the processes used can contain any of the following: Biogenic Amines (Putrescine, Cadaverine, Tyramine); Mycotoxins (Ochratoxin, Citrinin, Aflatoxin B); Pathogenic Bacteria (Listeria Monocytogenes, Staphylococcus sp., Coliforms, Yersinia, Escherichia coli, Clostridium). Modern processing of California style olives promotes the formation of toxic acrylamide in the olives. Acrylamide is a neurotoxin, reproductive toxin, and potential carcinogen.
You can choose to consume these if you are so desired to. I, however, avoid them.

Throughout all this I've had many food intolerances, gut inflammation, aching joints, and severe brain fog and my strength, energy and focus has continued to decline. I blamed it all on menopause.
I was a purist at one point, telling people that plant-based was better for their health. The engineering around this is huge - "we've got to be kind to the animals, we have to give them all long happy lives, eat your five a day, fresh fruit and vegetables are so good for you..." Even looking up the melting points of plant and animal fats had me pondering what was true.

And to be honest, nutrition is not my speciality so I forgive myself for being easily fooled. So yes, we absolutely do need to be kind to the animals - give them excellent nutrition and a natural environment, top-class regenerative farming, treat them well, and slaughter them in the least stressful way whilst giving thanks for the life they've given up to be on our plates.

Here's 2 more, hubby (68) got RA last year, went from hand digging trenches to can't get his t-shirt on or off and needed help to stand up, couldn't twist the lid of a milk bottle for 5 months, all because of the autoimmunity response to vegetarian diet I believe now.
Dr's answer (a "specialist we had to wait 3 months to see cause of how many people are sick) was cortisone and mild dose chemotherapy drugs, ahhh no thanks!!
I researched for a month, came across carnivore, and Dr Chaffee THANK YOU, 🙏
6 months later he's 100% healed, no RA, no Autoimmune disease response in his body, inflamitory markers down from 65 to 2 😅 (anything over5 is considered high)
Dr said wow the chemotherapy is really working then, Hub said oh I didn't touch that, Dr: confused, well what did you do?

I'm eating just meat now and my belly is getting smaller. Thank God. I'm so happy now. Thank you for sharing the carnivore diet. It saved me.

Brilliant response to the little man with the big attitude. I've only ever seen him a few times before & he has always presented as that little upstart at school who thought he was it & a bit because mummy or daddy were 'someone important' & that then made them important. I just found your channel recently after looking at carnivore diet videos & I must say that I'm impressed with your presentation of the history, the science & the results based facts on the benefits of this lifestyle. So much so that I'm now jumping on board with this straight away. I used to eat a mainly carnivore based diet when I was growing up & living at home now that I think back. It was once I moved out & began life as an independent adult that I adjusted my diet to be inline with the 'well balanced' SAD which was being strongly pushed here in Australia in the 1990s. Especially by my then girlfriend who was always saying that she didn't want to plan a life with someone who was hellbent on having a heart attack. It wasn't until I recently watched your videos (& others like yours from people like Ken D Berry) that I realised that my change in dietary intake pretty much aligned to the same time as when I began to experience autoimmune disease like psoriasis & IBS. & when I also went from being a young, strong, athletic buck with boundless energy & great vigour & strength to a far weakened & much more lethargic version of that person. The most remarkable & sudden drop off in strength & condition though, has been recently when I got suckered into trying to become vegetarian. I just thought that it was because I was hitting my 50's & this was the ageing process. Could possibly still be that? I can only pray that I can undo some of that damage & restore myself somewhat (30 years later) by switching back to the diet that was what I pretty much grew up with & what I now know to be the diet I should always have been on. Thank you so much for the work that you are doing. BTW, if you ever operate in Melbourne hospitals I might actually get to meet you. I work in theatre here. Looking forward to catching you in the next video I watch.

About 10 years ago, I started eating a lot of greens and veg as I thought it would improve my overall health. I agree with you. Thought veggies were good for me and ate the organic "healthy" ones as I was misled to believe along with healthy meats and fats, but could not get well! When I finally came to these sites and saw carnivore, I thought it was extreme. I had a bit of cognitive dissonance at first. How could everything I have learned from childhood to now be wrong?!
But thankfully, I am a critical thinker and knew that something was causing my issues and it was clear to me that plants DO have anti nutrients to protect themselves. Hardcore plant eaters believe you can get all the toxins out with soaking and cooking. They also think you can get all your nutrients from plants. When I went all plant base years ago, I was the sickest I had ever been in my life! After adding back in animal products, I got better. I took out some plants like grains and nightshades years later. Got better but not all the way. So when I saw carnivore way of eating, I think internally it seemed logical but I still wanted to think the vitamins and nutrients in some plants were necessary to life.
But, the inflammation and pain still nagged me. I finally decided the only way to find out if what these wacky carnivores were saying is true is to go 100% all in.
I am in, but it is going a bit bumpy. I am having a bit of oxalate detox and having to watch electrolytes. But overall, everything is getting better and I am having less and less inflammation and pain. 🎉👍🏻 57 by birth, 47 by health!! 😉

