      Aaron McDonald Of course he says no comment on the iPad. He would look weird working for Microsoft and same time say that iPad rules the World. Microsoft is dying company for losers. Their phones sucks and won't sell, Surface RT was a failure and Surface PRO won't sell at all. Windows 8 was a failure and PC's won't sell because of that. Xbox One is a failure what don't sell. Takes 10 years and nobody uses Microsoft products. Google, Apple, Steam and other makers rules the future.

      When we do those things, we break God's laws, and because of that God gives us the punishment of hell!

    The interviewers are coming at Gates with borderline stupid questions......of course he isn't going to entertain them, he wouldn't stoop so low.

    • @codyroth9387
      @codyroth9387 7 років тому +4

      exactly what you just said: the question makes a fundamentally wrong assumption. It is loaded, and a man of such intellect knows better than to enter a game void of logic.

    • @codyroth9387
      @codyroth9387 7 років тому +7

      The interview consists of basically 2 questions. I will give you my interpretation of what Bill is doing in response to each of the 2 questions, and why I think each of the questions are rather "rigged" or foolish questions: question 1: "...what do you think of the iPad - is Microsoft going to start/stop catching up to Apple in this [area of tablet like computers]?" Bill is annoyed with the question, he gives a hasty response so as to end any potential discussion that could arise out of his response. This makes sense because the question makes an intrinsic assertion that Microsoft is working in relation to Apple, i.e. trying to keep up/stay ahead of them. Forcing the idea of comparison is a method of reducing responses to a close ended question, in which either response can be used against him. Bill can recognize such meager tact and simply ends all discussion by asserting that Microsoft has been ahead the whole time in all aspects. Even though he himself knows the response isn't even per se true, it is a response that maximizes brevity in discussion of the response. question 2: "have you ever fooled around with an iPad......what do you think/did you think of it?" Again a question trying to affect a notion of binary response from Bill. essentially his response would either have to be along the lines of "well I used it and [feature X | design idea Y | functionality Z, etc. etc.] were impressive/noteworthy/of decent use/somewhat remarkable, albeit it [subtle counterpoint] (or vice versa)" OR "I haven't used an iPad." Each response is exploitable, which is why the question is contrived to do so. If Bill HAS used an iPad, the interviewer can further question him with things such as "so why did you try the iPad? to gauge the prowess of Apple's tablets? curiosity? because you are concerned it is better than Microsoft?" - nonsensical further questioning only trying to trap Bill into a corner where he must divulge some statement gratifying Apple. If he instead answers that he HASN'T used an iPad, the interview could exploit this and further question him with things such as "why haven't you tried the iPad? are you worried it might be better than you think? do you view it as a baseline for Microsoft products? wouldn't it serve as a good reference point for where Apple is technologically?" - again nonsensical questions where they are trying to corner Mr. Gates into some low level interrogation trap. Obviously, I cannot know the true intent of the interviewer or that my explanations are 100% accounting for what is happening, but the basic points I am trying to get across is that intelligent people like Bill Gates will not stoop down to low level interviewing AND some particular reasons why this is evidently low level interviewing occurring and why Bill is justified in his reactions. If you would like clarification on any of the points or statements I made please let me know and I will try to reiterate what I was saying in case it wasn't clear in my initial explanation.

      Well, if the iPad was really such a bad product at that time, he would have all the confidence to criticize it (like Jobs would have done many times about Windows Tablets before the iPad). Having a non-response like that, actually already gave the interviewer what they want.
      IMO, Bill should have spoke his mind, he would look stronger and classier on hind-sight.

    • @bobalobalie
      @bobalobalie 9 років тому +2

      No matter what anyone else says. This guy is right. Not only did they provide the first software. Bill Gate's $100 million dollar investment into Apple back in the late 90's when Apple was about to go bankrupt saved the company. Apple was literally done for as a company. Insolvency was around the corner until Steve called Bill for the financial help. Which Bill gave to Apple maybe as a friend or as some would say to prevent Microsoft from becoming a monopoly. I think it was a little bit of both as to why Bill lended the money to Apple. As well Bill and Microsoft agreed to make a MacOS version of Microsoft Office. Which also helped Apple to rebuild in those early years when Steve returned to Apple. So it is absolutely true in many ways to include lending money that Apple would not exist without Bill Gates and Microsoft. Now Apple has greatly improved as a company and surpassed Microsoft in value. I do not think this bothers Bill or that Steve would have been smug about it to him if he was still alive. I think they had an interesting friendship. One we will never know what was truly about since they were/are both private about it. Bill was one of the few to be invited to Steve's funeral. So obviously they were close.
      I know this and am fine with it. Since it is true. Even though I am typing this on my MacBook Pro Retina. Facts are facts and what this man said is a fact.

