The original Santana lineup was by far the best ever, you can't duplicate that passion.
I agreew
Totally agree
100%
Of course.
That is the only Santana
Agree with that 👍 but Rawl Rekow,Karl Peraso, Armando Peraza and Orestes Vilato were amazing percussionist at Santana's line up as well 💥💯from Guayaquil, Ecuador 🇪🇨 Sur América.
These guys were ON FIRE!!!!! I love Michael Shrieve's performance. Great!!!
Yes Sherive had it all together at such young age .Woodstock at 17 yes old .Born to play m.usic .
@@MarioSebastianelliapparently that was a myth and he was actually 20 at Woodstock
@@NotoriousJawz.....Mike was "ageless" at Woodstock!
Michael Shrieve on drums - YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Santana had the best percussionist on the planet. Everyone of them were phenomenal !!!!!!
Absolutely!!
Michael Shrieve was not only one of the greatest Rock drummers ever he was also one of the coolest looking and to watch!
Totally agree
@@JohnLennon99791.....I'm a 76 year old lady and have NEVER forgotten that smile. It went straight to my heart!
Michael Shrieve, talk about passion
Im 66 yrs pld, and grew up in Southern California in a Heavily Mexican American area, and i was about 12 or 13 and i heard Santana being Played in Lowriders, on 8 Track Tapes, Blasting out of peoples homes it was Chicano power time in 1969/71 and as an Anglo Kid i wanted to be Chicano, listening to Santana music since i was 11 or 12!! Great Memories of Paramount, Cal. back then!!!
You don’t see that energy anymore, anywhere.
i wish i can witness this beauty
This Santana can't be understated regarding their importance on music in the late 60's early 70's. These guys were on fire!! One of the most important bands imo.
52 years ago and it never gets old. These guys were ON FIRE !!! Shrieve unbelievable.
When Santana WAS Santana.... no extra guest vocalists or any†hing like that... thanks for posting
MarshallAmp Man the biggest down side to my life will always be to not be your age. no matter ehat it is i have today at 23 years old, nothing will ever bring as much joy to my life as 60's and 70's music . what i would give to be my age in that time period.... thank you to your generation for bringing the best era of art to this world
@@phelixavon-chevrette4323 What a lovely, refreshing post. Peace and blessings to you.
Percussion at its best, all of them❤️
There nothing like the intensity of the Original Santana Band.
Happy Birthday to Mike Shrieve....🥂🍾101-years
THIS IS the SANTANA I grew up with!!! LOVE THIS SOUND____ NO GUEST APPEARANCES NEEDED!!!
You can feel it in there souls back then! Feeding off of each others energy. WOW Mike Shrieve feeling it!
53 years ago. Still sounds amazing and still rocking it in 2023.
Best Drummer on the planet. Will never forget the first time I heard him play (Netherlands) (from Mary Dublin)
la dupla Jose Chepito Areas Y Michael Shrieve dieron vuelta el mate al mundo del rock-latin inolvidables , historicos del mundo del ROCK
The ULTIMATE live band....accept no substitutes.
Santana is one of the best bands/artist to walk this earth, no doubt
Michael Shrieve is a beast !!!!!
The Woodstock lineup. My favorite band. Thank you for this
This is from another galaxy
Incredible i saw this band at the Miami Rock Festival Dec. 29th 1969. My first concert followed by The Band and Cold Blood on the same night. I was in awe of all that great music.
Michael Shrieve on drums brings a lot to this band.
Larry Paris ha! brings just about everything!!! damn.. never heard a better drum player ever since. he just spoiled me!!!
I hear ya Mia fio.
Michael Shrieve was the youngest musician in Woodstock...1969 (19 yeas old)
Don’t forget about cheptio
He sure is gifted.
Love this guy and his music :) and all the musicians are just phenomenal :) Shrieve is such a good drummer !
When music was music
the OGs bringing IT
I love the original Santana band. I was only 20 or 21 years old.
