Exploring Japanese Tunnels
Вставка

- Deep in the mountains of Japan there is an area filled with semi-abandoned tunnels and stations. Still in use, but seeing few passengers and even fewer staff. Took the Shamisen girls (ki&ki) out to do some exploring and make a music video.

Which was your favorite hidden tunnel?
Let me know in the comments!
Glad to be back doing adventures!! The music video we made is linked in the description!!
And yes... doing a secret giveaway to a random commenter on this video too!!!
I’ve got to seen them in person before I pick a favorite. lol
I'm going to say the first one ... Just because of the steps with the second tunnel which would trigger my vertigo badly.
Great video. Great music and Kiki looked great in their performance regalia
Like Last time..... would love to have a drone shot in the Tunnel....... You need to go back again...
Cheers. Mark🇦🇺
I ♥ echo o o o o o o o o
Very cool! Where is it exactly? Maybe a good spot to check out next time I'm in Japan!
Japan's underground music scene! :)
LOL this 100% wins comment of the day 😂
Brilliant!
The ladies look just a little over-dressed for 3 am in a rural train station tunnel!
Good on you for seeking out natural reverb. It always has a different feel from electronic reverb.
The contrast between the beautiful kimono worn by Ki&Ki and the grungy tunnels is wonderful.
I love how the mist was hanging over the mountains when you first got to Doai station.
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Thank you (once again) for taking us along for the ride.
Haha overdressed might be a bit of an understatement lol
When I'll eventually come to Japan I really want to go to the Doai station alone, just to experience all its eeriness
It’s definitely worth it
And now there’s a bit of a treasure hunt 😉
@@TokyoLens I also like spiders so it's a win-win for me lol
Seriously! It must be sooooo amazing!
Norm (talking about camera lighting): "anyways it's all boring stuff."
Me (actually interested): "no tell me!"
Hahahaha I run the danger of going on forever with the camera stuff lol
I believe that norm. Lol
Mogu Cafe is open sometimes 😁, at least it was open when I stopped at the station in February 👍. Good thing for tourists as you can have a drink while waiting for the next train.
that's so cool!! Did not know that~
I guess I just need to keep going back lol
There's something weirdly melancholy about a cafe that's never open...
The acoustics in that tunnel were insane! Such a great video. Definitely need to spend more time exploring my city at 5AM
I like their kimonos! I remember when you went to Doai almost a year ago. The Yubiso tunnel is so green
Yubiso was also great and amazingly just down the road!
Damn this was an awesome trip!
Those stations really are something special, I could feel the vibration and echo in the walls, just breathtaking!
The only thing I didn't like (still creeping me out as I watch) were the damn spiders... The stairs were a nice challenge xD
Can't thank you enough for bringing me along, don't know if I'd ever be able to go out there on my own, I'm so glad I got to visit these places and get out of the house a little! :D
Honestly glad to have you there!!
A great time was had indeed!!
Really happy you enjoyed it that much
I liked the extra ability for someone to film Norm as he set up the camera and lights. It adds a lot to the video. Plus I am sure some other bits were done by you too. Just love it!
Were they those HUGE spiders lmao ✨
There is something incredibly creepy and mesmeririzing when you see these abandoned, but still very active, stations...The photo opportunities must be never ending and I wish I was there lol
I played back the performance on my 4k tv and it really looked amazing. The higher bitrate I got from the 5k upload really made me appreciate the beauty of kiki's kimonos so much more! (btw, referring to the video uploaded to the shamisen in tokyo channel )
As cool as those tunnels are, that Shamisen beat at 2:30 was so good
Wow was hoping that you would return here! Love the performance!
Almost want to make it a yearly trip lol
Gah, I absolutely loved this station when you came here last with Victor. Glad you made a return trip. I'm trying to imagine stepping off the train down in the depths of the station only to be greeted by the sounds of shamisen floating down the stairs to you. Sounds like a start to a grand adventure.
hahaha we were actually recording a song in Doai when the first train went through
low-key hoped that someone would get off the train haha
I don’t think I could ever get tired of these train tunnels. And KiKi! This made my night!
