Poor Mike! Hasn’t seen his children in 7 years. He was my favorite of the group. My brother has MS so I have a soft spot for Mike because I can’t imagine the pain he is going through
Money doesn't change people, it just enhances who you are. Also seems that Motown tends to take advantage of new artists. How many times have we heard those horrible things about them.
Mike ALWAYS stood out to me. I do remember when he used a cain and he walked with a slight limp; but he was so Rico Suave about it you can see he didn't let that hinder anything. As soon as he started talking in his bass boosted, big tree stump dck voice I was like "Wanya, Shawn, Nathan WHO??" LOL! He also has a nice smile. I like that he was loyal to the band and he didn't dip out the first chance he got. God bless him for that.😁
The fact that they officially unincluded him to receive a Hollywood Star is unsettling to me... especially when he was on ALL their gold platinum and diamond albums... after he left they couldnt even go gold anymore and yet they don’t give him a fuckin STAR? that’s actually disturbing
This is really sad and disappointing. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 39 and I know how it feels for people to worry more about money and themselves more than your well being. :-( Sorry you had to go through that Mike... you still have fans out here!! :-)
My bff Jason live in Calli and he has a home girl that was a video model. The things Misty said about the brothers was shocking. Wayne thinking he was the shit likes to go after Nate's girls. She wasn't interested in Nate like that but they exchanged numbers and kept in touch. Wayne was doing what competitive young men do and they ended up fighting, like for real. Thats how she knew Nate was fed up because they were platonic although it was obvious he wanted more. She's actually in Mint Conditions video Whoa. It happened around that time because they were on tour.
I know, one of my best friend's brother has lived with MS all of his life. I haven't bought an album by then since their second album because I heard the stories. Friends of mine who met them over the years can speak to that fact. Battling back to back major illnesses plus therapy informs you who are the real friends and family in your life especially when money is involved!
MS is a bitch. I've lost my job, woman, ability to drive, ability to stand longer than 10 mins(if that),I'm 39 using a cane/walker and bathroom problems. I can go on but... MS is a beast that's tore me up, especially in the head. Thankfully my kids keep me sane. All you can do is stay strong and battle on.
The original lineup of Boyz II Men is a prime example of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Wish health issues and ego trips had not killed their enormous success.
Don't know how true this is but one thing I noticed is that everyone that worked with them complained about their inflated egos after becoming successful. Your gift and ambition as well as drive to succeed is essential and important but your character is the foundation that everything else is built on. Basically a lousy character can bring everything else crashing down...
Based on the clip that they showed of Kandi's interview, it seems that she was uneasy about going into depth with their encounter. She kind of let them pull it out and cosign on what the interviewers said. They do seem like they were jerks back then.....everybody aint lyin.
I think it's crappy that the three remaining in the group did an album with some of the old songs and took Mike's part out. You just don't do that. I'm glad I have the songs with his part in it.
Sad to hear about Mike's medical condition. Sending prayers! I'm a firm believer that prayer changes things! In Jesus Name 🙌🙌❤️ And also give you the strength you need to get through your wilderness. As far as your singing partners, they definitely should be a bit more understanding and encouraging. You all have supported each other for so many years. No one knows what may fall in their door steps. God is able to do the impossible. Always enjoyed you all music. 🎵🎶 Much love to all. Praying 🙏🙏🙏❤️
A praying American citizen is one of the wonders of the world really. Because that country is proving to be modern day Babylon and it just blinds her people from seeing the light
Thank you RRG for this video, I always wondered what happened to Mike from Boyz II Men. He definitely was the voice that stood out in the group. Their harmonies were unmatched. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
He has the best voice! But they say they don't really need him because Nathan is a baritone as well. That's how their sound has been able to stay the same throughout the years 😔
That’s sad and disappointing to learn they had bad attitudes and alienated writers like the legendary Babyface?!!! What a privilege to work with him! An honor to get one of his songs. I would’ve loved for them to have a longer run on top.
I 1 million percent agree. From the temptations, to Freddie Jackson, to Keith sweat, jodeci , and boys 2 men. unfortunately, the r&b music has died. Much like rap. Just really a shame that has happened
They never wanted a new 4th member. They knew they would make more money and profit with just three members. They only wanted Mike around for the 20-year anniversary. After that end, they gave him a sorry deal he knew he wouldn't take. That's why Mike is not in the group because they felt like he could have did more.
So sad you would take advantage of your partner knowing his circumstances. And really don't care for their music. Real bad attitudes . Since someone is sick you take advantage.
