I agree. I’ve flown Alaska several times up and down the West Coast and partner Horizon between Edmonton and Seattle. It’s always been a great experience and Seattle airport is excellent. Thank you for posting. I can’t wait to get back into the air (above the clouds).
I have a friend who is an Alaska flight attendant. He told me about the morning BNA-SEA flight (which sounds very similar to your RDU-SEA). Alaska doesn't have catering service at BNA. So the flight before has to being the catering for the flight in and flight out. Since you were the first flight out, the catering had to sit overnight. Which means they can't have certain things. And those were pre-covid procedures.

If no other airlines have the same route departing around the same time and are also serving food, hot food, other airlines are not going to serve the hot food. It's all contracted and those contracts do not allow for monopolies by one airline.
One Problem with this is American their partner airline does have catering out of BNA I have had it on an early morning from BNA to LAX. So it is not like it's not available they just aren't taking advantage of it that said it could also be affected by the construction that they have been doing out at BNA for the last few years.

The most memorable flight was Alaska Airlines from San Francisco to Anchorage. Left SF just at sun-up, flew over SF bridge cloaked in fog with only the towers showing and then followed the coast (on the left side if you spit out the window it would land in the Pacific, on the right side beach to mountains to the horizon) up to Anchorage. We saw the Pacific, Rockies, extinct volcano cones, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helen and the snow capped mountains in Alaska. All in less than 4 hours. IFE doesn't have a chance.

I am very much enjoying your videos since I just got back from Alaska and did the train experience from Anchorage to Denali. Certainly wish we had been able to do the Denali bush plane.
I'm intrigued to see your Airports Revealed segment of Seattle. My dad being a Captain for Alaska has spent much of his career flying in and out of Seattle, and it's certainly one of his least favorite airports. Mostly because of the traffic and long waits for takeoffs, especially around noon. You can end up being 20th or worst in line to takeoff if you don't get out of your gate in time. Or as you experienced, being too early means you might have to wait for a while before you can find a gate. As far as the reasoning for your delay, I might have an answer for that via my dad. The heat in the entire PNW brought temperatures like we had never seen (PDX shattered records three days in a row), and a lot of the ramp workers ended up taking the day off, and I can't say I blame them. However, that led to a serious short staffing of ground crews, so a lot of flights (including ones my dad flew that weekend) were delayed. 21/25 Jeb Score isn't too bad! If I had to guess about the strange RDU-SEA not being viewed as Transcon, it might have to do with the fact that Alaska, like you said, has only one flight a day there. However, Alaska has expressed that over the next few years they're focusing on establishing their routes with more frequency, rather than establishing new routes, so maybe that'll change soon. Hope you enjoyed your time in Alaska and Hawaii. Two of the most beautiful states in the US. Great job as usual Jeb.

San Diego is a small hub for Alaska so I fly with them pretty frequently, and I don't think I've ever had a bad experience. Very solid airline in every aspect; they'd be my favorite U.S. carrier if they just added seatback IFE screens. Something interesting about Alaska Airlines is they've positioned themselves as basically "the western US airline" and have a big presence at all the major destinations in the western states (including Hawaii). Ironically, San Diego has more flights on Alaska than Southwest Airlines, despite being literally the exact southwestern corner of the country.

I know I'm commenting late, but this video has me excited! Just popped up on my recommended feed and my mom and I are taking an Alaskan cruise out of Vancouver in September. We are flying from Tampa to Seattle (and onward to Vancouver) via Alaska Airlines in FC as well! Flight time looks only a little longer than your flight (at 6ish hours) so I'm hoping it counts as Transcontinental, otherwise I'll be just as confused I'm sure! Love your videos! They have me so excited to travel myself!
Hey, Jeb, great to see you flying again. Regrettably, we in Australia are still locked into our national borders, so it is lovely to share this flight with you. Looking forward to getting back to the USA to hug my son in Memphis. Even a vicarious flight is better than none!
What really shines for Greener Grass, is its host. The narration I encountered, in this video, is nothing short of excellent. And that is not a word that I use lightly. But it even extends outside the video. Unlike, some other UA-camrs. Every video host, I heard, was eager to engage with me and excited to count me as a subscriber. The service, in this video, was every bit of 5 stars.
Thank you for this. I just flew Delta first class from Anchorage to Atlanta 7 hours flight. It was horrible. Entertainment system didn't work, no hot meal on this long flight. Just small bag of chips and other small items. The only thing was the seats went lay flat. Not sure if it's worth the triple cost of economy. I will definitely check out Alaska airlines on my next trip. Appreciate it.
ALL U.S. carriers are bad. And they get away with it because of passengers low expectations and conformity with low levels of service and catering in all classes!
The airport dimmed their windows to save energy, but made it hard for Jeb to take pictures, that's okay, the airport is within their rights to save on their electric bills. The seat doesn't have a built-in screen, so he can't do work and have a movie running at the same time, oh well, that's just a first world problem. Jeb is so understanding. Then I saw the PP Aquanaut on Jeb's wrist...nice....he deserves it! Another great video!