Great video Guys ! I recieved and watched both of them ! So ... Super production ! Well worth your efforts ! Arigato honto ni!🇩🇪 🇨🇦🤗🇯🇵
I hope those train guys got onto a train and then took one back there, with a nice hike in between. That would be an awesome day!
Hope so too!!
Man, I remember the first time you explored this empty abandoned tunnels with vic. Walking down the steps by yourself looks really scary if there was no light !!!
Hello Norm, I'm coming from Sharla's channel !
Thank you for this wonderful clip. I think you are a good explorer able to find amazing places like these unbelievable tunnels, as well as a very weird vending machines area or a nice dagashi--bar.
This reminds me of Route 41, 471 and 158 going from Toyama to Matsumoto, which include some narrow and dark tunnels, one bridge over a big dam, where I happened to drive at midnight. If you drive through these roads in a clear sunny day, it should be so nice : ) If you do at midnight like me, just be careful !
That echo is just insane! Love this. Looks like Kiki was having fun as well. Really creative.
Such a cool train station. The background seem almost unreal. So curious of the little treasure, but I think those stairs keep my curiosity at bay. Will leave this one as one of those forever mysteries
Wooooow.
Freakin’ sweet, Norm. Another middle-of-nowhere station to check out ASAP. This is a great video (and the music video is as well). These off-the-beaten-path places and spaces are why I started following you years ago.
I’m looking forward to my next trip, and possibly visiting these spots, more and more. 👍
That place never stops amaze me, perfect to make all kinds of themed videos/movies.
Maybe the next spot for Doctor Genki? 😂
Ki$Ki and shamisen always makes my day, thank you Norm!
Thanks so much eh!
Really appreciate that you took the time to watch and comment on both~
@@TokyoLens Since I havet starter working I havet less time and energy to interact with you 😞
But I still do enjoy the videos and photos.
But the Patreon backlog is mighty ha ha.
Hahaha yea quite the backlog
If you set aside the At Home Show episodes of reels a little more manageable lol
Such a good video! Really enjoyed, Sounded really good! Those train stations seem so creepy, yet interesting at the same time!
Also ick! spiders thank you for not showing above you while walking down the hallway that giant one was enough *shudders*
Oh my gosh, I just love videos featuring ki ki!!
I'm excited to here the how it all came out. Especially the little at the end you showed us.
The full video is linked at the end and in the description!!
Their kimonos are beautiful 🌸
This is what is so great about UA-cam. There is just starting here in Australia a online Japanese film festival, and one of the movies is Ito (2021) I had a look at what it about, it mentioned a shamisen. Wondering what it was, looked up wiki, then did a search for it and found the Shamisen girls (ki&ki) then this channel. They are great!
I liked every part of it! It gives the mystery, thriller crime anime vibe!😍
Thanks for another amazing video of unexpected places at unexpected times (3 AM!) in Tokyo! Loved it. More. More.
pretty ladies they look so good in their outfits and that was an awesome video loved the sound
Can't wait for my trip over there, will for sure have to hit this place up
thank you norm! i smiled all the way! the place the girls everything was super nice. even the spiders. thanks again guys. take care.
I really enjoyed this video Norm. Keep up the great work and God bless.
I adore seeing these cool places you find. I’d literally never hear of, or see them on my own and experiencing them from your perspective is so cool.
Also, love seeing Doai again 😍
Amazing start to finish. so many great memories made and recorded to enjoy and share 💖
watched ✈🇯🇵💗💗💗💗
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Been waiting for this video ever since I saw posts on Instagram. Glad to see another upload, hope you are well!
Doing great! Hope you're good!!
Amazing, fantastic, 10/10 would watch again
maaan i have been following your channel since you just had 5k subscribers. i am so glad that ur channel has progressed so much. i am glad Sharla introduced us to you. i like doing videography and photography as a hobby and i liked that you showed us your equipment. wish you could someday do a video on your editing skills too
So early! So creepy, but the visuals are stunning! Small unique spots is your thing Norm! Gotta love it...
That was great spot to play there!!! I do remember that year ago u went there last Norm!!! 👍
Trains, creepy tunnels AND spiders?? I'm convinced, this place goes onto my bucketlist.