one fact that everyone should know, is many common foods we eat were known to be poison, so the equivalent of selective breeding took place, example, 10 poor saps were chosen to eat the plant, 8 died, one almost died and one not so bad. the seeds were taken from the survivors, whose seed was assumed to be less poisonous, not that they had iron stomachs. when these less toxic plants were mature, another 10 people were chosen, one died, six were really sick, and four not so bad. and so on, until eating the plant no one was sick. even today, soy beans, olives, etc., have to be 'marinated' for days before they are 'edible', let alone palatable. Also, humans cannot eat raw plants with fiber, bans, etc., took the invention of fire and being cooked before we can digest them, along with farting. Finally, sugar causes high levels of bad cholesterol. And why do cows need to eat 24/7, while lions eat once a week?

I always liked meat, as a child I didn't like fatty meat but loved lean meat. Always I was patronized about it. Gout was the boogey man, here they call it Kings disease and people think its caused by eating too much meat and drinking too much alcohol. Going carnivore is like a dream come true. I am not overweight (never was), don't have any conditions, healthy as a bull. Don't drink, don't smoke, never the less I was eating 100g (measured when raw) of white rise with half a kilo of pork meat and a few veggies every day. I couldn't sleep, I was falling asleep in the chair, the moment I lay down I can not fall asleep, soon as I went carnivore I started sleeping like a baby. Energy is better, over all I have only positives to say about it. Recently I had some blood work, my ldl is a little high (by the standarts) 4.31mmol/l but I am not concerned.

I have to say, that Dr. Anthony Chaffee's channel has been the best resource for me to learn about the carnivore diet and why it works. Thank you for taking the time to do your research and to link to the documentation that you mention in your videos.

One of the best rebuttals I've seen. Its good to see response videos or even debates because it prevents ideas from just being in an echo chamber, which can sometimes happen in the meat based community. Would be cool if you did some videos or podcasts with people outside the community, Layne Norton coming to mind😉

    Full support.
Myself and my kids we don’t eat plants. When some of them grab some, they might have allergies. Only meat and eggs make them grow stronger and feel happy.
Plants give us oxygen and a myriad of other good things. But we don’t need to eat ‘em

I am an amateur botanist and love plants. Maybe that is a reason I am reluctant to eat them! Here in Miami we have the most toxic plants on earth. In my own yard I have a tree so toxic it can kill you without even touching it! Some plants can be powerful medicine for acute conditions, but imagine eating harmful toxins over and over. No one pours sand in your engine or hydraulic system and expects it to perform better. What I want to see is you debunking supposed raw vegans like the "Shane Sterling" guy who insists that ground up toxic plants make you younger. My rule has been do not eat roots, stems, leaves and seeds.

And if you have metabolic issues, you have to be extremely careful with fruits. People that are very fit can introduce a few fruits

Four large prospective studies have recently reported on the associations of fruit and vegetable consumption with overall cancer risk. These results for all cancers provide some indication of potential public health impact, but need to be interpreted cautiously because they may be influenced by chance and confounding at cancer sites not thought to be linked to fruit and vegetable intake. There was no significant association of either fruit or vegetables with total cancer risk in the combined analysis of two Harvard cohorts (the Nurses' Health Study and the Health Professionals' Follow-up Study) or in the Japan Public Health Center-Based Prospective Study. In the EPIC study conducted in 10 European countries, there was a small but statistically significant reduction in total cancer risk associated with high consumption of both fruit and vegetables, which was largely due to associations with cancer sites caused by smoking and/or alcohol. In the NIH-AARP study, fruit was not significantly associated with cancer risk in men or women, and vegetables were not associated with risk in women; vegetables were inversely associated with cancer risk in men, but this association was not evident in an analysis restricted to never smokers. Together, these analyses of fruit and vegetables in relation to overall cancer risk indicate that there is little, if any, association except in relation to cancers caused by smoking and alcohol, and these associations might be due to residual confounding by these factors.

I just started my carnivore journey. Your videos helped me out alot. I do have one question though. Can the carnivore diet reverse my grey hairs? And if so, how does it reverse it?

Thank you! Maybe a little, but they would need to fall out and regrow with pigmentation. It may not though, it depends on the health of your hairs when you started, but it can slow the rest of it going grey from here

I have read a comment from one carnivore that her gray hairs now have dark roots! So once those dark roots get long enough, she will be able to cut off the gray ends!
