I think part of playing this game well is not focusing on optimal stuff but combining situational understanding with taking what you can get when you can, multiple smaller interactions that add up. AB doesn't shy away from jab, short kick DP as an example.
It's definitely situational understanding and capitalizing on openings as you said, but LP > LK > DP isn't "nonoptimal", it's a punish that reaches and has quick enough startup frame data to actually work in certain situations. The reason it's so hype is that what IS optimal changes every moment, for every interaction-and these pros keep up with that.

Nope. Go watch FAV cup 3v3, which was USA vs EU vs Asia, and Mena's squad took it. The American, European, and Asian metas are different, and that's a good thing because SF5 had a mostly global meta where everyone was doing the same stuff.

The level of execution and how matches can just swing the in other direction like that makes it very fun to watch. The game's just going to get better as they throw new characters into the mix.
Saw the finals broadcast live after seeing the EVO final in person. It was SO hype seeing this matchup again. SF6 is a fighting game masterpiece. Ignore the haters. The game is FUN.
After SFL USA ended I immediately went to the EVO 2023 playlist and rewatch the GF between these two, and it's crazy to see all the adjustments and improvements made to their gameplay in just a few months. I still think there needs to be 2 big balance patches/year, but when I think about this level of refinement in gameplay being forever denied to NRS players because of constant balance patches, I think unfrequent balancing is the lesser of the two evils.
I don’t care if you call me a gatekeeper, If you say that set wasn’t entertaining, you just don’t belong in the FGC. Go find something else. That set was incredible. I’ve watched it at least 3 times from start to finish now including this video and it still blows my mind. Ps: can we talk about the ice someone has to have in their veins to do Luke’s Perfect (Black) Flash combos so consistently in high pressure moments like this?
this game is absolutely great it does need a few tweeks but its minor ones mk1 is harder to balance rn then sf6 will ever be like the capcom fight team really killed it w this game
Now just wait till after the Japanese players watch and disect this match and see what they come up with. High level. Its bonkers. For me who just made diamond 1 with Lily, feels bad man. Hoping some Balrog-esque figure graces this game. Missing my main.
SF6 is always fun to watch compared to other fighting games. I dislike the way NRS make their games. All characters have the same jump and air attack animations and that’s something you can’t find in street fighter games. Everyone has its own style to move, jump, walk, crouch etc. It’s more entertaining to watch when you got something like that.
MenaRD, Caba and Crossover are showing the great talent that we have for Esports here in the Dominican Republic! ¡Del patio pa´l mundo! Thanks for the great content always Max
bro watching these 2 gives me more adrenalin than watch world cup , AND I AM A FUCKING BRAZILIAN GUY, this game comes to stay, we will get amazing moments in sf6
This video on how the new mechanics affect modern gaming reminds me of the discussion on Hit Box controllers. I am referring to those who find the addition of easier machines to be a negative. I disagree with them first and foremost, and my opinion would be that technology’s purpose is to make things easier. Whether that’s a positive or negative for humanity is a different matter entirely, but I believe players are going to have to adapt to the new technologies regardless of how much they hate it. But this video shows a new perspective on how new technology can add value to gaming, if done correctly of course.

I'm just messing around lol Im 42 been playing SF since I was 12, my 14 yr old son finally thinks he has what it takes to beat me. But I still beat him with sheer experience @@JonnyBoss83
I love Tekken 8 but I recently went back to Street fighter 6
Hey, it would be cool if you linked and credited the original tournament stream in the description. I'd watch more of this
Ive been doing jiu jitsu and taekwondo for 3 and 2 years now and your on the dot with high level scrambles under pressure being the most hype and bringing out the best players its the so similar to a martial arts mentality.
This reminds me of 3rd strike how fir so long people weren't good at it then it became the most popular for how secretly deep it can be
This is the most exciting SF since Third Strike.
I don’t care if you call me a gatekeeper,
If you say that set wasn’t entertaining, you just don’t belong in the FGC.
9:59 So happy we got Charlie Day to commentate the fight.
this game is absolutely great
it does need a few tweeks but its minor ones
mk1 is harder to balance rn then sf6 will ever be like the capcom fight team really killed it w this game
Game is great, just needs a patch so we can see more characters shine in high level and it's easily the undefeated fighting game of this new era.
Now just wait till after the Japanese players watch and disect this match and see what they come up with. High level. Its bonkers. For me who just made diamond 1 with Lily, feels bad man. Hoping some Balrog-esque figure graces this game. Missing my main.
Before the match: "Is it still good?"
After the match: "Why did you even need to ask?"
Holy god their reactions are superhuman 😮
Was this the best SF6 match to date? Incredible!
the first time in a long time i want to watch finals for any fighting game.
good show
Tell me this shit isnt GOAT'd. Just incredible reactions and moments
some bots don’t think so because they’re a bunch of drones
SF6 is always fun to watch compared to other fighting games. I dislike the way NRS make their games. All characters have the same jump and air attack animations and that’s something you can’t find in street fighter games. Everyone has its own style to move, jump, walk, crouch etc. It’s more entertaining to watch when you got something like that.
I just entered Gold 4 & this game is still a blast. It's my first deep dive into a fighting game though so, maybe I'm not burnt out.
Need Max's opinion on the state of Mk1 and the NRS community
Spot on analysis, plus it always challenges players on various spectrums, per frame discernment on fundamentals 😂
SF6 makes me want to break my monitor - I see hits connect and do zero dmg
Pro level gameplay is fantastic. The problem is the variety of characters. I really hope Capcom does some adjustments to help even things out a bit
Variety is better than the end of SFV and that game had like 20 more characters
How does SF6 ANY less variety than any other game in the series?
The roster is varied, high level tournaments, not really.
Other games doing it worse doesn't exempt 6
@10:00 The pixel health comebacks are always amazing to see.
Street Fighter is in a good place. Capcom slow cooked this one.
Lowering the skill floor doesn’t always lower the skill ceiling
The game is so much fun, but playing alone really takes the magic away
As much as I love sf6, every round seems like you are either beating your opponents ass, or getting your ass beat..