Both Bill gates and Steve Jobs got annoyed with this guy and From that moment on Steve decided to make the iPad. Because the engineer was claiming that using a full OS on a single touch touchscreen with the help of a stylus would be the future, Steve Jobs that the opposite approach would be the better solution. Judging by its massive success, he was right.

      Garry S lol who would be the hero and who would be the villain? i feel like both computers have advantages over eachother in individual areas, thus separating the markets for these products to fit the demands of different groups. You have gamers who won't even look at a macbook, PC all the way for them, then you have college students who seem to all use macs (or at least asignificant majority of them), but then you have programmers and designers who need more processing power than any mac can provide to run their 3d modeling programs or what have you, so PCs definitely take the cake in that realm... so my point would be that there is not a clear number one and number two when it comes to Mac vs PC, their individual appeal differs based on who you talk to. I personally love the interface of macs, and the accessibility, but then I love that I can run my games on a nice PC desktop, you look at the way each machine was put together and each one can do things the other can't and what i think caused that is both companies realized that their rivals were designing comps in such different ways with two different philosophies that they each got so good at making their own products that eventually both companies realized what I mentioned earlier which is both products are wildly popular but they each have their own consumer base due to the Mac and the PC simply being two different machines, so at that point it just became the more feasible option money-wise for both companies to market to their own consumer bases. Each company pioneered their own style of home computer with each its own unique identity and functionality, and because of such dominance each company had on these two different niches in the computer industry, any attempt from either company to directly "outclass" their rival by for example, if apple started producing macs with high power gaming engines and graphics to compete with the PC's processing power and they marketed it as such, would result in a huge flop due in part because macintosh users are not gamers, and because of the distrust all of the gamers looking into this new mac gaming computer. PC's have always gotten the job done for them, and Mac's aren't even known for their processing capabilities. so as you can see both companies have been pretty smart about just marketing what they're known for and what PC's and Mac's alike are recognized for, and both companies seem to be doing ok from that. I think a better analogy for pc vs mac is Superman vs Batman, they both have their strengths and weaknesses but what they do well at they are the best and theres no disputing that.

      Anyways, I'm saying the majority of people want a hero and a villain, in other words, they want to "pick sides" of something, just like a sports team they cling to while bashing all other opponents in the league.
      When marketing starts to make it about PC vs Mac (or anything vs anything, like cell phones, tablets, etc), then the majority of people will follow suit.
      Those in the minority, those who think logically, will pick his/her device according to what the circumstances demand (gaming, development, video editing, etc.), within their budgets and after weighing the pro's and con's accordingly.

Windows has run pretty much any interactive touch screen you've used in the last 15 years, and continues to be used as a major embedded OS, although Linux is picking up some slack now. Windows has been running on tablets for years before the ipad came along. Really, the technology didn't exist until about the time the ipad came out. Previously it was basically not possible to make a high powered capacitive touch screen device.

The whole concept was not well thought out. Since it ran desktop windows, it was slow and the whole interface was not meant for touch. It does not matter how fancy your technology is, if it is a pain the ass to use.

      completely agreeable. The one thing I was trying to tackle was that people believe that Steve Jobs actually came up with the idea and concept of the tablet which is not true. However, nor did Bill Gates create this idea. The actual abstraction and idea of the tablet had existed since the early 1980's. And if you want to go farther back, the concept was used in Star Trek TOS.

