After 5 years of riding my Dahon Eezz D3 to work it had a frame failure and is now finished. My friend who bought a Zizzo Forte 2 years ago on my suggestion sold me his bike. He never rode it and it was in perfect condition. I paid $250 for it and felt good about it. I have to say having riden every high end folding bike that the Zizzo frame is as solid as any on the market. Yesterday I took it out on a rough gravel road with my wife on her BMC full suspension mountain bike and I can't believe how well the Zizzo road. The bike was amazing. I can not say enough about the frame and how much it took and not a creak. Most folding bikes would be making creaking sounds or would have come apart but not the Zizzo. Now the drive train is cheap and is passable at best but the frame is first class. I can't see making upgrades to this bike as it's only going to be used for a short ride to work. I don't like to leave my Brompton or Moulton outside all day as I can't bring them inside but this bike will fit my needs well. I wish Zizzo would just sell the frame and you could build one up with high quality components and I think you could have a great folding bike.

Hi Brian - i just bought a Zizzo Urbano just because it fit my budget. I passed on the Forte after watching your video when you first bought it and mentioned the derailleur sucked. Your videos are awesome and informative on how to get around on a folding bike. I’ll be looking out for that video of your forte once you’re done with it. I too would like to take my Urbano out camping with me.

Your tires, with sealant, won't resist punctures but once the tube is punctured, it will leak sealant and then harden, sealing the puncture. However, you will have to reinflate your wheel at least twice before the sealant hardens. I currently have right around 40 bicycles so I have my share of flats. Most of my bikes are throw aways, rebuilt and used on rotation.

I upgraded my derailleur to a Shimano Altus. Not much of a jump but it shifts much smoother now. I also put a set of triggers on it and I love it. It shifts smooth and fast with no skipping so far. I plan on upgrading more things as I go along. I love the frame and the fact that it folds so I’m sold on the Forte.

I got a pack/pannier convertible from amazon for my spare water and general kit. I have to put it on the left, because it drops into the derailleur on the right. Going to pick up a derailleur protector bracket to solve that.
Also thinking of one of those aftermarket front rack kits. Take as much advantage of that weight capacity.

I have the Liberte.....I too want to go a little bit faster in the flats (I live in South Florida).....There is one big bridge where I ride and the wind can make for different gears. So I want to replace the chainring and also replace the tires from 1.5 to 1.125 or 1 inchers that offer better puncture protection which would reduce the speed a bit further. I was thinking of a 52 or 54 and keeping as much eqipment stock as possible for now. The Altus 8 speed has decent shifting, so I think is a definite improvement over a Tourney, but I understand that a 10 speed cassette would be a possibility as far as the space required. Of course this would require a different shifter and derailleur as well so that could be a future possibility.

Thanks Brian, that was a really interesting video.
I was struck by you mentioning how the brompton can wear you down if you spend a few hours riding over bad quality roads.
I got an electric brompton recently (I gave up my car recently as I retired and moved onto a boat), and although I am very very impressed by the quality and the small size it folds down into, I have to admit that the ride is a bit skittish at times.
Unfortunately I have to ride some muddy tracks and poor quality country lanes at times, and my folding MTB feels much safer in those conditions, with its 2 inch wide tyres and its suspension.
That's not a criticism of the brompton at all- its a brilliant design, but maybe not intended for muddy tracks.
So my new idea for an all round compromise bike is the Tern BYB P8.
It has 20 inch wheels, and you can source wider tyres for it, but most importantly it folds down to a smaller size than any other 20 inch bike, so it will go onto trains and into stores with few issues, and it even has a roller wheel so you can push it around when folded.
It looks like a fantastic bike and I think may be a bit more suitable for rural trails and roads, but in my case I want an ebike, so unless I can find a suitable conversion kit, I'll be sticking with the brompton for the time being, although I will also be keeping the MTB for when conditions are wet and muddy.

Removed the crappy tourney RD, installed the deore XT RD and bike shifted alot better but still not perfect so I hopped on ebay again and ordered a Jagwire shift cable kit. Replaced the shift cable and housing with the jagwire and now this bike shifts like butter, every gear hits as soon as I click the shifter and no more jumping out of gear. Long story short, always check/ replace your shifter cable/ housing if you're having shift problems and Jagwire cables are very good quality.*

Great to hear that there are so many urbano bikers here too. Thanks for info, Brian. I am also looking for chrome crank and chain ring 62T. You might want to consider brooks B17 carved black saddle and brooks leather grips 130/100. Because that's what I am going to do for my urbano. Black/white/chromy feel...
For front/saddle bags, get from zizzo. Theirs are waterproof and pretty affordable. I am also buying routewerkz bag which they had a good bike mount for bag removal and it's pretty nice and spacious, since they used to be from backers program.
BTW can u list down where u get 62T chain ring, narrower bottom bracket and chromy crank? I am from Singapore and so they have online store? Cant wait to get those too to complete my bike. Cheers!

Hi Brian. It’s Will from Chicago. I have a question regarding the alignment and routing of the chain between the chain ring and cog. You mentioned the need to install a narrower BB. If I understand what happened, your new chain ring is flat, while the original ring is convex. Therefore the chain’s alignment between the cog and new ring created too much of an angle. What is the ideal sprocket to evaluate this alignment with the chain ring? I’m guessing a straight alignment with a sprocket closest to the center of the cog is best, thus minimizing the chain’s angle when using the + or ~ outermost sprockets. Am I thinking about this correctly? If I’m not, could you kindly tell me which sprocket to test, and the logic behind using that sprocket? I hope I’m explaining my question well enough to follow. I enjoy your videos and look forward to your response.

    Cool video, Brian.
I have almost some bike rebuilding projects.
But what kind of helmet do you wear?
I am searching for something like this. Is it worth it?

I paid like 65-70 dollars for it. The helmet is a Bern Macon. I like it because it's simple looking and comfortable😀

Don't understand why more people don't use tire liners. You can roll over a tack with them and it wont puncture the tube.

Brian, you ride a lot of folded bikes. Can I ask you a question? Are the width of handlebars all the same?

You don't seem to wear many bright clothes or buy brightly colored items for your bikes. Is that by choice or is there limited resources at the shops? Color is safety, isn't it?