The food was simple but good..Then we flew to Juneau for 2 days, then we flew to Anchorage for several days then we flew to Fairbanks, we rented a SUV and drove to PALMER, WHITTIER, NORTH POLE and a couple of other places.. BEAUTIFUL place to vist.. We were in Alaska for 3 weeks..We ate at a McDonald's in The North Pole I had the DENALI burger it's basicallya Big Mac.. Loved going on a cruise to watch the Glassers.. We did and saw so much.. SAD part is we never saw the AURORAS no one wanted to take the tour because it was to cold.. 😥
Your video brought back memories. I lived in Spokane for 13 years and flew out of there many times I also remember the surreal experience of seeing the airport on September 12, 2001, when it was closed, there were planes from such airlines as TWA sitting at the airport that did not have flights into Spokane. I always loved flying into Seattle as it is one of the few places I would see planes from International airlines.
Also, thanks for your good comments towards the people of Alaska Airlines. I flew them quite a bit also, and I can't remember a bad experience... outside of delayed flights. Good job on this point too.
I certainly enjoyed Alaska Airlines on my flights to Hawaii. Their flight attendants were really friendly, humorous and made it a nice, comfy trip. Alaska Airlines certainly has pleasant customer service.
It gives me a big warm smile like the one on Alaska tails to know you just came to my town, FAI. I hope you saw all the DC6s and other cool/old/unique planes still operating from FAI. Alaska Airlines needs to update those seats. I have been on their 737NGs with updated seats like the A321s, but apparently there aren't that many. I've flown them a lot, have been MVP Gold for several years. There's rarely any problem with service on Alaska, but when there is, if you report it in "Alaska Listens" post-flight surveys, the company is very good about writing sincere apologies backed with $ credit. Thank you for all your reports, Jeb. You certainly helped get me through the pandemic, but I'll always keep watching your videos.
I am based in Seattle, & have been happily flying Alaska Airlines for MANY years. I am glad to see that they are finally getting the kudos they so richly deserve! Even when the flights are packed & cramped, & on the old dingy aircraft they used to have, it was ALWAYS the Alaska staff that kept bringing me back over & over again. I am so glad that you mentioned them in your review. Even when I had to travel during the pandemic, as austere & depressing as air travel became again, flying Alaska made it less of an ordeal! Having flown in 1st class, & in the back, I can say that you missed out on an innovation in economy class. There are Alaska Airlines economy seats that have a “rack” in the seat back in front of you to put your phone, iPad, etc., so that you can watch content on your device, & leave your tray table free to eat, work, etc. Thanks again for showing our PNW gem of an airline as they really are. Simply the best!
Welll… it depends on if you’re on an updated plane. And those updated interiors also have a tablet holder in first class, plus greyhound style foot rests in rows 2-4
I love your channel! I have been feeling a bit locked up lately with COVID and not traveling as much. Thank you for bringing the joy of travel to so many of us during these trying times. Hope to see you on a flight soon!
We flew Alaska from Cincinnati (CVG) to Seattle (SEA?) for our NCL Encore round trip cruise to/from Seattle and loved it. We would certainly fly Alaska again if the itinerary would be available.
I am a dedicated Delta Airlines flier....once I was on Alaska Airlines Seattle to Anchorage ... I have to tell you....the best service..comfortable....etc. My new favorite! @alaska Airlines
Alaska airlines is the best airline I have flied on. Oddly I got a really cheap ticket from Seattle back to my home state of Michigan for like 60 bucks. The catch was I had to take Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Orlando (FL) (I know confusing), and then a few hour layover then a basic flight up to Detroit. Anyways the plane was comfortable, the service was amazing, it was a late night flight and I was super tired, I went to the bathroom, and the stewards were having a birthday party, they asked if I could take a picture of them, so I did, and then they asked what beer I would like, I already had one earlier, but they gave me a second for taking the picture, it was super awesome and enough to relax the rest of the flight. Alaska airlines is well worth it whenever you can use them.
I have flown Alaska AL twice LA to Ankorage, great food and cabin service. On one return flight, se arrived 2 hours early due to a really strong tailwind.
