My favorite part of this hobby is when a fountain pen and ink combination writes wet. There's something very satisfying about it, which I don't get from ballpoints or gel pens. And how odd that your Estie smells... I don't have one myself, but none of my others pens have a strong smell 😅
My favoirite part is taking notes/journaling, in short, using my pens. I have just one ink, black, but a variety of pens. I do not use a notebook but rather individual sheets. Love your videos
you’re not crazy(or at least, you’re not any crazier than the rest of us!): really like GvFC inks, I’ve got cobalt blue, midnight blue, carbon black, lapis lazuli, hazelnut brown and moss green which are all wonderful; my midnight blue is inked in my lovely Sailor pro gear EF in gold w rhodium highlights - one of my favourites; thanks for this:); like your Pilea:); juicy:)
I am so happy I found this video because I definitely thought I was going nuts regarding the smell. When I first got the pen (exact same model) it was great. But after giving the pen a good soak in warm water it started smelling pretty funky. In fact, it smells exactly like that fast drying glue you can get at the dollar store, a very unpleasant and chemical smell. However, I could find absolutely nothing online regarding Esties smelling weird.
Thank you so so much! It is really odd. Both my pens smell. so it can't be just one material... So interesting that only I seem to have this experience.
Oh so many parts. Ink pairings, custom nib grinds, journaling and poetry, new stuff 😁… old stuff.. collage.. UA-cam vids about pens and ink 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 My Esties don’t smell. I have heard how great this ink is. I love blue black inks, my current fav is Diamine Oxford Blue.
@@Sonicman415 ohhhhh these are a lot of cool parts. I‘m just getting into custom nib grinds. And I defined want to explore further. ☺️thank you for sharing!
Do you buy cartridges or ink samples before committing to a bottle? I have one of their bottles, Gulf Blue, and with 75ml it's gonna just a while. I'm burning through my sample cartridges however. 😅
No, I am not having the same experience. I don't smell anything. Did you record the smell? 😉 Jokes aside, I do have a roller ball by Noodler's. I read beforehand, it would be smelly, but the smell would vanish over time. It did not for me. I am not using it. Was having flow issues anyway, in addition to the smell. So I can relate to not using a smelly pen. I seem to just be into colors. I do like a good looking, feeling and writing pen, but for me it seems to be all about the color on the paper. Some inks are just so marvellous. I would use them all if I had the chance. I don't think your funny liking the color and not knowing why. There is a lot going on inside of us when looking at colours. Just enjoy it. Maybe, eventually, it will come to you why you are liking this particular colour.
I also heard that noodlers pens are smelly. But I definetly never heard it from Esterbrook Pens. The color is definetly also an important part for me. But it seems like it is more about the combination and the tool/pen. Probably it will come to me. There is still plenty of time to explore.
Love how you get drops of ink from the pen. Well done

Good to hear that it‘s not only me who has smelly esties. Thank you for reaching out!
I appreciate your excellent reviews :) I have not noticed any smell from my Esterbrook pens, but I have The Nouveau blue and Scarlet red materials.
Thank you so so much!

I‘m defined team samples. I think it‘s because I want to be able to put the ink in any of my pens. And with cartridges I am limiting my options.