      Mezz I would like to see the proof of that, as I can't find any. Remember that H.S. teachers are people that couldn't get a better job than being a H.S. teacher. You can learn from them, but their word is not gospel. Later in life you'll learn that your teachers are good people, but no smarter than the average person (some university professors may be, but elem., middle, and high school teachers are just normal people). Gates and Jobs certainly knew each other, and perhaps "collaborated" and sold tech to each other (Jobs and Gates have often claimed that "Gates stole XXX from Apple!", "Jobs stole XXX from Microsoft!"), but I can find absolutely no evidence that Jobs worked for Gates, or that Gates worked for Jobs, OR that they both worked together at the same company/division prior to Apple/Microsoft. I know they both had some dealings with IBM, but not together. Remember Jobs was from Silicon Valley and started his company there. Gates was from Seattle and started his company there. So they didn't even live in the same state before starting their compaies. Both of these guys were pretty young when they had their successes. Jobs was selling Apple computers in his early 20s, just a few years after dropping out of University. Gates also dropped out to start Microsoft, so from what I can find, neither of them had a very long work history outside of the companies that they started (Gates started Windows, and Jobs started Apple, Pixar and Next (which became the Apple we know today)).
      When a T.V. movie and a H.S. teacher are your sources, it's sometimes good to check online and see if you can verify that. From what I've heard, and I was shocked when I heard it too. Sometimes the things that happen in movies are made up! I was totally shocked! Even if those characters are real, apparently the writers will ADD stuff to make the story more interesting.

    • @deckard2665
      @deckard2665 7 років тому

      +Mezz and + Peter R
      Steve Jobs and Bill Gates did not work together for the same company at anytime. They did however collaborate together with their respective companies many times. Steve Jobs grew up in Palo Alto California, met Steve Wozniak, worked for Atari Inc, and took a trip to India all just prior to creating Apple Computer with Steve Wozniak. Bill Gates was enrolled and studied at Harvard University and then dropped out to pursue (and correctly so) the beginning of the home computer revolution. He partnered with Paul Allen. All of this took place around the same time 1974 - 1976. That is just a small synopsis. There are plenty of books and films that get further into detail.

      Um, I took really good care of each version if Windows I’ve used, like 95, 98, XP, 7 and 10, but each of them finally just broke irrecoverably, only to end up Linux-based after all. - You can break a Linux-distro, but you can repair it. Not ao much with Windows, which cries about its booboos every little change you make, and if it fails to boot, it tends to be something that’s hard to solve, even with all the external tools you could throw at it.
      Windows is done. 11 isn’t helping and Microsoft’s practices aren’t either.

    I like his response. There's always gonna be a market for the rookie crap for those who aren't adult enough to use a desktop computer exclusively. Microsoft is now catering to the type of people who use Tablets/iPads with that Windows 8 piece of trash - but hey gotta stay with the demand.

    Haha oh man... all these people hating Apple products. If I had to guess, I would say that the vast majority of people who don't like Apple are gamers who want to install a huge graphics card in a cheap plastic tower with crappy internals so they can have fast frame rates, and that's it. Productive people who do other things than game and appreciate quality and craftsmanship like Apple products. Use a surface, and then an iPad; tell me which you honestly think is of better quality.

      Studying Engineering here, and all I can say is that there is no way I can use a mac/apple product. Lots of software that I'm required to have isn't available on apple. Furthermore server capabilities of both microsoft and linux are substantially higher than that of an apple product. Lastly you clearly have no clue as to building a pc. Graphics card is but a small piece to gaming, when really its mostly a sound combination of all important parts (Motheboard, CPU, GPU and memory).
      Good day sir

    • @adamisevesdesire
      @adamisevesdesire 10 років тому +3

      Alex Gilbert Software not available on the platform? bootcamp/parallels/vmware will solve your problem there. Server capabilities? Apple's products are designed for the average user's use, not a server. That being said, OSX is build on UNIX, so the possibilities are similar to Linux if you chose to do so. And of course, every factor contributes to a game's performance. However, most people I talk with that build gaming PCs typically have crap internals aside from their $500 graphics card. MOST, not all.

      Adam Morgan iPads are made for people that are too simple to use complex devices. You can hardly do anything to them without risking its destruction, the company recommends you buy a case that they sell for an additional outrageous fee, and they get no where near the power ratio you can get out of other machines, not to mention its always going to look dirty unless you clean it constantly being pure white. I've had to use both PC and Mac for many years throughout school and work and whatnot, and I think I speak for everyone when I say that Apple is better is name only. They are outclassed by nearly every other manufacturer.