They explore with such wonder!
A video I could only expect on this channel! I remember when you went there with Viktor, the location gives off such interesting vibe! Kind of eerie!😆 ki&ki are simply amazing!👏🏼 Big NO to the spiders though! haha
“Wow!” 😆
the echo is amazing wow , nice to see the station again i liked the video you made with victor :)
This station is so trippy. This is exactly why I wanna be in the countryside, man! Just can't get this kinda stuff in Yokohama. I'll get out there soon enough
Hey it's my first time being early in a while, I love these exploration kind of videos btw, it's so fun to find all these secret spots and have you show us around.
Notification squad for the absolute win!!
Ha, I watched this (the "behind the scenes") before the actual music video. Fun to have all the background info first! Love this stuff, and the video itself is fabulous. Keep up the good work~
Thanks so much!! Definitely a fun one to make
Yay, an outside adventure! Stay safe Norm!
There’s something so eery yet beautiful about the tunnels, I think it could be the echoing haha! Definitely something I’ll have to try when I next get to visit Japan 🧡 Also I don’t think I could ever tire from hearing the beautiful Shamisen. Great work from everyone involved! 💪
Thanks so much~!
That shamisen play was amazing ❤
Didn't finish the video yet, but so far they look amazing
seeing doai again made me want to go even more!! it feels like one of those places where if you went alone you would have a paranormal experience but no one would believe you after 🤣
And now there’s a bit of a treasure hunt to do 😉
NOTIFICATION SQUAD! Great video :D love seeing it when you talk about camera gear XD love nerding out about that stuff
Hyeeaaahh always happy to hear from the notification squad!!
Wow indeed!
Fantastic locations for a music video. May I suggest you do a video on the roof tops of Japan 😷 ♥ 🇯🇵
Great content as always !
Thanks mate~
Wow this video is so awesome in every way! The content, film, sound, and the atmosphere is just perfect 👌 I hope you are very proud of this one! Also, I think I spotted an Easter egg 🕵️♀️ Now I’m going to watch the Kiki video
YASSSS another video to make my morning so much better :D
It’s actually a 2 for 1 😉
I want to go to the long tunnel and yell "yeahhh boiiiiii" and let it echo throughout the abyss
Hahaha dooo iiittttt
Oh my god. This is so cool!
It’s so nice to see you back on the road!
Both stations are so fascinating but if I’d pick one I’d say Doai. I think I wanna see the spider😂
This was so cool! I remember the first time you went there! Also I believe that spider covered roof is what nightmares are made from 😮😂
Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Chelsea! Thank you so much
hahaha there is a reason that I didn't show all the spiders on the ceiling haha
I love those kimonos. I watched the video for the song earlier. I wonder what difference not having the echo would make.
Loved this station when you came there with Victor. Glad to see it back again once more. :D Definitely in my to do list in case I someday make it to Japan (its been on the list for ages, but somehow...never got around to it. Yet.)
Heading over to the music video now, curious for the end result. :D
I would like to visit there but I’m scared of spiders so thank you for bringing us along! I really enjoyed the cinematic shots you took with victor in your former video too. It really is a cool location for a music video. Those stairs must be hell walk with the geta though haha.
Random youtuber musician: wait gonna record in my bathroom for that delicious ~reverb
Norm: hold my Strong Zero, BRB.
Great video as always. The fogged-up shots near the end was gorgeous, hope the camera is weathersealed though
lol thats the best part... the camera... isnt! lol
but we had a great time either way
Thanks!!
@@TokyoLens hoboy, hope the gear is ok.
What would happen if the music video was recorded with a stereo mic (or two mics, one on each side) for this really large, mind-blowing soundstage? Then maybe a mic pointing up or further down the tunnel for even more reverb. Might be fun eh?
Lol it’s actually close to what we did
There were a total of 3 mic’s recoding this
2 of which were fully manual stereo recorders!
Love it...
Those instruments are so cool. wish I could learn how to play them.