I feel they have NO empathy for Mike. Why he got to sell his soul to be back in the band to ensure they're good. His health is more important. The 3 guys are just lame. I'm rooting for Mike ❤🙏🏾 his been through it ❤🙏🏾 ❤🙏🏾
@@JahleeyahKalonji And your so right. That's when they started to rub out when Mike left. And I agree if Mikes back I'm all the way in . Because he is and always will be the bass and back bone of Boyz 2 Men. Period ❤
Growing up an 80’s baby and a pre-teen/teen of the 90’s, B2M were LITERALLY the soundtrack of my LIFE!!! I always wondered what happened to them as a group and Mike and for some reason, I always compared them to not only the Temptations, but in being more specific, Mike to Melvin of the Temptations. From his beautiful deep singing voice and even down to his medical condition. I thought he and Melvin had the same condition/disease. So great hearing his story! You never let us down and always provide us with truthful and informative content!
I use to love I mean absolutely love Boys 2 Men until I seen Nathan at the mall when I was teenager he was so mean/rude when I asked him for a autograph that was a lesson taught for me with celebs And Mike was handsome his voice ❤😍🔥
That does not surprise me about Nathan being rude and mean too. My one friend is related to Shawn and she told me that he think he is better then everyone in his family. When she need help and he would not help her
Wow. That's why I never even attempt to approach a celebrity. If they care rude I will instantly never watch anything with them in it...lol. I'd rather just not know.
Yes Nate is rude he was arguing with me in my inbox because I responded to a post about why I think Mike is not in the group. Nate literally inboxed and then blocked me after I told him hes proving my point by arguing with me.
There's a Vladtv interview with Dallas Austin saying how Boyz II Men was complete a-holes towards everyone including Babyface. Don't let the good guy images fool you..
How could they have forgotten that Babyface wrote "End of the Road" for them and that was a major hit on both their first album and "Boomerang" Soundtrack?!
I will always say young brothers and sisters cannot handle $$$$!! Period. I am a huge Babyface and Dallas fan. Man those are supposed to be our elders and gate keepers how can you be disrespectful to them?? Sigh
Mike was my absolute favorite member ! Bay-beeee..you don't even understand LOL... As a Phillygirl in the 90s, I was around their age, and I was obsessed with Boyz to Men & everyone knew it... and man I had the HUGEST crush on Mike. I had all their albums- in English & Spanish . It’s funny how life turns out, the irony is that years later - I wound up having his son as my student in class! Crazy right ?! This was a great video- very eye opening 🌟 I wish him the best...he seems like a really nice guy!
They still have great voices. But they dont have that same sound without Mike, if you listen to their early stuff, Mike's baritone voice had its importance. Especially when theyd sing acapella.
Without “Bass” Mike, there’s no Boyz ll Men. What a shame to hear they haven’t been humble as they should have been. Be humble & grateful! Get MIKE back & start making sweet music again already!
Thanks for confirming! I was always told that Mike had to abandon the group because he had lost his voice through laryngitis or something.... NOW I KNOW THE TRUTH.
I was SOOOOO in love with Mike. Ironically, I ended up getting diagnosed with MS shortly before he did. MS is no joke, and many ppl don't understand the real toll it takes on your body and mind. I have had to retire from my career because of it. I feel his pain. OAN, it amazes me that Nate tries to act like Dallas Austin is lying about how horrible they were! And now, Kandi has said the same. When I was in college, they came for a concert, and fans couldn't wait to see the show. The show was lackluster, and for the ppl who had backstage passes, they were treated like we were beneath them. I mean, HORRIBLE, arrogant, nasty! All except for Shawn. Mike wasn't as bad. But that WANYA...OMG--horrible person, and Nate wasn't far behind. It was so bad that ppl were throwing their CDs and cassettes in the trash on campus. This was mid 90s LOL.
wow after watching this I don’t know if I could listen to their music anymore. Sorry to hear about your MS condition. I think Mike was brave to finally tell the world he has MS. It was cruel of his ex wife to cut off his relationship to their kids tho. That’s messed up

A parent that separates their children from their former spouse/partner is wicked. If you have issues with each other hash that out separately don't drag the children into it. All you do is continue this vicious cycle from generation to generation.
Please be advised, just if anyone didn't know, the masterminds behind The Boyz 2Men Volume Two album, were SuperProducers TIM KELLY and BOB ROBINSON. The duo of Tim&Bob, whom was given the major task by Dallas Austin to produce that sophomore album, which became their most highlighted award winning album.
Mike has always been my favorite in the group. I remember having the HUGEST crush on him when I was a teenager... without his voice, they're just boyz... ❤ ya still Mike
Chronic health problems like MS are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to live with. Once the systems show, your life is not the same in Any capacity. Healthy people don't understand... they needed to be more empathetic to Mike's situation.
that part in the Jackson 5 movie where Boyz II Men sing is one of my favorite parts 😍 I hate that Mikes not in the group anymore though. they sound perfect together ❤
Regardless of what transpired within this phenomenal group. I am forever grateful for their music. It has helped me create some awesome memories, that the songs where a part of my teen years, back in the 90's. WOW !!!!