Alaska Airlines is my airline of choice (as long as they have a flight going my way). With that stipulation, no matter when or where I am flying, I will take them over ANY other airline. And, yes, their service is exceptional. One time my original flight was delayed due to a mechanical issue (the air conditioning wasn't working properly). I did not know that until I arrived at the airport. But when I checked in, I found they had already booked me on another flight with another airline that would (unbelievably) get me to my destination SOONER than I would otherwise have gotten there PLUS they added 10,000 air miles to my frequent flier account! Now THAT is service!
Jeb, Shhhhhhh......It Always rains in Seattle! We're trying to keep people away! I usually refuse to fly any other domestic airline unless I have no choice!
Alaska Airlines is actually one of my favorite airlines I’ve flown on. During my junior year of high school my mom’s friend got married in Honolulu. We flew from Detroit, to Seattle, to LA, then Honolulu. Idk why the route was so jumpy, but I enjoyed myself the whole time.
Love your videos Jeb! Your enthusiasm is infectious and your videos always show how beautiful the world can be. And I have an irrational phobia of flying but always enjoy your videos!
My neck oif the woods (Seattle) again. I have a dear friend who has worked for Alaska Airlines for years. They do so much "extra" for the employees and their families. They actually host a flight to the North Pole to see Santa each December.
I work in Alaska and live in Arizona, I fly first class a lot on AK Air. I use them cause my company charters AK Air to fly us from Anchorage to work and we get the miles for those charter flights which is nice and I've come to really enjoy the AK Air miles, for free upgrades, paying for extra tickets, booking hotels, and when reserving hotels etc you get extra miles anywhere from 500 up to the ten thousands depending on the hotel/resort and length of stay but they add up, however of course those miles don't count towards status, but I use those extra miles I get each year from hotels to pay for a flight to Alaska or back or I cash them in on a nice hotel for my wife and I from time to time. The first class in my opinion needs to be updated. I have flown Delta first class and I think they're a lot more comfortable, they offer in flight movies, games and in flight map etc with each seat having a built in screen. And in first class the seats offer foot rests. Ak Air, none of that just a 21" wide seat and about the same leg room as the premium/business seats just a little wider space. But I usually will fly AK Air first class a few times to get double the miles to help get me to gold status before the end of the year. And I'm not a fan of the carton of water. I miss the old Dasani bottles. Oh and i've had more rude and pushy flight attendants on AK Air than Delta. Oh and a guy that has had way to many layovers in Seattle. I can't stand that airport. It's just so packed and busy and hard to get anywhere. Although, I know the airport well so I know of some quicker ways to get from one terminal to another. And on layovers where I'm not rushed sometimes I'll just take a seat on the tram and go in circles for an hour.. As big of an airport as it is, I wish it would offer more "fast food" type places there's McD's and Wendy's now but thats it. It used to have a BK but that's gone now and I remember when I was stationed in Puget, they used to have a Taco Bell too, but who wants to get on a flight after eating Taco Bell. ha.. Just wished they had more, cause most of their sit down restaurants are always full and hard to get a seat. Although, some AK lounges there aren't to bad, My favorite is in C concourse, it's a little smaller, but very comfortable and clean. Sometimes even on a quick layover, if I get off at C I'll run up to the lounge just to use the restroom cause they're clean, and they have better smelling soap, lotions etc. And I'll grab a coffee, soft drink and some snacks on my way out. Another thing I don't like is the cost of the lounges now 450 for MVP and higher that's pretty steep, I thought 350 was high for what they offer.
I flew Alaska from SFO to Newark a few weeks ago; here is my even more subjective Mike Score: Lounge: 0/5 I’m a poor economy passenger so I was in the regular terminal with the rest of the peasants Food: 2/5: Northwest deli box was mid Seat: 3/5: Enough legroom for economy, and it was not uncomfortable Service: 5/5: very nice flight attendants, no problems
Took the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Seattle, and took Alaska Airlines from SEATAC to Ontario International just before the heatwave in Seattle. My flight back on Alaska Airlines to California had a gate change and was delayed. I only found out by looking at the departure board after having some coffee. Can't beat the comfort of a roomette on Amtrak, but you can't argue that flying into your home base airport is more efficient.
Nicely done as always. When I go stateside (I’m Australian), it’s either AA, Alaska or SouthWest. Alaskan has always had fantastic service. Including a fun Portland to LA flight on a 737-900 with 18 passengers.