I found this channel very interesting and definitely fun to watch I’m still trying to sit relax and watch the content, but it’s so many beautiful videos that I can’t decide which video I will play 😅 also the girls are so talented and so amazingly beautiful I wonder if they are taken just curious.... 😆 thank you so much for your great videos! Thumbs up!
Always wanted to visit Doai Station ever since I saw it in Yama no Susume.
Watching Adventure. Wow.
Damn I need to go these tunnel stations 😲
Wait, these stations under JR line too 😲
If I knew these stations during my last trip to Japan, I will use my JR pass to the fullest more & more 😆
Kiki presences with their shamisen performance make these tunnel light up more 😆
At 2:32 that is the perfect opening for a hard rock song. I can hear the shamisen playing two repetitions of that riff, followed by heavy guitars playing the same riff. Just need to come up with some lyrics....
wow cool video and awesome music and abandoned tunnels :)
Cheers eh!!
Norm you always find the coolest spots
Oooohhh, those spiders are huge, nope, not a spider fan. The girls did a great job with their music in the linked video. You find such great places for their videos Norm, you such a wonderful job! Great video :D
Hahaha yea nobody was a huge fan of the spiders lol
Glad you enjoyed the vid!!
Beautiful, all of it
This is awesome!
We definitely had fun!
Oh man, those stairs tho XD I think Connor and Chris went there recently, it's a crazy station! But the second one, with the like.. lookout nook? So Cool!
Thanks for the new locations to explore next time we go! (if we are ever allowed to go again. Hoping aus-japan will be allowed late this year, early next year)
Fingers crossed eh!!
TOKYO L engraving ;)
How did you find that nice tunnel. Enjoying your videos very much. Keep up the good work!! Love from Tokyo👍👍❤️
Awesome video! From your first video here I saved this location in google maps to take a look on my next trip to Japan! I wanna sign the book as well! : )
Can’t wait till you get to go there!!
Awesome brother, seeing KiKi in action again. I definitely have to see the tunnels in person.
Thanks so much mate!
@@TokyoLens anytime brother
wowwww wish I could have been there in person to hear this. High quality recording! Greetings from NY.
Cheers eh!! This really was a treat for the ears in person~
My trip in April was canceled, but I still want to go to both stations now.
ahhh ive really wanted to go to doai since the first video.
whenever i go back to japan again im totally going!
gotta find that secret you left lol
Really cool video :)
Makes me wonder if Norm left a handprint for the next unsuspecting visitors down there on a window ;D
Great behind the scenes video!
lol no
but I did leave a handfull of easter eggs and presents for ppl who go and visit to find!
@@TokyoLens haha that's much better I think! Sweet surprise then
My favourite tunnel? Doai Station for sure! I want to challenge myself with those stairs 😆
I wonder if you left there one of your secret stickers... 🤔
Woo! Good job buddy 😁
hey man~!
I was wondering how you setup the lighting in the tunnel...so cool! Music video looked and sounded amazing! Tunnels seem to be a gift that keeps on giving haha
Hahaha yea the lifting was kinda key for this one! We had fun with it~
Ah! Best reactions ever!
Hahaha yea they really enjoyed it
よば new Japanese word of the day - crazy (when they saw the stairs)
I'd love to try recording some classical guitar down there. The sound of natural reverb is something special.
was perfect!
Being from Australia i"am thinking a Didgeridoo would be quite an eerie experience
9:57 Norm : I never get tired of this
Norm’s Legs : }#%^% Off!
I liked the first tunnel better. The second tunnel reminded me of those abandoned building pictures you see on the internet.
It was a lot of fun coming across Yubiso station! Can't believe that Victor and I missed it last time!
Doai definitely takes the cake in my books, although......these 2 tunnels are definitely on my to-go list when Japan re-opens their borders to foreign travellers~!
How long did it take you to climb those stairs anyways??
love, love, love. All that boring camera and sound stuff, lol. Please, tell me more. Are you using battery, or somehow powering off the stations? I think I will rent a car, take a chance, and go out and explore some of these less traveled stations on a future trip. They are full of mystery and magic. Plus, I've got to find the hidden treasure ;)
I saw those stairs and thought that Sam Pilgrim would like to ride down those for sure.
