  • How to Build a Custom Cedar Rifle Rack - Full Process DIY
    In this video we built a custom Rifle Rack out of some Cedar picked up at a local Home Depot. This started off as just a really cool idea, which evolved over a few months into what ended up being a pretty amazing piece!! ALSO - if you happen to be watching this prior to Oct 10th 2019, we are GIVING THIS AWAY!! Head over to my Instagram to enter the contest / for more details!! If you try to build this yourself, be sure to reach out to me and let me know how your build goes and what I could have tried to do differently.

    Instead of putting the screws in the side I would have glued the sides and back and put more screws in the back it would not be as visible unless they were looking at you brand

    I know this is an older video... but pre drilling holes to countersink takes time but its so much better or putting tape on the wood so it doesn't "chew." Also a tip when doing the trim, instead of nails you could put a few wooden dowels in, let them dry and cap them with your casing... would hide the dowel- great job!

      Thanks!! It worked pretty well, I wish I had been able to use a drill press and had a more precise bit-to-shell sizing, but for totally winging it I really liked the end result. Good luck on your build!

      @@TheToughGuysTV I need one, and don't want to spend $400 on it so I plan on building one. Thank you for the great ideas. What would you have done differently?

    • @TheToughGuysTV
      @TheToughGuysTV  4 роки тому

      I would have used a harder wood for sure - even Pine over Cedar. Cedar was great for the overall weight but man.. it was tough to keep it from splitting. I had a heck of time drilling those holes and keeping it all together. Also, would have made it a little taller, and probably more “rustic” looking - maybe distressed finish a bit more.

      No problem man happy that it will help you!! One recommendation would be to use a harder wood - something NOT cedar 😂😂 it damages so easily and splits easily as well. It does keep it light, mine ended up only weighing 27 lbs total. Good luck and keep me posted if you build it!

    The pocket screws makes it look like shit. The bullet trim is bad ass but pocket screws ruin projects, especially if can be seen. Inside looks like Swiss cheese with the pocket screws.