I’m Alaskan! We love you Cheechakos (tourist/guests)! So glad you were able to see the beauty of the last frontier from the sky! Breath taking!
That’s so nice of you to say! Thanks!!
Another great video!
once when we flew alsaska to seattle, i just happened to be wearing my friends "timbers" shirt. then, the front desk made an announcement of anyone wearing timbers clothing can come up to the front. Great friend Kudos to them
✈🛫 My family went on vacation to Alaska 4 years ago..Before COVID..We flew Alaska Airlines 1st class AMAZING flight and DELICIOUS food.. Our adventure started off in Fresno Ca. we flew to Seattle * ate at the 1st class Lounge..
My snack on AA Seatle to Anchorage, apple slices and caramel to dip in. Incredible. No tiny bag of peanuts.
I have a pretty big fear of flying I’m trying to get over and your videos are so helpful in reminding me the fun of flying. Thank you!
I love the blue lighting in the Alaskan cabins it is so relaxing.
Props to this guy. I hate airports and flying with a passion
Oh my... Is that a Patek? Sheeesh my boy Jeb
I am a dedicated Delta Airlines flier....once I was on Alaska Airlines Seattle to Anchorage ... I have to tell you....the best service..comfortable....etc. My new favorite! @alaska Airlines
Really appreciate your unbiased ‘experienced’ based reviews and informative travel videos, thank you.
I love your videos man you always make my Day I love aircraft keep it up.
Alaska Air customer service is primo especially when flying to Alaska. First Class is the way to go
I wish you would do the milk run since you went all the way there!
I like to revisit your videos. Since I lived in Alaska and we flew to Seattle to yard sale, I loved Alaskan Airlines.
Jeb, loved the transition at 6:10
I have flown Alaska AL twice LA to Ankorage, great food and cabin service. On one return flight, se arrived 2 hours early due to a really strong tailwind.
I am enjoying this as my nephew is a pilot for Alaska Air.
I’m from Fairbanks and always fly Alaska Airlines. I liked watching your point of view
I have flow AK Airlines numerous times, including first class. Top notch airline, they have come a long way, considering their history.
Smaller airports with limited Alaskan presence or the same case with any airline means reduced food options
Jeb: Wide seats with no leg room isn't the definition of "First Class" LOL
The Salmon Thirty Salmon B737 livery is my favorite Alaska Airlines livery too!!!
Those strato vulcanos around Seattle are the most beautiful views i have seen.
“Could there be a more Alaskan way to fly to Alaskan than with Alaska Airlines” that is going in the quote book
@Justin Rhee Alaska Airlines was founded in Alaska. Before it moved its HQ to Washington, it was headquartered in Anchorage.
Loved your flight over Burke’s Garden. I love the Virginia mountains!
I sure do enjoy your videos thanks for posting them!
Went to Alaska via Alaska Airlines 20 years ago. Denali was gorgeous. Alaska is such a great airline. I just wish they had lie-flat seats.
Proud employee of Alaska Airlines!
Now I finally found a trip report that actually makes sense with Alaska Airlines! "Alaska Airlines to Alaska" really makes sense!
Gorgeous views.
This was one of the first airlines I every been on.
I watch you all the time.. my grandparents had a farm in Burkes Garden and my mom was also from Tazewell. Small world.
I just spent a week in Seattle and never saw any rain either. It was beautiful all week.
Alaska Airlines is actually one of my favorite airlines I’ve flown on. During my junior year of high school my mom’s friend got married in Honolulu. We flew from Detroit, to Seattle, to LA, then Honolulu. Idk why the route was so jumpy, but I enjoyed myself the whole time.
i aggree dude 😂❤
Love your videos Jeb! Your enthusiasm is infectious and your videos always show how beautiful the world can be. And I have an irrational phobia of flying but always enjoy your videos!
Always enjoy your videos Jeb!
The old WSU plane at 11:32!!! Now I have to watch these for the new one. Go Cougs!!
Those snowy mountains look amazing! It’s just boring and flat farmland here in Illinois
The view is so nice
Jeb is the man.
Love Alaska Airlines!
My neck oif the woods (Seattle) again. I have a dear friend who has worked for Alaska Airlines for years. They do so much "extra" for the employees and their families. They actually host a flight to the North Pole to see Santa each December.
That Patek Phillippe looking 🔥🔥🔥
I flew Alaska from SFO to Newark a few weeks ago; here is my even more subjective Mike Score:
Lounge: 0/5 I’m a poor economy passenger so I was in the regular terminal with the rest of the peasants
Food: 2/5: Northwest deli box was mid
Seat: 3/5: Enough legroom for economy, and it was not uncomfortable
Service: 5/5: very nice flight attendants, no problems
Took the Coast Starlight from Los Angeles to Seattle, and took Alaska Airlines from SEATAC to Ontario International just before the heatwave in Seattle.
My flight back on Alaska Airlines to California had a gate change and was delayed. I only found out by looking at the departure board after having some coffee. Can't beat the comfort of a roomette on Amtrak, but you can't argue that flying into your home base airport is more efficient.
Graduated high school there in fairbanks class of '02. Hope you enjoyed your stay there.
Yes, wish they kept the screens in the headrests was one of the things I miss.
Nicely done as always. When I go stateside (I’m Australian), it’s either AA, Alaska or SouthWest. Alaskan has always had fantastic service. Including a fun Portland to LA flight on a 737-900 with 18 passengers.
Thanks for another great video, Jeb.
