I must agree. I thought I would never hear the modern sound of Harry James, Chris Snead manages to nail that sound. This isn't the old Harry James. He captures the sound of the young Harry James, when he was at the top of his game so very long ago. Good job Mr. Snead and to the entire Syd Lawrence Orchestra. You are all just excellent, as was Sarah Eyden.
When this song was played and played after World War Two all soldiers and all service men were greeted by this fabulous song. Memories like this will sustain the test of time. Harry James has passed away many years ago but this chart has his name all over it forever.
@@chrisdean9810 You're welcome. I also like the way you take it juuuuuust a little bit slower than Harry. Adds to the whole romantic ambiance of both the music and the lyrics.
The man with the trumpet is rather good, but the girl singer presents the best vocal version of the Harry James classic I've EVER heard. *And she isn't hard to look at, either. ❤
I play trumpet and I would love to know where to find the ending part of the songs trumpet part. I can find the beginning but I am unable to find the ending part
Ok the original version is great. But there is somethinf about this recording, maybe it has a sibdtly softer eq around the edges of the sound. But i aprually prefer this over the original because of it.
Sarah Eyden has a lovely voice, but if you really want a recording that shines like Harry James, you need a vocalist with a more powerful voice.Think June Christy, Kitty Kallen, Margrette Whiting, Marion Hutton, Vera Lynn. Your Orchestra is spot on!
Ms Eyden brings JUST the right nuance to this interpretation. This is, when all is said and done, a "torch" song. The SLO orchestra's slower interpretation makes that unmistakably clear. This song does need or WANT a "blow 'em away" vocalist. It wants a vocalist who understands she's making love to the song as she sings it. Ms Eyden does just that. I rest my case.
Why did no one except Kitty Kallen sing "Never thought that you would be standing here so close to me. There's so much I feel that I should say. But words can wait until some other day. . . . "?
The trumpet solo at the end was the BEST live performance I’ve heard since the original recording!
Thank you

Thank you That’s such a compliment. Much appreciated.
They ( the orchestra ) and she ( Ms Eyden ) come about as close as anyone's gonna get to Harry and Kitty. Kudos to all. Sincerely.
Thank you Charles , that’s very kind

But unlike Harry and Kitty, they left out the intro😢
