- American singer/songwriter Jazmine Marie Sullivan was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She began singing at the age of 3. In connection with her super Christian upbringing, one standout experience she recalls was performing a solo in front of the entire congregation at her church when she was 8 years old. Since her family were so heavily into the church, it’s no surprise that most of Jazmine’s musical influences growing up were gospel artists namely Kim Burrell and The Clark Sisters.

Jazmine Sullivan is so special. Recently on her instagram story, she listed Kim Burrell, Stevie Wonder, Brandy, Chaka Khan and Sarah Vaughan as her greatest vocal influences and you can hear it in subtle, unique ways. Jazmine will go down in history as one of the greatest singers to ever pick up a mic and was a child prodigy that only gets better every time she returns to the scene. A true student of the game and that's how you elevate each time.

Jazzy is doing her thang. I'm extremely happy for her. Her voice is OMG of the charts. I have mad respect for her. I mean mad respect. I listen to her allllllllll day. I'm not sure if its a addiction or if it's because of her lyrics. Shes able to reach everyone who has have or had a relationship. She, along with her lyrics taught me how to walk away from toxic people. She saved my life. I need her voice to reach other women.

Jazmine's voice is special and it makes sense she was inspired by Kim Burrell and the Clarke sisters because her voice is of that generation... It's so soulful and reminiscent of the soul era that she gets slept on because people are used to a formula for the most part and what's popular is everyone sounding alike.. Artists like Jennifer Hudson.. Jazmine.. Keke.. They can truly sing and sometimes as weird as that sounds it works against them.. Not many know what to do with talents that huge... Alot of new producers are used to auto tuning voices...she should be a way bigger artist

I didn’t even watch your video. How sad that you couldn’t find anything better to comment on. Jazmines music herself already spoke on her abusive past relationship. But Thank God for her faith and family. Her Mother battled cancer and she supported her in many ways including going on a vegan eating journey which also helped her in weight loss….Also her current supportive relationship she is in now for several years.
