Great 1940s swing sound! This young lady has quite the voice but what’s really phenomenal is that she sounds a lot like the old 40s singers, ie Helen Forrest, Marion Hutton, She really sounds a lot like Pat Friday. Same with the trumpet player, very Harry Jamesish!
Every rendition of this song makes me want to cry. It doesn't matter if they're tears of joy, tears of sadness, tears of loneliness, tears of gratitude. Such a moving song.
Proof there’s a reason it’s called “ Big Band “ music ! The melody, rhythm, sound and talent that’s missing in much of today’s so called music. Play on , my friends !!
OMG!!!! This is, without doubt, the epitome of a WW2 love song. I can just see GI Joe and his wife meeting at the train station upon his return from Europe and this song playing over the loud speaker. I know there was much tragedy happening then but what I wouldn’t give to have lived during that time. God bless America, our veterans, and big band music.
Awesome I am 68 this blew me away I loved it I I was born in 1953 grew up with the fifties the 60s 70s country music I love but this I just realized how beautiful it was just found it she is awesome
I finally found it!!..Wow, my grandma taught me how to dance with this song...so many awesome memories..Miss u Nan and Pop, always in my heart forever more.
Great old song. I find it mildly amusing finding out the band that did this rendition, but it has the feeling and flavor of the spirit of the music. Good job to all.
Never thought that you would be standing here so close to me there's so much I feel that I should say but words can wait until some other day. Kiss me once and kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long, long time Haven't felt like this, my dear Since I can't remember when It's been a long, long time You'll never know how many dreams I've dreamed about you Or just how empty they all seemed without you So kiss me once, then kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long, long time Oh, kiss me once and kiss me twice Then kiss me once again It's been a long such, a long time I haven't felt like this my dear Since I don't remember when It's been a long been a mighty long time You'll never know how many dreams I've dreamed about you Or how empty they all seem without you So kiss me once and kiss me twice And kiss me once again It's been a long long time It's been a mighty, mighty long time.
I noticed that one of the saxophones where replaced with piano. Anyways this is really close to the jazz from the 1945 original but since the piano tookover the saxophone, its a 9.5/10 in my opinion.
I Miss this music, even tho I’m not even 20, I miss this
Me too bro, me too
Exactly! Some things about music are nostalgic to people who weren't even alive then.

The Maestro Harry James would approve.
I finally found it!!..Wow, my grandma taught me how to dance with this song...so many awesome memories..Miss u Nan and Pop, always in my heart forever more.
Nice sharp Brassy sound, and the singer is also fabulous

Love the performance of this band - this music is amazing!
Fantastic! You all played beautifully and also retained the key elements in Jack Mathias' arrangement sans the strings!

Never thought that you would be
standing here so close to me
there's so much I feel that I should say
but words can wait until some other day.
Kiss me once and kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Haven't felt like this, my dear
Since I can't remember when
It's been a long, long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or just how empty they all seemed without you
So kiss me once, then kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long, long time
Oh, kiss me once and kiss me twice
Then kiss me once again
It's been a long such, a long time
I haven't felt like this my dear
Since I don't remember when
It's been a long been a mighty long time
You'll never know how many dreams
I've dreamed about you
Or how empty they all seem without you
So kiss me once and kiss me twice
And kiss me once again
It's been a long long time
It's been a mighty, mighty long time.
No me he sentido así, querida
Desde que no puedo recordar cuando
Ha pasado mucho, mucho tiempo
Nunca sabrás cuantos sueños
He soñado contigo
No me he sentido así querida
Desde que no recuerdo cuando
Ha sido mucho, mucho tiempo
Nunca sabrás cuantos sueños
He soñado contigo

I noticed that one of the saxophones where replaced with piano. Anyways this is really close to the jazz from the 1945 original but since the piano tookover the saxophone, its a 9.5/10 in my opinion.