So were they!
CHEPITO smokes that timbales solo on SAVOR!!!
The original Santana that played on the first 3 albums, was one of the greatest groups of all time. Brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for posting
I love santana
So true Barrios
Cynthia, I love you for loving Santana
I would definetely include caravanserai in your list
I was think exactly the same, wanted to write it down, and then i saw your comment !
The chemistry was perfect. These guys were all at their creative peak. Nothing can be measured against this because it was so original, yet so familiar. Tom Yeates, a very good artist in the comics field, said: "When I heard Santana, I knew it was time to get serious". These guys were not kidding. This was a mission and the first 3 albums accomplished it. Whatever came after, no matter what, the legacy they created will last longer than our whole generation. My one request, if I'm allowed, is that someone will release the entire Woodstock segment, not just Soul Sacrifice, and Evil ways. They just released a Beatles GET BACK documentary which shows them having fun together. Please, pretty please, SOMEBODY, please release the Woodstock Santana segment complete. Then I can die happy since I was not there in person. Thank you for the spiritual music which took me to so many beautiful places and still does.
damn who ever shot this should have filmed the Tanglewood concert this is better than woodstock!
50+ years and I can never believe how fantastic they were!!
Michael Shreive amazing.
The whole percussion group is awesome!
The Santana I grew up with.
Chepito is a beast
I like Chepito, he played very well, incredible ! Thanks for his great contribution.
Was für eine Power!!!
How can this get 9 thumbs down? They must have defective hearing.
Do not worry, it's just someone campaining for re-election.
John Giorgione maybe they are millennials .? Certainly weren’t born in the 60s 🤗
Shit, I have defective hearing & I love this band to death!
No way.!!!!
NO WORRIES, THOSE ARE EITHER RAPPERS OR REGUEATONEROS......LOL
I sure like that drummer.
Whoa that Jingo intro blew me away
I love Chepitos single stokes at the 3.57 minute mark. They were a trademark of his playing.
So glad I'm from the 70s!!!
THAT PERCUSSION IS EVERYTHING!!!!
I GUESS, IS THE REASON THEY NAMED THE SONG # 5 IN THE ALBUM SANTANA III "EVERYBODY'S EVERYTHING" LOL
Chepito the best
Nice? NICE?
I'm 54yrs ol. Never gets old...
~Always wanted to be that percussionist beating the hell out of that cowbell.~
More Cowbell🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂
An amazing performance that will out live us all
Agreed 110 % I'm not interested in making MONEY, off someone else's talent. I enjoy good music tremendously , is good for the soul especially. It's what got me going all these years, whatever it was up's or down's, I made it so far with it's help. Thank you Krlo, UA-cam, and specifically the Dj's for putting the music & videos out there. Not to forget Martha Quinn. Thanks everyone.
These guys smoked it! I’m talking about their musical talent😂🥰✌️
That too
My favorite of their albums. Radio always plays black magic women when this band has some outstanding tunes. Incident at Nasbar top of the list for me.
Very nicely shot and edited too!
A banda era demais, a mistura de sons é mágica!!!!!!
Carlos santama excelente guitarrista y su grupo de musicos hoy y siempre
One of the best drummers EVER! HE keeps it together. It's often at the limit! Especially Carlos...because out of tune he looses a moment concentration...and the rhythm guitar is nearly...but no...Michael keeps it strong and together...talks with the rhythm guitar...FANTASTIC!
I seen Santana several times.
First time was in Seattle, I was 19 in the service, when Santana band did Soul Sacrifice it took me several days to move on with my life. Mike Shrieve was incredible. So glad for these videos. Every band member contributes to the band but it's the man behind the kit that carrys them all. Well done Mr. Shrieves.
Take the drummer on Rory Gallaghers Duece.
Rory Gallagher in his field is the greatest rocker of all time. I seen him live in Lincoln, Nebraska with Deep Purple and Fleetwood Mac. 60s and 70s music will never repeat itself.