Dallas Austin don't get enough acknowledgement. He was apart of the shift in production in the music sene coming into the early 90's, hip hop r&b and rap was changed. Give that man his flowers, TLC, ABC (another bad creation) ect. He was most definitely apart of the sound of the early to mid 90's alone with Teddy Ralley, Jermaine Dupre and Dr.dre.
Wow!!! I never knew one of the members from AZ YET was an original member of Boyz to Men. But how on earth did the label not want Boyz to men as a group but put Mark in a group? Lol 😂 these labels don’t know anything.
Forgot to mention the audio of them singing at the beginning of the video is Shawn, Wanya, Nathan and Marc harmonizing 🙂 They asked Marc to sing with them at one of their shows.
WOW 😳! Great story. I can't believe Boyz to men were so disrespectful to all of those big names, especially babyface, they seem like such gentlemen! I guess money and fame can change you!
All I can say is WOW! What a great group ... and prayers and love go out to mike! Mike, try to understand why the guys have no choice but to contractually protect themselves. In any event, all four of you are fabulous in my book!
I went to their concert before the pandemic and they were really great! But it was very different to not hear Mike do the bass in some of their earlier hits.
Out of all the boys, Mike was always my favorite bass singer. I'll give you that, but overall, I do hope that Boys2Men will keep staying together throughout anything else. In my eyes, they always had a type of brotherhood together. Stay strong boys, and every one else too. Stay strong. We are in this thing together, and the sad part about having ME is that it's both unpredictable and there is no cure for it yet. I know because both me and my mom have it as well. Stay Strong. 🙏
That's really sad! His ex-wife was so-so wrong to deny him access with his children. She'll get her karma! Those children will rescent her in years to come. I hope he gets the chance to explain the truth to the children before it's too late. 🙏🏽🤞🏽 Regarding the relationship with the group, if only he'd open up to his bandmates, the relationship wouldn't have severed. Guys, do learn to open up when you have troubles. It's no shame or weakness. We all have troubles. It's life's journey, and usually make us stronger, once overcome! 'A problem shared, is a problem halved!
Out of all of this I hope Mike and his children's relationship is repaired I won't go into none of their problems or issues with people everybody goes through stuff and I will not be a hypocrite I hope everything works out for them all
Idc, BIIM is still my fav group of all time, as you get older, you stop looking at celebs as god tier super heroes and realize they just people too and most of them do dumb/immature shit when they are young with money. We can probably all look back at ourselves at ages 18-22 and realize we were all prob cocky assholes to some extent.
It's not about seeing these people as god like..it's just about being good people. It's not that hard to be a good person & show respect. That's what's wrong with this world people like you excusing unexcusable rude behavior b/c you like what they do our use age as an excuse. Youve never heard Beyonce behaving like this & she has more success then them & is literally a legend
Such a stupid thing to say. Regardless of age or celebrity/non-celebrity, it doesn't hurt to be respectful of others. It's all in how you're raised. Tf?🤡
Now if one person says your disrespectful jerks then you can say they’re lying but when more than a few people have said it and then to prove their point nathan makes that tweet. Everybody aint lying on them. Then you have wayna behind dating a teenage girl.... this group was a mess behind the scenes. ....
I feel that was wrong of Mike's wife to cut him off of all communications with his kids because of what him and her were going through. We have men out here that will leave their kids behind in a heartbeat and move on yet Mike wanted to be in his kids life regardless which I commend him for that. It's also good to know that the group haven't turned their backs on him and will welcome him back whenever he's ready. Now that's love for your band mate.
@Essential Oils First off motor mouth, we don't have the ex-wife side of the story and yes, only his side. So I based my comment off what he says even though we don't know if that's what really happened. But it's not uncommon for an ex-wife to keep the ex-spouse from being in the kids life because of their issues with one another. I'm merely expressing that it's wrong to exclude him from his kids if that is the case. He may have been rude and a piece of crap in the relationship, but that shouldn't have no baring on his relationship with HIS kids.
@@lexdee523 I know you're not addressing me, but there are legal avenues he can take to see his children. That's why I'm not so sure about his whole "haven't seen my kids in 7 years" story.

My question to the other guys of the group. How the heck can Mike promise them 100% when he doesn't have 100% control over his medical issues????? I'm sure he would love to say sure you have it. I won't walk away again. For me since Mike had to leave not so much a thing that he wanted to do. It was because of the health issues, really guys. I'd be careful because you don't know what any of your futures are going to bring. Just saying! For me Mike's voice from the group is pivotal. I miss hearing him in the group. You shouldn’t be shocked a lot of these artist are the same way I’ve heard so many stories about many singers acting this way.
