Thank you Louis, keep going with the automotive comparison, I the that is a model electronics should follow. Auto has Dealership level (think Apple), private shops ( Rossman Repair Group), and DIY. And no one has trouble getting to any of them, at least nothing like electronics does. I can go buy a full manual including wiring diagram for my car right now, but I can't for my phone. And look how many electronics devices are built into a car now, many modules and sensors,.
Professional auto tech of 25 years. Louis is spot on with the comparison. Any Jane or Joe can go into the parts store and get parts for almost any car. Not only that, but you may have 3 different manufacturers making the same part at different price points. Tesla is a bit of an exception. You're kind of stuck with the dealer on those. Tesla is the Apple of the automotive industry.
As long as you don't use this comparison on the wrong lawmaker. The ones with common sense will get it and understand. The ones with no common sense will say "Wait, that is dangerous to let people work on their own cars." Then try and pass a law to make it illegal.
@@A.Froster I love Tesla vehicles. They are engineering marvels! But I dread having to fix them because Tesla does NOT like to share repair or diagnostic info. A tech at my shop almost lost his mind trying to diagnose a turn signal problem on a 14 model s.

Thank you for putting forth the effort to come all the way here. I wish these clowns would at least pretend to care, though. At least you got to say your piece and you got to experience the wonders of I5 traffic.
Antitrust laws (also referred to as competition laws), are statutes developed by the U.S. government to PROTECT consumers from PREDATORY business practices (like Apple's computer repair franchise/division). They ensure that FAIR competition exists in an open-market economy. Antitrust laws monitor the distribution of economic power in business, making sure that healthy competition is allowed to flourish and economies can grow. Antitrust laws apply to nearly ALL industries and sectors, TOUCHING EVERY LEVEL OF BUSINESS, including manufacturing, transportation, distribution, and marketing. Antitrust laws prohibit a number of business practices that restrain trade. Examples of illegal practices are price-fixing conspiracies and conspiracies to constrain trade/services, corporate mergers that are likely to cut back the competitive fervor of certain markets, and PREDATORY acts designed to GAIN or HOLD ON TO monopoly power. If GM or Ford tried to do what Apple is doing, they would obviously get sued.
Louis, thank you for your work! Suggestion: Please speak slower. All I can imagine is what their brains were trying to process when you illustrated your point. (Blur) I’m not sure if any of these members were able to process what you were trying to articulate. Perhaps reference things like walkmans cd players or other things from their generations that were constantly problems. 👍
I disagree, and this particular hearing they were on a very tight time schedule so they were really rushing other people along in the rest of it. Everybody there was talking very quickly in order to get their point across in time, and that is what the recordings are for, if they need it they can listen to it again later.
Keep up the good fight. The opposition doesn’t have an argument because there isn’t one to have. The right to repair is inherently and intrinsically ours, not the choice of a system that encourages monopolies and padded pockets. Bless you Louis and well wishes.

- Louis: I am happy to answer any questions...
- Questions for our guest? *cricket sounds... Ok thank you very much!
I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
EDIT: Ok after I watched the whole testimony, I got to say i was pleasantly surprised. I don't know if it was just for show, but it really seemed that the general feeling in the room was very supportive of the right to repair. The lobbyists were humiliated by not even being able to answer simple questions and just giving PR BS unrelated answers. Lets all hope that this change of tone will be just the beginning.
Both imo
They actually grilled the lobyists just minutes later. It seemed like they understood Louis' points.
You should watch the whole video, they actually seem to be in support of the bill.
You can actually see 2 younger council members to the far right. The one in the front row, Marko, took a nice shot at one of the lobbyists later on.
@@gouveia00 Yes I just did and I edited my comment. IDK if its all just theater like all public hearings, but it seemed like a win to me.
Love you Rossman!! Huge fan!
@@nismo2070 wait you can't replace anything on a tesla ? what ?
@@A.Froster I love Tesla vehicles. They are engineering marvels! But I dread having to fix them because Tesla does NOT like to share repair or diagnostic info. A tech at my shop almost lost his mind trying to diagnose a turn signal problem on a 14 model s.
Man this guy is helping us! We need more people like Luis!!
Go Go Go Luius!!! I feel that the whole situation has a large influence on the other parts of worl to....
Thank you for what you do!
Thank you! This is much appreciated
TBH it's quite sad the fact that we have to even fight for these things... Thanks to corporate greed.
We support you in spirit
Thanks for the hard work keep it up. You are representing everyone!!
Would love to see a highlight reel of the senators questions and such. The guy who had the xbox fan fail. The guy wgo owns his phone when he buys it. Stuff like that
You are a Hero. I feel it is only you step outside and fight for us.
Very cool and helpful for the people thank you
Much love from a Washingtonian
This was even more satisfying, watching the Rossmann complete his testimony a second time.
Great job with video great job at what you are doing
DAMN the way you scooted that lady out of your way was savage!
That’s what she gets for woman-spreading!
Very concisely stated. Great testimony. Hopefully at some point, they will care.
I love the slide in. Out my way I got business to do
That was hilarious. He was itching to talk.
Keep up the good work, sir!
Bravo! Concise, to the point (omitted the usual redundant statements), and the “car” example was easy to comprehend and relate to. 👏
This is why You Rock! Thank you!
Third woman from far left, middle row; I love her smile at the end lol.
Well said 👏 thanks Louis 😊
Thank you for putting forth the effort to come all the way here. I wish these clowns would at least pretend to care, though.
At least you got to say your piece and you got to experience the wonders of I5 traffic.
You're a badass. Thanks for pushing this front in my state.
Maybe we should start a "National Repair Day" and/or "World Repair Day" to get more attention to this cause.
You're my hero, dude. Keep up the good work, don't let this assholes get away with their BS.
Perfect 👌 Poor Samantha
Good man standing up for the vulnerable.
UNLEASH THE FREON
MAKE THE EMP!
@Bob MASS HYSTERIA!
Yes! Hopefully this passes and Oregon quickly follows.
You shouldn't have explained how you get the chips now.
Now they'll figure out how to close that loophole.
I’m only seeing this now. Awesome speech.
The fact that they didn't have any questions is NOT a good sign. They didn't take anything he said into consideration.
You didn't actually pay any attention, though
But they had good questions for "lobsters"
Watch the whole testimony, lots of questions were asked against the lobbyists
Well prepared and well spoken!
I can't help hearing someone say "r/wooosh."
I just hope they were listening and caring
Thank you Mr. Rossmann
That gorgeous woman with glasses on....
I thought and asked the same; Mr Rossmann himself answered so I'll forward: Olivia Webb from iFixit
You are a hero, In name of all customers that had problems with their apple devices!!!
You the man keep it up never give up never surrender
Well said and so true. Hope it makes a difference!
Those people look clueless they had no idea what he was talking about 😂🤣
Thank you for your work.
It's so awkward to just see the lady next to you scoot and sit behind you lmao.
Other than that, well said Louis!
Keep up the good fight. The opposition doesn’t have an argument because there isn’t one to have. The right to repair is inherently and intrinsically ours, not the choice of a system that encourages monopolies and padded pockets. Bless you Louis and well wishes.