Santana is awesome but not as creative as he was in the 70s.
Ok I'm gone.
I agree.
WOW they’re flat getting down here so energetic, Michael Carabello @ 4:35 is fantastic on Conga’s
Santana - The band just goes FULL BORE from start to finish - MAXED OUT!
Incredible
A formação original era fantástica!!
Nationally no one really knew them.. That ALL changed when They performed at Woodstock!!.. You talk about makin it all matter back then & they made GOOD on their National Debut!!
AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO PLAY CERTAIN RESTRICTED MINUTES, AND THEY END UP PLAYING FOUR SONGS OR TUNES ...THEY PLAYED MORE THAN THE TOP BANDS PRESENT.... (CHEPITO AREAS).
Was that Chepito doing that drum solo?
Greatest band in the world I've heard them since 1968 I was 11 then
Ladies & Gentlemen, Santana.
BEST EVER
This lineup of Santana was the best. They only got better when they added Neal Schon
En 2016,sacaron el Santana IV, solo faltó chepito pero el álbum es buenísimo. Lo recomiendo., están, Mike, Neal, Greg, Carabello, Brown, y SANTANA. Rescata el tumbao original y mejorado el sonido. VIVA SANTANA.
Chepito in master en Los timbales.
I guess you never heard of Tito Puente, nor the Timbaleros from "Fania All Stars", and others that weren't recognized.
very very true! excellent!!
Regrettable the cameraman was fixated on close up of Shrieve's face. Wanted him to zoom out and show him thrash the kit.
Yes I agree but Mike is so cute, gorgeous ❤
SANTANAs BEST LINEUP EVER.
Back when he was
playing a Gibson SG.
Back when people didn't give a fuck what they looked like and didn't have to have phones with them to photo and record everything they did for likes.
La mejor alineación de Santana, por mucho, Shreive, Rollie, Caravello, Chepito Áreas, Brown y Santana
I heard the heartbeat of Africa.
Still best music.💕💕💕💕✌️🙏
yes he is the best drummer of all I ever seen
Deep spirit music
SPIRITS IN THE FLESH.......
Oh to be at a Santana concert singing “go bag bah go bah, go bah bah go bah again.
Thumb up for another great song by these guys!
One word, TIGHT
I agree about Michael Shrieve, and I'm not taking anything away from him or the other guys in the band but to me the two guys that make Santana are Santana himself and Greg Rolle. I can't even imagine this band without that hammond organ.
I'm a 90s kid and damn this band rocks. Been jamin since the first time I heard them and still till this day
Best lineup. Not commercial sounding like nowadays.
Check out the band Automatic man.......his playing on that album is insane and the band is absolutely stellar. Shame they didn't go on longer.
1:06 How guitar players had to stay in tune onstage in mid-song before electronic tuners - never mind having to do it in the middle of all that percussion madness.
music for the soul mind body and spirit than santana AND today's con cojones ke yes
MICHAEL SHRIEVE,S ,BEST DRUMMER IN THE UNIVERS (I THINK)- RELAX,LISTEN CLOSE YOURE AIES BUT NOT YOUR VISION, AND NOBODY, NEED NO DRUGS TO GET HIGH,,,,
GOOD SPELL
SVARA
i think Carlos was always high........everyone in the 70s was.
Almost the entire group was experimenting with mescaline back then. A few years later, Carlos quit all drugs.
Very clear video and good audio. Santana was cooking here!
They brought the BOOM!
Fantastic ! 🎶🔥
Mike I wanted to meet you at this time.🤣
貴方にあったのはこの後の🇯🇵日本公演でしたから。🤝
Briljant !
ah! Michael!
They went into Woodstock just an up and coming band and left it as legendary.
Two from their Debut one from Abraxas.
The drummer is fucking insane. Imagine being here on acid listening to all of them beat the drums like some sorta tribal ritual. Amazing.
DAVE BROWN!
