On the advice of the Northrops, I got the sigma art when I got my Nikon D750, and it didn’t disappoint apart from having to send it for repair twice and the shock of seeing how big and heavy it was to lug about. 6 years later I could take no more and changed system after 44 years from Nikon to Canon mirror less, I was disappointed that the interchangeable mount didn’t extend to Canon but I had already decided that it had to go due to weight, and have not regretted the change to the Canon L f4, which I’m finding to be sharper, and more responsive than the previous dslr plus sigma set up. For versatility it’s leaves little to desire. 2.8 would be nice, but not for the extra weight and cost - better to have something I could afford and carry more comfortably all day long
I'm a photographer rather than a filmmaker but the 24-105 f4 (or equivalent) is my favorite single lens. I've never been a fan of the 24-70 2.8 more people are drawn to. The extra stop isn't enough to make a significant difference if you need more light or shallower DoF, but the 30mm less focal range makes a big difference. If I do need more light I can always pair the zoom with a fast prime.
I’ve got the Sigma 24-105mm F4 Art lens and it’s arguably my favourite of the lenses I own. It’s a brilliant lens and it was half the price of the new Canon equivalent when I bought it.
I bought Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L from MPB, half price compared to the new ones, due to a tiny defect that makes no difference in image quality. Couldn't be happier.
Gave my Sony 24-105 to my daughter, and replaced it with the much more versatile Tamron 28-200. Don’t get me wrong, the 24-105 was awesome, but I found the 28-200 had comparable IQ, and the versatility of the 28-200 was much more useful to me.
It totally depends on what you need and what you're shooting, but we love a prime, of course! However, we still think the 24-105mm is underrated! Thanks for watching - Amy
@@davidruban Well, an old mentor of mine always said, with two prime Lenses, a wide angle prime Lens and a short tele prime Lens you can cover 90 to 95 % of most types of photography, you do not need many focal length for photography. Most users of zooms only use two focal length of the zoom. A very good zoom is too big, too heavy and too expensive ! And a zoom makes most lazy, with a prime you will nearly always be awake to get the best image !

Sigma just released a 28-105 2.8

We love to hear it! Thanks for choosing us and tuning in! Amy
Would a 24-70 2.8 plus the 1.5 clear image zoom on Sony’s newer cameras be comparable for video ?
Nikon 24-120 Z. Best value, sharpest, longer at the long end, and super light.
It is an excellent lens, and that extra flexibility at the long end is so great! Thanks for watching - Amy

Finding the right lens for you is always the best feeling, and the 28-200mm definitely offers a huge amount of flexibility! Thanks for watching - Amy
Get the Nikon 24-120 :P
Just about to add that, the 24-120 vr g stays on my old Nikon most of the time, that said I had the 24-104 on my 5Dmk2

ALL zoom lenses are overrated, get Prime Lenses !

@@mpbcom No zoom Lenses are overrated, two prime Lenses will always be a better choice for photography (I know videographers love zooms).
@cameraprepper7938 it’s all fun and games until you need haul 4+ prime lenses to get all the different shots you need at different focal lengths.
