      Samsung TV didn't have any QD-OLED TVs on display from memory - the screens seen were from restricted close presentations of Samsung Display . So a lot more B roll of Z95B and G5 - Think all three will be great for existing media - Samsung is really close to show 40000NIt masters natively - G5 can remap that to 2000Nit tone map and still look great ( this is for full colour mapping ability not just white highlights )

    I absolutely LOVE my 2024 TCL QM8. I was going to get a Sony OLED, but after over a year of research, and rhe black Friday pricing I got the QM8. This is the biggest, brightest, and most color tv I have ever owned. In most situations, the black levels are about as good as the OLEDs my friends have. If TCL increases the viewing angles, implements 23bit LEDs, improves the video processing slightly, and has those even better blooming controls you guys talked about at CES, then TCL will be hard to beat. The 2024 QM8 was nearly perfect and ridiculously powerful. TCL in 2025 is going to be amazing

      Blooming, talk to me about blooming? I have 65” LG E7 & C1 oleds, but the QM8 98” is on my fomo interest list for main theater/living room duty but now I’m like how good and at what cost are this year’s TCL sets going to be? Tariffs & fomo on the current $4k pricing on the QM8 has me running out of time it feels like.

    LG’s G5 is pure gloss with an anti reflective treatment. It’s not even remotely close to matte and the picture quality is miles better than Samsung in terms of clarity and contrast .

      Miles better? Stop speaking in hyperbole, LG has better processing and slightly better clarity since its not matte. In a dark room you'd never know the difference unless you get within 1 foot of the screen and go looking for the tiny differences. We'll see which TV is actually better once they're available and shown side by side. Seeing these displays in a show room is a poor environment to judge them.

    • @ubuu7
      @ubuu7 14 днів тому

      @Malinkadink ok if you are a dweller in darkness that never exposes a room to any light maybe, but I'm sorry the matte trashes the clarity and crispness in any sort of ambient light.

      @Malinkadink 14 днів тому

      @@ubuu7 No it doesn't, have you seen the S95D in person or the G80SD monitor from Samsung that uses the same matte coating? I know what a trash matte coating looks like I had a VG248QE monitor that I specifically removed the matte film from because of how much it ruined the monitor. I've also had the G80SD monitor and next to my LG C2 in a dark room they looked practically identical save for the better colors and brightness on the QD-OLED.

    Can they even scale this RGB miniLED tech down?!? I wonder why they exclude to larger sizes only. It almost tells me it might not be feasible or even possible in smaller sizes. I hope that is not the case.
    I know most ppl watching this, won’t have the cash to fork up for a 110-116+ inch tv. I think this is why LG won the award… bc the tech is obtainable to the masses, and made a huge leap in WRGB performance, without the use of MLA, etc…
    I think the award was worthy, bc I can’t tell you how many times I heard WRGB is at the end of the road and can’t get any better, brighter, etc… well, this proves them wrong, and it wouldn’t surprise me if more advancements are made…

    Are they finally bringing ADS Pro to 55 and 65 inch? We've usually seen them in 75 inch which is less common.
    I gotta say the cooling with the extra panel is going to be great for OLEDs. They are now becoming decent SDR performers - when OLEDs hit 600 nits on a full window and have cooling to avoid ABL, that's when LEDs will never really touch them again. They're edging close to that and it's a far cry from the 150 nits that we had a few years ago.
    The problem is that the mid-range units are not keeping up as much - what improvements will the C5, S90F, Bravia 8 bring to the table?

  • @SuperYinzer

    If RGB mini LED makes it's way to mid range tv's, does OLED have any chance? Brighter, more colors and better color volume, bigger and cheaper. Only missing pixel level light control. That will be a tough sell for OLED

      @stopthefomo  14 днів тому +1

      Yes, but you have to add it to the cart separately if the retailer has it but this is a recent response from LG reps regarding the availability of the 83" G4 stand: "We understand that you're looking for the correct stand mount for your 83" G4 TV, and it can be frustrating when the information isn't readily available. The stand for the OLED83G4WUA is sold separately, but if it’s showing as discontinued on our website, it might be challenging to find the exact model. We recommend checking with authorized LG retailers or contacting our support team directly. Please send us a private message on Social Media @LGUSSupport, and our team will be more than happy to assist you in locating a compatible stand or exploring alternative mounting options."

    I think the way to go for Samsung will be RGB microLED. It is better and cheaper than OLED. Basically you put a low resolution microLED display/backlight (let say 480p) behind a regular LCD and you get almost undistinguishable results from OLED in terms of contrast/blooming. A very low resolution microLED array (specially on a big size like 75"+) should be easy and cheap to produce for Samsung and with very high yield unlike a 4K one, where you need millions of microLEDs extremely close to each other.
    This approach is very similar to the dual LCD tech some companies tried before (which produced pretty much OLED contrast levels) using one black and white LCD as backlight but without the disadvantage of losing brightness, slow response time, etc. because you had a normal backlight that needed to go though 2 LCD layers.. in this case the microLED low res display (or array whatever you wanna call it) hits directly the LCD layer and that's why you end up with 10k nits and great color gamut. Even if it is not pixel level control it is good enough that whatever blooming it might exist will be almost imposible to notice.

    • @stopthefomo
      @stopthefomo  14 днів тому +1

      Not a hater, just telling it like it is. We recognize that it's brighter and so is the S95F, but brightness has NEVER BEEN THE PROBLEM with the G4. It's the color luminance that needed to get brighter, and it apparenly addressed that in the G5 but only to match the QD-OLED - so why are we excited that the G5 is now at best matching QD-OLED? Notice I'm not praising QD-OLED this year either despite it being slightly brighter as well, both claiming 4000 nits? As a matter of fact, I firmly believe LG OLED will survive QD-OLED which is likely retired within 2 years.

So i use intense Magic Remote, is 10 time faster than my other Samsung remote at my home. I use long press function to quick jump to my favorite Apps, so i long press 1 jump to my USB, press 2 jump to UA-cam, press 3 go on Netflix... And you have on Samsung a tinny shit remote with just a few direct functions and USB charging and very little solar panel on the other side. So annoying to put Samsung remote on charging!

    Not sure who voted the G5 best of CES but they obviously have no clue what they are doing. The Samsung S95 F is the best tv at CES., LG slightly increase the color to look a little better next to a QD OLED panel but dont be fooled. The best picture quality that money can buy is on a QD OLED panel the second best is a LG WOLED panel. Those other mini led panels are not worth the time of day because its impossible for them to complete with self emissive panels.

Contrast is the one essential factor not some colours, which can't be distinguished from other colours anyway. @@TheDiymovies
