i typically use serato sample in logic pro or i use MPC One. it would be dope if u did an updated Serato Studio Tutorial .. i'd like to hear ur opinion of it in 2020
chop em up piece by piece , usually the whole song , end up with 100 chops on average , mess w/ pitch , reverse maybe , fuck round with it till sum works
I dabble in sample chopping and crate digging but usually I chop up my own stuff. I play guitar and bass and so I usually start with the drum pattern, or sometimes a guitar riff or bass line. For one song I chopped up a solo I did on another and used that to craft the main riff, added some fx and voila.
I usually try this j dilla technique chopping at the kick and snare, dope for 3/4 time signature samples making them into 4/4 giving a swing with the hi hats in the sample already
I have also Maschine mk3 and Ableton suite but thinking if it would be good idea to buy Serato Studio bcuz of sampling features, am I right? I can export from Studio to any Daw or Maschine without limitations, right? Cheers
@@Sarah2ill So I see Serato has Serato Studio and now it has Serato Sample which can be purchased as a plugin. Do you suggest a preference, or am I overthinking this??? Lol
Does anyone know how to set up the drum pads for the Machine Micro Mk3 in Serato sample ? I only have 1 pad activated in which only plays the beginning of the song please help
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 SOUL P🔥WER .... I’m just usually sound designing, be it a kick of some keys , or bass....so I just test the sound by making a beat.... then it becomes a whole vibe, then like most folk make variations, but they are distinctively independent of each other... then sometimes I make a 8-16 bar groove that just has ‘ the vibe ‘. Make a stereo loop of that .....then re chop that , the start a fresh sumthn.
Is that Serato Sample within Serato Studio? Or is that Studios own sampler thats exactly like Serato Sample? Been playing around with sample with the 30 day free trial and its amazing but if Studio has it built in I might consider Studio!
That was Really Enlightening. It Made Me Think About My Chopping Techniques and Process. May Need 2 Re-evaluate Serato.. How Do You Get the Chop Back in Maschine or Do You Use Serato to create the song.?
It depends on how I feel. Sometimes I’ll start in Serato because of the cool key matching feature and tempo feature. Then export the stems and finish it in Maschine. Or start in maschine.
Hey Sarah, dope video as usual. What are those red speakers? My process is similar to yours, I vibe with different records and VST instruments and let the creative process flow. I might work on 2 or 3 beats during the same session and pick the best feeling one.
Sarah, I see you holding down the keys so the chop can play without cutting, i don't know how to explain it but there's an option right next where you press play for the sample & you can play chops without them cutting
I was thinking the same thing, but what came to my mind was Fancy by Drake x T.I. x Swizz Beatz x Mary J. Blige. Forgive me, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
My process is, if I got a beat in my head, I would record it. Try and make the beat on DAW, might switch it up and change a few things. Have a few listens and go back to it and change it up again, until I find the "eureka" moment.
Sarah, start making your own beats recording found sounds and your own vocals.....that would be a trip and a hell of a challenge. You have a million plugs in your arsenal to manipulate the sheez’ out of them.... Do It!!
I been making beats for a min. Not as good as you but I'm from Raleigh. I'm shocked I never ran into you as I was open mic dj for Ugly Monkey and Deep South downtown Raleigh. Would've loved to link up with ya. Love ya beatmaking style!
How do you chop up your samples?!
🤘Sp202🤘

I don't celebrate the 4th my ancestors were slaves on July 4th 1776 but your beat was fire 🔥!

Yes that’s correct! Have you tried serato sample?
Do you have a link for the computer monitor or tv screen you are using? @Sarah2ill Another great video🥰
This monitor is a $100 tv from Walmart. I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s like 1080p. I need to upgrade to a better screen.
dope intro sarah
🔥🔥🔥
Nice to see your Sub Phatty back! I love Moog synths. Did you see the new Subharmonicon? 😍

Thanks fam! Just depends on how I feel. I don’t have set kit
I never know what I'm about to do, the music gon take me there so whatever needa be done!! Love ya vids
Sarah, why do you use Serato Studio to chop your samples instead of Maschine2???
So Serato has a key and tempo matching feature maschine doesn’t.
@@Sarah2ill Thanks, I'm gonna have to check out that Serato then...
Serato is also incredibly easy to use.

I like what you do but please put your speakers way higher. you lack like 30 cm so you can hear what you do properly. Keep up the good work!
Thank you. I’m highly aware. Thank you. My studio set up isn’t complete.
Serato sample and sometimes I rewind the tape and use Reason Recycle ... Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
what are the specs on your laptop?
Do you sample from vinyl anymore? I don't see your turntable.
2:40 sounds like Naughty or Nutz by Cookin Soul

What’s up fam! There should be a link to the speakers in my description. They are JBL r 405s I believe.
