I am a forever Santana fan. Now closing in on 78, every time I hear Soul Sacrifice it absolutely transports me to another Galaxy. And Michael Shrieve the drummer was ONLY 20 when he performed this song at Woodstock!!!
Jose Chepito Areas was hands down the best latin drummer of his era. Two hands, two congas. Two sticks, two timbales. He had touch, timing, and an amazing musical sense. Never over playing and always playing the song. As Carlos himself said: he told stories when he played. For sure, the guy was lyrical af.
And notice how Santana puts himself at the back of his band. And even trades his guitar for a cowbell for a few minutes to let the rythym section do their thing. No ego.
Saw Woodstock the movie, they were awesome. Mike Shrieve tore it up. That was the second drum solo I ever saw. Hard to choose between him and John Bohnam, first solo I ever saw. Aw what the heck both amazing.👍👍👍✌️ Really impressed with the speed love those rim shots. 👍👍👍
The best ever performance on stage ¡ since 1970 ¡ you can search 2016 santana 4 live when this original band play again soul sacrifice with the same Michael Shrive, Greg rollie, Mike Caravello. And santana !
Michael Shrieve was only 20 years old at Woodstock and his drum solo was the best I ever heard, phenomenal 💯% This performance seems to be around the same time as Woodstock; does anyone know what year this performance was? Soul Sacrifice is my favorite Santana song😎🎶🎼🎵🥁🎸🎹👏🙌👍
This version of the band was good, but became even better when Neal Schon joined them ! 😉🙂👍 and Michael Shrieve was one of the best drummer of the classic rock era ! 👍👍😉
This music is and will always be ahead of their time. Immortal
Michael Shrieve so DAMN good on the drums
His hands were so fast. Lightning fast.
The best💯%🥁
He really drove the energy of that early band and he was so young.
Michael Shrieve?
I'm 72 yrs old. When I saw Woodstock the movie, Mike Shrieve became my second favorite drummer, second to John Bohnam. Two amazing drummers. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Chepito was in the driver's seat!
Obviously he had two sticks, two timbales and two congas. He has both of his hands.
Oh my, Dexter… c’mon.. Read this lyrically. A musician would get it. But evidently not a buffoon.@@DexterTheMethOrphann
@@trhester1 I am a musician. You’re the buffoon. I don’t play any precession instruments though
My ex has a autograph drum stick from him back in early 90s in Fresno
Carlos’ first school report read, “Plays well with others.”
My wife and I saw him play last November in Las Vegas. It was a hell of a concert.
😂
That’s a GREAT line !!!!
Where’s the proof
Талант.
It doesn't get any better than this!
Can't imagine what it's like to just go out and kill it every time. Had to be a blast to see Santana play live
And notice how Santana puts himself at the back of his band. And even trades his guitar for a cowbell for a few minutes to let the rythym section do their thing. No ego.
Shrieve has the speed of Buddy Rich!! AWESOME!!!!
Billy Cobham and Ginger Baker for speed rolls. 😊
Divine..... And on the eigth day, God created a soul sacrifice.

That concert was after Woodstock. Amazing. Thanks for sharing with us in a good quality
Long live Santana. Michael Shrieve is easily one of the greatest of all time.

Paisano y hermano. Carlos Santana. Muy buenos recuerdos d cuando tenía 16 años d edad. Saludos
When I first start playing Conga drum I heard this this was my warm- my exercise before I started playing anything I would play this
Michael Shrieve = GOD DAMN!!!!!!!!!
Drummer is the best
This version of the band was good, but became even better when Neal Schon joined them ! 😉🙂👍 and Michael Shrieve was one of the best drummer of the classic rock era ! 👍👍😉
I'm not so sure. I don't think Santana needed Schon. He was there for only 1 or 2 albums. I think he had left already at this time
Whhhhhhhhat a band! Michael the drummer doesn't have a big kit, even though he's a master drummer.
About the only tune that I know all the lyrics
Music is soul...i just need a good...drummer!
Nickel chrome
Is that brother Jorge on maracas? He’s off the hook in another world😄
I thought that it might be Coke Escovedo but I'm not sure. He played live shows with them during this period.
Is it bad that I want dance to this, too?
you just do it
Go with the flow - man, if you don't want to dance to this, you may not actually be alive!!
I'm sorry,,this is best soul sacrifice
You don't need a multi-tiered drum kit if you have the "goods".
Seseo escuchar completo la cancion no tengo a nadie
Being musician is very physically hard

tanglewood 1970 LIVE
I played the drums, I have also played the Congas and bongos for about an hour...how do these guys keep there fingers from bursting/?
Yoruba and Macumba powers in a single Kamehameha!
I never saw a bad carlos show...
Pure music 😂
De que año es esto?

Tanglewood 1970
How do those drummers keep going?
Born with it and drugs . Gotta be your answer 😀😀😀
Who’s the black bongo player
Michael Carabello on Congas at Woodstock and until 1974-1975.
I don't see a black guy
The electric church...
Y quien era ese el de la camisa celeste que aparece ahi bailando?
Che Escarabajo.
En WOSTOOC sucedió igual.
Their muscles must have been screaming stop....my god this must have been sooo hard to maintain...
Chapito! Si! No need to translate. K
They usually get carpal tunnel as I know from being with a drummer
Back when concerts were the real thing.
I got a white...majic,woman
think the band members were grooving?
Да!!!
WTF😮😮😮
Makes sense though. 283k subs, only 300 views after a week. Dead channel, this. So dead. The most dead.
You seem like a super rude person.
Dude chill out, it’s from Tanglewood 1970… took me 30 seconds to figure that out.
You gonna tell us what year this was? What the venue was?
Super unprofessional. Get your shit together.
Yeah idk what it is. It was performed in Tanglewood, Lenox, MA. August 10, 1970
I think it was Tanglewood, which Michael Shrieve thinks he played better than Woodstock.
@@JohnLennon99791 WAY better
