I keep returning to this work. It transports me to a time of walking hand in hand through leaf-fallen parks. Beyond the recesses of the current age of speed and individualism, to a sepia tinted community of romance and belonging.
Hi Chuck, did you know a trumpet player Sonny (Tony) Pizzurro he lived in Longwood Fla. and had a big band. James was his idol, Tony could play all of James’ solo. When Tony lived in Philly we played together in the old Italian Festival bands. We both had quartets. He also was good friends with Tony Russo. So, did you know Sonny (Tony) Pizzurro?
Let me tell you, i started to think i’ve lost passion in music since around a year ago but at 3:00 till the end i got these chills that slapped me in the face and reminded me of the beauty that can emit from a beautiful instrument under control of a talented musician
Wow. You know I have a passion with music so much to the point where my dream is to bring that 20s-40s big bands back (mostly Glenn Miller’s sound.) I want to make big bands popular again. One point I was lost and depressed and the song I was listening to at the time was called “will you remember me” and everytime I would listen to that song I picture Glenn Miller running as if he was trying to save someone. well after listening to that song multiple times it hit me. I felt that Glenn was trying to save me because he knew that his music was the very thing that kept me on my feet. And once I heard “moonlight serenade” I almost cried of joy it was breathtaking. What would be cool is if you were to lead a band of your own one day. I would love to do so. What if we were going against each other as two different orchestras. That would be cool. Only a thought tho.
I'll get this to 100,000 views just solo with the amount of times I keep coming back to this during study. Edit: Wow that took way less time than I thought
Wow! Excellent playing runs in your family. Congratulations to you both. The solo work is very good. I love this arrangement, and will certainly look it up in Musescore.
Truly amazing. You completely captured the essence of Harry. I'm really having a hard time deciding if the bugler's Holiday is my favorite or this one lol really brought back memories. I played this my final concert in college. Like the other poster mentioned I would love to hear you make a rendition Tommy dorsey's Marie. It's a super fun song 😁 thank you so much for all the work you put into this cuz it is truly enjoyable!
Still listening to this! This is so good! I’ve listened to Big Band since I was old enough to sit in front of a record player, many, many, many years ago. This is wonderful. How about a trombone feature for Sam? Marie? Song of India?
Never thought that you would be standing here so close to me there's so much I feel that I should say but words can wait until some other day Kiss me once, then kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long, long time Haven't felt like this, my dear Since I can't remember when It's been a long, long time You'll never know how many dreams I've dreamed about you Or just how empty they all seemed without you So kiss me once, then kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long, long time Ah, kiss me once, then kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long time Haven't felt like this my dear Since I can't remember when It's been a long, long time You'll never know how many dreams I dreamed about you Or just how empty they all seemed without you So kiss me once then kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long, long time
If you didn't notice, these are just two persons. The reason for why you see more than two one the screen is because separately recorded scenes are put together concurrently. Moron.
Woh they played 2 minutes of improv outstanding If you cant tell yes its a joke as the part most tend to know is just the trumpet solo and its also a bit of a crack to trumpet ego which i understand cause I play as well but dont take this offensively we all know its an amazing song and there is more to it then the first iconic trumpet solo
It's a flugelhorn. Per the description, I'm playing the tuba part on the flugel (dropped down two octaves in the software). A flugel has a conical bore and is essentially a mini tuba. As opposed to say, a trumpet or trombone which are cylindrical bore so sit in a different family and have a different sound - more precise, less round and warm.
"So are you gonna tell me about her?"
"No, no I don't think I will."
The only real one here

Harry James was my Friend and Mentor.
He would have flipped over your work!
Keep it coming!
Thanks Chuck, that means a lot to me coming from you, such an incredible trumpet player!

Its been a long, long time since Sam got the trombone out. What a beautiful tone!
I know right? Casually makes a comeback after years of not touching the horn and sounds awesome! Thanks for listening Wafi. 😆
Thanks Waf!

Do you use bairtone sheet music for the instrument on the very right
No, it's the Tuba part, just played on the flugel then dropped 2 octaves digitally. I score it as if for Bb Tuba.
Allow me to just sob
sorry but what is the name of the instrument on the right?