    Gates has class and won't comment on a competitor's product. He does bring up the fact that MS has been the leader in all technology and he's not gloating..... just stating facts. It's absurd to think that Apple could possibly compare to MS in the overall marketing world. MS makes quality products at a price that the average (maybe below average too) wage earner can afford. Apple makes products that are quality too but the price that a consumer has to pay for their products is just too much considering you can get a product that will do the same thing that was produced by MS for a much lower price. I wonder why there are not more videos on the success of Bill Gates as there is with the success of Steve Jobs. Could it be media bias? One fact you will never be able to refute......Bill Gates is a hell of a lot better at business than Steve Jobs ever was...RIP Steve Jobs...I wish no one death.

      Bill Gates is like Henry Ford. Building and selling things that are affordable for everyone.
      There are more people who can't afford a 5000$ (!!!) computer than people who can.
      Also if you know how to use a PC with Windows then you're fine.
      I'm using Windows for over 8 years and I've never encountered a PC damaging glitch that could not be fixed.
      Apple based computers are not better, they're just simpler than windows.

      What are you talking about?
      Anti-Virus, Addons and defragmentation are all automated.
      You need 3rd party content in some way to use your computer.
      You've got 3rd party technology in your Apple, I'm pretty sure of that.
      Some sort of App or program 100% and maybe an external HD, or something else not by Apple.
      I'd rather choose every piece of hardware I need for my PC, and my OS of choice is Windows atm.
      Then I'll install everything I need for my PC and I'm done.
      My PC will be useful for me and it got everything it needs to be running excelent for 5 or 6 years, unless I find hardware to match new needs.

    Dear Ipad/Apple, this is not a rant, this is a human watching the world turn to shit, there are allot of people left disconnected from real means of communications, and I don't abuse google for the death of the yellowpages, I sincerely complain for the people who DO like to say hello whilst looking one in the eyes, in open air with the feel of the world, Now a father of 2 I fear the worst for my sons as they grow into digital millennia, These fears are all the out door experiences are now digital, even the cheap ol fishing trip is agame now, understandable that there is simulator for F1 drivers as there is Gran Turismo / Forza for the serious enthusiast (young or old) and YES these simulate real life teachings & methods, but no where is the element of danger and fear (also redefining the word keyboard warrior.... sadly...) they cant get a bandaid off siri nor will they learn to toughen up, THIS IS THE DIVISION OF MAN - the weak go digital, the practical go practical or both, I am smart enough and tough enough to see them apart, but the world outside will not go away, no matter what you download, and the world that wants to hold hands and jump off the falls into the ocean - they do not practice social disconnection, they preach life and what the outdoors entail. the world is becoming an antisocial place even with its online social networks, hell - im on here aint I??? - but more to the point, ur products make us bow down, with our face never facing forward, we are all glued to not manifesting imaginations or manipulating our visualisations, instead most just tap or swipe, and that's as exciting as their life can get. ALSO - the auto correcto feature? u made them dumber, now they just aim close to what they want to type and adopt correct spelllin, correct iSpelling.... amounting to even worse typing, spelling, poor grammar and bad accuracy. I am the new system, I am indoors and out, I am the allseeing eye, and you sir- are responsible for the fat, lazy and wicked. give them back their freedom, you have enough money to let some one else entertain them, thanks for your time, Iturra 1984 - the engineer, mechanic and destroyer.

    As a child, and I don't do it anymore, my parents cheated on each other. I didn't mean to tell on them. With Quincy or "Clancy," I liked him so much I pointed down the street happily and said to my grandparents, "That's where Clancy" lives. Mom doesn't "get" those kinds of things and my dad is a psychopath. Her parents thought it would help, but not with dad :( When you get a kid like that, you have to guide them more. I love Clancy. He is a great person, just beaten down from a young age, not much self-esteem, but he was always good to me. He loves his family.

      What you just said about the life span of Mac computers is ridiculous, I've had my Mac for 4 years, it's had one problem and I took it to apple and they fixed it even though it's 4 years old. My PC on the other hand died after less than a year, the same goes for my PC before that and the one before that. PC's are junk and when your out of warranty (1 year usually) they just tell you too piss off.
